It seems a next bull market for altcoins will be very hot with Layer-2 projects. I would like to emphasize that this thread is not created to shill any Layer-1 or Layer-2 projects, it's simply for information.

With those statistics tables over chains and layers, you can have overview on what's happening on those chains and layers. To invest, you will have to make more due diligent research before spending money.

DeFi tokens / Impermanent Loss & Calculators
« on: December 27, 2023, 12:28:20 AM »

With massive rallies of DeFi and Farming on more Layer-1, Layer-2 projects as well as chances to get airdrops, people will take Opportunity Cost and easily to ignore risk of Impermanent Loss when they stake their altcoins in Liquidity Pools.

There are some Calculator tools to calculate Impermanent Loss and imagine some scenarios for it, think of your strategies, what to do with each scenarios before you start staking (farming) with AMM's Liquidity Pools.

If you don't understand what is Impermanent Loss, please read

Sorting Box / Bubble map for token holder distribution & connection
« on: December 26, 2023, 07:34:39 AM »
This bubble map which is interactive, informative and for token enthusiasts. Those guys want to find hidden gems and I wish them best of luckiness.

Because tokens are very risky and scam, if they don't have ability to check token distributions especially top wallets, they can choose scam projects that will have rug pulls later.

Now, let's dig in a website that can help them to minimize risk.
  • Website: https://bubblemaps.io/
  • Application link: https://app.bubblemaps.io/
  • It has some chains like ETH, BSC, AVAX, CRO, FTM, POLY, ARBI
  • You can have some features like Explore Wallets; Reveal Connections; Manage your Map; Travel in Time
  • Some features are limited for Premium account but with free account, you can get basic information to avoid rug pull.

I have a thread

This thread is for Exchange Taker, Maker Fee, Withdrawal fee (on BTC or USDT only) but with some more information about Deposit methods, US. allowed (or not), Credit cards (accepted or not).

  • Use its filters with different categories: Continent; Traded Currencies; Max Fee; Additional Options (US Allowed; Accepts Wire Transfers; Accepts Credit Cards).

If you don't find the exchange you are searching for, it can be in Exchange graveyard.

Centralized exchanges are never safe and recommended places to store your cryptocurrencies longer than what you have to do. After you buy your cryptocurrency on a centralized exchange, don't have plan to trade it daily, you should withdraw it to your own wallet.

Unfortunately centralized exchanges charge withdrawal fee that is usually not cheap. You must check Withdrawal fee, together with Taker fee, Maker Fee, and more, before deciding what centralized exchange to use.

Let me introduce you to a useful website for it
See screenshots.

An example if you want to find exchanges to check withdrawal fee with Bitcoin blockchain. Choose Bitcoin, then you will get followings. The site lists from cheapest to most expensive. My warning is an exchange with cheapest withdrawal fee does not mean it is a good one to use. You must check more with Coinmarketcap and Coingecko about exchange trust, reputation score.

Days ago, I shared it in this post. Today I decide to write a full introduction to HOLD camp map.

If you are a Bitcoin investor, and read news on social media or in Bitcointalk forum, I am sure you already know about the term 'HODL'.

What is this and what does it mean?

I always recommend newbies to Search before posting and if they practice it, they will find some resources about HODL term.

They can find results in this forum or on other sites like Coinmarketcap.
Quote
HODL = Hold On Dear Life.
Above is for the first question.

The second question, for Bitcoin investors, can be explained with the following chart.
  • Click on some icons at the top right corner to customize color of the chart.
  • As of writing, the HODL line is 5 year and 1 month. This line changes with Bitcoin prices and with time, stay updated by using the chart.

I quote the guide from HOLD camp.

Welcome to Hodl Camp.

This is an interactive graph on the profitability of hodling bitcoin. Read the whitepaper here.

Time flows diagonally, from the upper left corner to the bottom right corner.
It starts on 2010-07-18 and ends on 2023-12-20.

By moving the mouse or tapping the heat map, you will traverse all historical entry and exit dates. Pin the marker by clicking and move around with WASD keys.

