Cryptocurrency discussions / Do you actually use Ethereum?
« on: September 26, 2018, 02:21:58 PM »
As far as I am more and more in it, I can do some conclusions.

1) People are mostly not using the ethereum (altcoins as well);
2) Crypto-enthusiasts are real enthusiasts only when the price goes up;
3) Even considering there are more crypto-companies appear which offer their services, and more people join our community - the level of crypto education and adoption is still very low;

Almost 95% of all people in crypto I know personally are holding or trading, but not using it to its functionality. I cannot judge anyone for this, but let's be honest - it won't bring you any money if you just will buy it and wait.

So, there is a question: "How much of you use Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency to its full capacity?" I am curious about this because as for now it looks like there is only a small group of people making some contributions.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Do ETH have any future?
« on: September 25, 2018, 04:08:37 PM »
ETH was for a long time the biggest Altcoins in my portfolio, but after Ontology was made ETH seems to have been in trouble, the price of ETH keeps dropping and it has lost more than 80% this year.
The total supply of Ontology are 10 times bigger than the total supply of ETH, and the price of Ontology are now around 11% of the price of ETH, this means that if all coins from both project was on the market, and they will one day, then Ontology would have a bigger market cap than ETH.
So what is the future of ETH, I still hold most of my ETH but is worth holding it, or should I go full into ontology, or should I just work away from both coins?

Japan's Financial Services Agency (FSA) has issued a third business improvement order to the owner of hacked crypto exchange Zaif, Tech Bureau. The news was reported by Cointelegraph Japan today, September 25.

As previously reported, as a result of a security breach on the Zaif exchange September 14, hackers succeeded in stealing 6.7 billion yen ($59.7 million) worth of crypto assets belonging to both users and to the exchange itself. The Financial Services Agency had already ordered Tech Bureau to make business improvements first in March, and subsequently in June this year.

The FSA considers that Tech Bureau’s investigation into the causes of the recent hack – as well as its response to customers – have been inadequate. While the firm reportedly announced it was in talks with Fisco Group to receive financial support of 5 billion yen on Friday, September 21, the FSA says it did not receive a concrete report on the matter from the firm directly.

The FSA’s newly-issued business improvement order specifies the following contents as necessary measures that are to be urgently addressed:

Bitcoin Forum / cheapest mining Bitcoin place?
« on: September 23, 2018, 09:22:13 AM »
Depending on where you are, the cost of digging for bitcoins varies greatly. For example, if you are in Venezuela, the cost of digging a bitcoin is only $ 531, but if it costs $ 26,170 in Korea, that's 49 times.

The difference is mainly based on the difference in electricity costs. The cost of $ 531 to dig a bitcoin in Venezuela is less than half that of Trinidad and Tobago ($ 1,190), the two nations with the least expensive "bitcoin" in the list published by Elite Fixtures.

The third-ranked list is Uzbekistan with a bitcoin cost of $ 1,790. Many Asian countries, including China and India, and some other East European countries in the top 20 have the cheapest bitcoin costs.

How about your places?

Hello,

Many ICOs are listed on Idex as their first exchange. Many of those coins drop over 50% in price and even much more. I want to know which ICOs are listed on small exchanges, like IDEX, that are SUPER cheap. Please list projects that are still active and have great plans/a great team.

I'm ready to buy some of these ICOs that have dumped more than 50% of the ICO price before the bull market.

Cryptocurrency discussions / An experience
« on: September 22, 2018, 12:48:52 PM »
Have you ever thought about the fact that looking over a day 10 or more ICO's you become smarter and more experienced?
- you start to notice the same sites, but different projects. You don't even read what the project is about, as the pattern has already been seen many times. And this indicates a potential scam.
- you already see badly made photo of developers without links to personal profiles and just do not read further.
- you see that the meaning of the project is so shabby that the market simply does not accept the next copied idea.
- the phrase "buy in these minutes / seconds - the last chance" is no longer you are interested in and you scroll on.
- you see the hidden potential, if something attracts you. You see some kind of innovative approach. You are surprised that you have not seen this before. And only after that start to study more deeply.
I think that this is an experience.

In a recent, exclusive interview with The Street, billionaire investor Tim Draper stated that he stands by his $250,000 Bitcoin price target by 2022.

While the price of Bitcoin has declined by more than 65 percent since late 2017, the holdings of early Bitcoin investors remain relatively high against the U.S. dollar. Draper, who invested in Bitcoin in 2014, still has more than $260 million worth of Bitcoin, excluding his investments in other cryptocurrencies including Tezos.

How Draper Built His Bitcoin Portfolio
In early 2014, the price of Bitcoin was volatile in the $1 to $5 range. Draper stated that he acquired Bitcoin in small batches, starting from approximately $2, and bought his first large batch of Bitcoin when the U.S. Marshall’s Office seized funds from Silk Road operators and put it in an auction. Draper said:

“Small amounts, a little bit at a time. That price was about $2.50 and then it was starting to really rip and the U.S. Marshall’s Office confiscated the Silk Road money from Bitcoin. They put it up for auction. The bidders were all sort of venture capitalists and a couple of other people. They were all talking about what kind of a deal they were going to get.”

At the time, in late 2014, 12 lots featuring thousands of Bitcoins were auctioned off and venture capitalists were allowed to participate in the auction. Predicting Bitcoin would either go down to zero or up to many billions of dollars, Draper outbid everyone with $632, with over 5 percent in premium, and purchased all 12 lots.

“Here was my thinking: Either this thing goes to nothing and–you know, too bad–or it goes sky-high and nobody’s going to care that I paid 5 percent more for it. So I bid up to $632 and I didn’t just get one lot, I got all the lots. I think it was about 40,000 Bitcoins.”

The 40,000 Bitcoins Draper purchased in 2014 are now worth $260 million. Subtracting the initial $22.4 million investment Draper made, even after a 65 percent correction, Draper’s profit from his 2014 investment is $237.6 million.
