Bitcoin Core developers published a “full disclosure” of the vulnerability affecting several implementations of the Bitcoin (BTC) client Friday, September 21, repeating calls for all nodes to upgrade to the latest version as a priority.

In addition to technical details about the bug, known as CVE-2018-17144, the disclosure explains how developers dealt with the threat to the Bitcoin network, along with a timeline of its discovery and patching in Bitcoin Core version 0.16.3.

“In order to encourage rapid upgrades, the decision was made to immediately patch and disclose the less serious Denial of Service vulnerability, concurrently with reaching out to miners, businesses, and other affected systems while delaying publication of the full issue to give times for systems to upgrade,” the notice reads.

Cryptocurrency discussions / How To Make Money During Crash
« on: September 21, 2018, 01:50:11 PM »
Hi everyone.

As you all know, the market has crashed since january. Almost every investor has lost a lot of money.
When my friends ask me how much I've lost, and I reply 'I've actually made money during the crash', nobody believes me.

I've spent a few months trying to figure out how I could turn crypto into a stable income, and came across bounty campaigns.
If you apply the right tactics, bounty campaigns can make you a lot of money. During the first weeks, I was focuses on bounty campaigns on bitcointalk. But, I found out that this way was very ineffective and stopped when I came across the CX platform. This is the industry leading platform, and I've never encountered any issues.

Why is this the most convenient way? You can actually join over 20 bounty campaigns at the same time, and the requirements of each campaign aren't hard at all.

For the Telegram campaign, you only have to join the Telegram chat for example.

XRP - Ripple Forum / Why Ripple is a bad idea
« on: September 21, 2018, 01:27:24 PM »
OpenCoin Inc gets 80 billion ripples.

The founding developers get 20 billion ripples.

There is a hard limit of 100 billion ripples.

in other words, opencoin inc is comparable to the federal reserve. Go beg OpenCoin Inc for some ripples, you need them to even start using the service  Tongue

Cryptocurrency discussions / Best Legit Smallcap Coins 2018
« on: September 21, 2018, 01:01:00 PM »
As the market becomes more competitive and investors become more educated on the technology the room for scams and pump and dump scheme becomes less and less. I want to open this thread to discuss small cap coins (>25M) that are legitimate with a real use case and have the backing of outside sources to prove it. What are your hidden gems?

Cryptocurrency discussions / Best Exchange?
« on: September 21, 2018, 12:56:43 PM »
I have accounts on about 6 or 7 exchanges, and mostly use either Binance and Bittrex (more recently I've started using Kucoin too). From searching around, I like the look of Huobi, seems to get quite a lot of the new coins and has decent volume, plus seems reasonably trustworthy. Are there any other exchanges worth looking at for trading lower marketcap coins that have decent liquidity? Went off Bittrex a bit, they seem to have a hard on for de-listing coins. Not looking to day-trade, but maybe swing trade. Bought into the ICO of Cobinhood and have done a few trades on there, but still not great volume.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Pump and Dump Exposed
« on: September 21, 2018, 12:52:14 PM »
Recently, there was a major pump and dump group brought to the attention of the crypto community. Many popular influencers in the space were exposed for their particiption in a telegram chat that shows clear evidence of market manipulation. This sparks the debate of whether self regulation is sufficient for crypto or if authorities must be more involved.

Stable Coins Forum / Your favorite stablecoin??

Been seeing a lot of talk about stablecoins lately like this article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/shermanlee/2018/03/12/explaining-stable-coins-the-holy-grail-of-crytpocurrency/#432e3ce84fc6

What do you guys think about them? My personal favorite would be Havven since they're not pegged to fiat or gold and is trustless.

Cryptocurrency discussions / How do you choose an ICO?
« on: September 21, 2018, 12:46:41 PM »
I’d like to know what types of questions come to mind when reviewing a potential initial coin offering (ICO) investment.

 Grin

To start off, I have provided some of the questions I ask myself, along with some pointers.

1. What is the problem they are trying to solve and what is their plan for solving that problem?

2. Is it a feasible goal that can be measured by short-term, mid-term and/or long-term milestones? Does another project exist with the same/similar goal of the ICO? How do they compare? What blockchain platform are they using? Does the product align well with the vision?

3. Has the project built a product? If they have not, then I advise you move on and ignore the fancy titles of the team. If the project has been built, how many repositories are complete? An empty or non-existent GitHub is often a red flag.

4. Lastly, what does their telegram/discord group look like? You should ask questions about their whitepaper, then, see how immediate and clear the responses are. A busy team that is constantly on social media and/or Telegram suggests that it is not a scam.

I know it’s really tough to come across a rating system that is not influenced by ICO makers, advisors, or bribes. If you would like to access an accurate and precise cryptocurrency ICO ratings website, I recommend Cointelligence’s: https://www.cointelligence.com/content/ico_list/