Moving vertically changes the entry date. Up is earlier, down is later.
Moving horizontally changes the exit date. Left is earlier, right is later.

Where the lines cross, the color shows the profitability, green for positive and red for negative.

The green scale is log10, the red scale is linear.

One pixel is one day. Zoom in () to see more detail. Zoom out () to see the bigger picture.
Drag or scroll to move around.

Next to bitcoin denominated in U.S. dollar, it's also possible to plot the price of bitcoin denominated in troy ounces gold (XAU). This eliminates the influence of price fluctuations of U.S. dollar and instead uses a hard money: gold.

Change the color map () if green/red doesn't work for you.

Now, let's see the chart with default settings.

You can click on the Eye icon to change color settings. Below are some of color settings and how it looks. Choose one color setting you like to use.

When you hover mouse on the HODL map chart, you will see Entry date, Entry price, Exit date, Exit price and Profit/ Loss. This feature is a quick tool to check profit, loss with an assumption that you buy bitcoin at a past year, hodl it like 1, 2, 4 years and how it turns out to be Profit or Loss for you.

If you don't like this HODL map, you can use alternatives like

There are many websites to check Bitcoin price, its price chart but if you are looking for a website with a most comprehensive all-time Bitcoin price history chart, there is only one and the best website for you.

What is it?
  • It is https://bitcoin.zorinaq.com/price/
  • It gives you a longest price history, even more than what you can get on Coinmarketcap, Coingecko or Trading view
  • It takes me a few years in cryptocurrency market to know that website so I glad to share it to everyone and hope it is helpful for people who don't know it

Let's see the chart first.

This is the most comprehensive all-time Bitcoin price history chart you will find online. Updated daily. The chart is interactive:

  • Zoom: click-drag
  • Pan: shift-click-drag
  • Restore zoom level: double-click

On 2009-10-05 the market price of Bitcoin is first established at $0.000764/BTC by New Liberty Standard, the first Bitcoin exchange ($1.00 buys 1309.03 BTC.) The exchange rate history is available at two archived pages: first, second. Their last known exchange rate is $0.005472/BTC on 2010-03-02.

On 2010-04-25 the market price is established again at $0.003/BTC, using the daily volume-weighted trading price of the second Bitcoin exchange, BitcoinMarket.com (PayPal USD trades). The owner, dwdollar, actually started operating it on 2010-03-17, however trading data for the first few weeks is—to my knowledge—not available.

After 2010-07-18 the exchange rate is from the CoinDesk BPI v1 API (https://api.coindesk.com/v1/bpi/historical/close.json?start=2010-07-18&end=2022-05-17).

After 2022-05-18 the exchange rate is from the CoinDesk BPI v3 API (https://www.coindesk.com/pf/api/v3/content/fetch/chart-api?query=...) because v1 has gaps in the data starting on that date.

Two exchanges New Liberty Standard, BitcoinMarket.com have their announcement threads in Bitcointalk too. Not surprised as the forum is very important place for first Bitcoin exchanges and Bitcoin community.

Bitcoin market has its cycle and so far, it relates to Bitcoin halving which was set to be triggered after every 210,000 blocks. During each cycle, there are bearish and bullish years and many news will appear in each cycle.

You can see, read, hear many news in every four years and when you actually experience in the market, with news at the time it occurs, you probably think it is very important, very positive or negative, but after like one, two or three years, you look back and see those news, events are not too much important.

The beauty of Bitcoin market, but it can be changed in future, is its cycle is shorter than other markets like stocks, real estates, gold that can have 8 years, 10 years cycle or even longer.

I say it is beautiful because if you miss opportunities to enter the market, miss chances to take profit in one cycle, you will not have to wait too long to get other opportunities in a new cycle.

If you are still doubtful about market cycles and still want to engage in the market daily, with trading, reading news, putting yourself into uncertain mood, this documents and the graphics will enlighten you. I hope you will broaden your mindset and have better strategy for your investment.
