XRP - Ripple Forum / XRP Delistings
« on: December 31, 2020, 06:00:02 AM »
Following the US SEC filing lawsuit against XRP, exchanges have announced delisting or suspending trading of this coin. For those who are not aware, Ripple was sued because they allegedly sold securities in the form of XRP to US investors/traders.

As I've said in another thread, if ever Binance decides to delist this it will be done by their US counterpart which is Binance US.
It will be the Binance US, which caters to all their US customers, who will do that. The main exchange blocks all US customers anyway.

and they did just that as announced here - Binance US Will Suspend XRP Trading and Deposits January 13th

Other exchanges that announced halting trading of XRP also includes:
  • Coinbase
  • Crypto.com
  • OKCoin
  • Ziglu
  • Wirex
  • Bittrex
  • Swipe Wallet
  • Crosstower
  • Beaxy
  • OSL
  • Jump Trading
  • Galaxy Digital
  • Bitwise
source

Other services might follow sooner or later.

Suggestion Box / Forbidden usernames and display names
« on: December 28, 2020, 12:10:15 PM »
Do we have a set of names that are banned from being used by any member? If none, can we have a policy on that? I'm raising this issue because I noticed this member's name is misleading. If you observed his posts, he doesn't look like a dev/developer (that's clear to me at least). Having that name kinda claims he's a contributor to the ethereum blockchain. He's free to use "ethereum fan" or something that is similar to that.

We are on a bullrun (and we're not done yet) and many traders/investors are moving their funds in and out of exchanges more often which causes the network to clog. There are other factors like the mining difficulty adjustments but that's not the topic I want to address.

As we all know, a congested Bitcoin blockchain leads to high transaction fees like $5 or more. What can you do to avoid paying such fees?

Here are some of the newbie friendly  tricks that I use:
1. Use non-custodial wallets instead of custodial wallets.
- Non-custodial wallets allows you to set your desired fees (Electrum, Coinomi, Trust wallet, etc.)
- Custodial wallets will give you a limited option and their recommended fees are usually higher than what is required (i.e Coinbase).

2. Check mempool size and recommended fees on websites like https://mempool.space/ (noob friendly) and https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/ Both sites are pretty much accurate from my experience.

3. Send on a weekend. It's been observed that mempool tends to be less congested around these times as traders needs some "rest" too. You can send for as low as 1 sats/vbyte (less than $0.50) and your transaction will confirm in an hour (more or less).

Forum related / Reporting low value posts
« on: December 11, 2020, 03:18:33 PM »
Another example of two low value posts that I was planning to report but I have to wait another 360 secs to report the second.

Reported:
Thank you very much brother for sharing such a beautiful topic with us. We got to know and understand a lot from your topic.  And we have benefited from learning a lot from here. You have said that you have discussed the tax of Bitcoin. Thank you brother for discussing like this.  And hopefully such valuable posts will help us in the future.

Unreported (Wait for 360 secs):
You have created a very informative and informative post. No topic has been created about Bitcoin tax so far. This is the first time you have created a topic. Thank you so much for presenting such an informative post in a beautiful way. We have learned a lot from your post.  I was able to learn. Do more and more such educational posts so that we can know all the unknown information.
^ somebody else take care of this because I'm not waiting.

Similar and both are basically padded "thank you" posts. no real value added to the OP.

Suggestion Box / Enable blocking messages from newbies
« on: December 09, 2020, 03:21:01 PM »
I received a private message an account created Dec. 7, 2020 with zero post history.

The PM is basically selling a trading bot imitating a brand that's quite popular in another forum. Now I don't know if the offer is really legit or not but a serious seller wouldn't be sending unsolicited PM's to random people right?

I went on to check if I can enable a feature that blocks PMs from newbie/brand new account but there's no option for that. I can only see "Receive personal messages from All Members" or "Receive personal messages from Administrators only" from the Personal Messaging settings. Those options are too limited don't you think? What if I want to get PM from members except new accounts?

Enabling forum users to block unsolicited PMs from newbie accounts is a form of security. These accounts will most likely send phishing links to steal data and funds. Consider also the fact that scammers are increasing during these times (bullrun).

Here's the message if you're interested to know:

Suggestion Box / Bitcoin Cash ABC sub-section
« on: December 04, 2020, 10:12:59 AM »
Bumping this post in light of the recent split in BCH.

I understand that Bitcoin Cash ABC is not officially a fork from Bitcoin but it can be considered as a grandchild. So does this new coin deserve it's own board under "Bitcoin Forks"? It can also be as a Bitcoin Cash childboard.

Suggestion Box / Remove time restriction in between reports
« on: December 02, 2020, 05:07:58 PM »

360 secs is just too long. To be honest, I find it discouraging and annoying as a reporter since I'm trying to help the forum and yet the forum limits me. Why does reporters need to wait? Are there too many unhandled reports that there is a need to have this restriction?

Forum related / Take Advantage of Promotions
« on: November 26, 2020, 11:16:55 AM »
I remember some time ago that few members are asking for gambling platforms to launch their campaign here. Well, here it is - Betnomi Soccer Prediction Game - Free To Enter - $150 Prize

It might not be what others wanted (signature campaign) but it's a good start.

It's also not easy to win because of the set rules but it's still easy to join and, more importantly, it's free.

Let's take advantage of this and show support especially if we want them to continue using this forum in promoting their brand.

edit:
Nice tribute to the Legend.

I was planning to open this topic after the group stages but here we are...

Follow your team's standings and other stats at https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/
(no image as there are a lot of groups)

It would have been nice if we have the option to topen a poll for you to vote who do you think will win but we don't have that.

Sorting Box / "Not Your Keys, Not Your Bitcoin"
« on: November 19, 2020, 05:08:43 PM »
I just found out about this new site created mainly to educate beginners in the crypto industry. It highlights the importance of privacy, non-custodial wallets, security, and all that stuff against scams. It is also a quick read (you won't get bored). Another plus factor to me is the simple design and that it loads fast.

Gambling discussion / [Basketball] NBA Discussion and Betting Thread
« on: November 12, 2020, 06:18:45 PM »
There's a lot of rumors going around the NBA ahead of the 2020-2021 season which is scheduled to start on December 22.

Let's discuss potential trades (as the new season approaches), game predictions, bets, and results all in this topic.

Who is/are the favorite/s to win next year? Too bad I can't add a poll for you to vote.
I'm a bit of a Kahwi fan that's why I still pick Clippers despite the changes in the coaching staff.

Forum related / What is the forum's take on this case?
« on: November 05, 2020, 07:01:25 AM »
I just saw a project promoted here recently that is widely considered as a scam or a ponzi. I'm referring to HEX's signature campaign. I was wondering what is the position of the forum officials here? Will you let this continue?

Here are some articles accusing the project as scam

Note that this is an inquiry and not an attack to the manager or campaign participants.

Forum related / (casino)?
« on: November 02, 2020, 07:52:09 AM »
Hi admin, I was just wondering why the word "casino" ends up with open and close parenthesis when we post it? It's just weird to look at. Does it have to do with improving the forum's SEO?

edit: just like that ^
