ASIC miners are the best option for Bitcoin network security well into the future, new research has found.
The wholesale embrace of Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) mining for Bitcoin (BTC) could increase the cost of a 51% attack by a factor of up to 2,000.

Rod Garratt University of California Santa Barbara presented the research he co-authored with Maarten van Oordt from the Bank of Canada at the Unitize conference on July 10.

It examined the varying costs of a 51% attack on the Bitcoin network based on the type of equipment used to secure the network. The research suggests by simply switching the network 100% ASIC miners ongoing security can be enhanced greatly.

Crypto insiders are following a multi-million dollar Bitcoin transaction from one of the richest BTC whales in existence.

The high-rolling crypto holder moved a total of 10,250 BTC worth $95 million for a transaction fee of just 74 cents.

The movement was first spotted by the Bitcoin Block Bot, an automated ledger tracker that monitors large BTC transactions. The most recent block explorer data shows the big time crypto owner sent the BTC to an unknown wallet that has three prior transactions, each valued at just $10 or less.

Bloomberg just published its latest outlook on the crypto markets, predicting Bitcoin will outperform the altcoin market as it continues to solidify its place as the gold of digital assets.

Mike McGlone, the senior commodity strategist for Bloomberg Intelligence, says widespread adoption, limited supply and strengthening demand all point to a BTC price increase, especially relative to other cryptos. He points to Bitcoin’s performance over the last 365 days, with BTC dropping 12% compared to a 21% decline in the price of Ethereum (ETH) and a 56% loss in the price of XRP.
