Kazakhstan’s Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) and Exante have announced a partnership regarding the development of a national cryptocurrency. The Kazakhstan government intends to launch a state-issued cryptocurrency that is backed by fiat.

The governor of the AIFC, Kairat Kelimbetov, has expressed the institution’s belief that “blockchain and cryptocurrencies are entering the mainstream of today’s economic reality.” Kelimbetov emphasized the AIFC’s desire to become an international frontrunner in the development and adoption of distributed ledger technology. “Astana’s leading financial regulators have already commenced their work and are laying the foundation for Kazakhstan’s fintech-ecosystem. We believe that the AIFC can become an international hub for blockchain operations and the development of the digital assets market is our key priority in the near future,” he stated.

News related to Crypto / Chinese Miners exisiting Bitcoin Mining
« on: October 21, 2017, 09:12:31 PM »
It has been reported that an increasing number of Chinese bitcoin miners are liquidating their hardware via second-hand trading platforms. Many of the miners are selling their equipment due to fears that China’s cryptocurrency crackdown may be intensified to target miners.

A Chinese miner has told reporters that he is selling his equipment in due to the looming threat Beijing may seek to further its crackdown on cryptocurrencies. The miner stated that he doesn’t “care about [the] bitcoin price anymore. There are too many regulat[ory] uncertainties. You know the government always adopts an interventionist approach in its economy. What if the authority one day suddenly announces that it’s illegal to hold coins? Now I just want to sell out all of my miners and ASICs. No more roller coasters in my life.”

News related to Crypto / Tezos ICO might face a Class Action Lawsuit
« on: October 21, 2017, 09:04:22 PM »
A US law firm is investigating Tezos ICO inorder to file a class action suit.

Issuing a statement:
It appears likely that DLS, the Breitmans, and the Foundation have violated U.S. securities laws in conducting the ICO. If the Tezos tokens are “securities” sold to U.S. investors, the law requires the sale to be registered with the SEC. Here, it is clear that the tokens were never registered. In this situation, one of the chief remedies is rescission of the transaction. U.S. investors could get their money back.

MIT has issued a statement stating that the diplomas were issued via a special application. This “app” enables graduates to share a “tamper-proof” and “verifiable” digital version of their certificates with prospective employers and other parties.

"From the beginning, one of our primary motivations has been to empower students to be the curators of their own credentials. This pilot makes it possible for them to have ownership of their records and be able to share them in a secure way, with whomever they choose." says MIT registrar and associate dean, Mary Callahan

« on: October 21, 2017, 01:03:36 AM »
Gatecoin announced yesterday

Based on a compliance review conducted with our legal advisors Gatecoin has decided to delist several tokens from our exchange on 1 November 2017. The delisted tokens are:

    DGD (DigixDAO)
    ICN (Iconomi)
    PAY (TenX)

This compliance review was prompted by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission’s (SFC) statement on ICOs released on 5 September 2017. Gatecoin previously announced the possibility that any tokens likely to be deemed securities by the SFC would be delisted from our exchange. Additional tokens may be delisted in the future pending further compliance reviews.

Russia’s Economic Development Minister, Maksim Oreskin, has said that Bitcoin is no better than casinos.

“As for Bitcoin, if you look at how the value of this asset fluctuates, it's dozens of percent up, then dozens of a percent down. An asset that can be available for an unqualified investor should not have such characteristics, because it's worse than casinos. First, you earn, then you will lose everything and be left with nothing," Oreshkin said.

“Those who do not know how to manage risks in instruments with such volatility, should not be able to invest, because in 99.9 percent of cases it results in losses for such people and then they will find themselves in a difficult life situation, which is not good," Oreshkin added
