Cryptocurrency discussions / Death of ICOs and Bounties?
« on: November 17, 2018, 06:43:45 PM »
I used to think that the only way ICOs would end is when developers fund their own project but recent ruling by the US SEC suggests otherwise.

Quote
The recent crackdown on two initial coin offerings (ICOs) Paragon and AirFox by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) could lead to many blockchain and crypto projects declaring bankruptcy in the coming months.
Full story: https://www.ccn.com/how-secs-paragon-ruling-could-send-many-crypto-icos-to-bankruptcy/amp/

This action by the SEC could force project founders to raise funds thru Venture Capital instead of a public sale. If that ever happens, there's probably no need to use the services of bounty hunters.

Have you ever thought about this?

Cryptocurrency discussions / Cryptocurrency Being Used On Pyramid Schemes?
« on: November 16, 2018, 08:13:11 PM »
I am seeing a lot of posts on Facebook recently that offers Bitcoin to attract members. The investment scheme is somewhat similar to a Multi-Level Marketing. If you see something like this, please be careful. Always double check if these "companies" are duly registered and authorized to collect funds from investors. If they offer something like "guaranteed profit", better to stay away. They are more likely pyramid schemes. We all know that crypto is volatile and that no one can guarantee a profit.

Here's a good example of some of those pyramid schemes using cryptocurrency:

Quote
About eight were arrested in Tokyo for being involved in a cryptocurrency pyramid investment scheme. The net worth of the project was 7.8 billion Yen. The pyramid scheme gathered the money from 6000 unsuspecting people in the name of a fake US investment company called “Sener.”

To prevent people from suspecting them, they have organized seminars chaired by foreign speakers. The workshops were used to create public trust in their promise for a 3 to 20 percent return on their investments.  The unsuspecting investors were asked to refer further people in the scheme, and they were promised extra returns for referrals in the form of payments for each reference. The videos of the seminars were uploaded on YouTube.

Sorting Box / What Is This Telegram Group?
« on: November 11, 2018, 12:02:52 PM »
Have you ever asked this question before?
have you been dragged to different telegram groups you have never even heard about?

Me? Yes, my account have been all over the place before. This happened because some people I do not even know kept adding me on different telegram groups for some referral campaign. This is not an acceptable practice for me but many still do it unfortunately.

So is there anything that can be done about this? Yes, there is. If in case you still do not know, you can set the settings of your telegram account. It's quite simple, go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Under Privacy, click "Groups" then choose who can add you.

Hope this helps.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Institutional Players in Cryptocurrency Market
« on: November 11, 2018, 08:54:56 AM »
Aside from Government regulations, do you believe that Institutional players will play a key role for cryptocurrency market to get to the next stage? I believe they will.

In an article by The Currency Analytics, it was not uncommon for large investors to stay away from cryptocurrency.  However, most of the major institutional investors are venturing into the crypto market. The article also mentioned that retail investors are motivated by the involvement of large players, and they are looking at the cryptocurrencies as one of the significant investment opportunities. Institutional players are already in the crypto market.  Hedge and endowment funds have been consistently purchasing more than $100,000,000 worth of digital assets through private transactions.

Looks like the move to green energy is the solution to cut on crypto mining cost.

From the article:

"Recent calculations reveal that mining cryptocurrencies need a lot of energy than the energy that will be required to mine precious metals like gold, copper, or platinum."

"On comparing the conventional mining of copper, aluminum, platinum, gold, and rare earth oxides, it was noted that it required 122 MJ for aluminum, 4 MJ for copper, 5 MJ for gold and 7 MJ for platinum, and for mining cryptocurrency worth $1 it takes about 9 MJ. Thus, indicating that except for the equivalent energy needed for aluminum, cryptocurrency required more power than that is required for conventional mining of metals like copper, platinum, gold, and rare earth oxides."

Cryptocurrency discussions / Don't be that crypto guy/girl
« on: November 08, 2018, 01:31:11 PM »
Do not be that guy/girl who watch his/her bags go to the moon only to watch them go to the grave  :'(.
Do not commit the same mistake of many traders/investors of not selling at a profit thinking the price will go up even further.

We are only a few weeks away from the incoming bull run (my opinion only). Set a target sales price or take any profit whenever you can.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Holders are losers?
« on: November 06, 2018, 04:49:41 PM »
Many suggest that holding is the best option especially in a bearish market but is it really?

Here's what I think based on my own experience:
Some people who hodl are just forced to do so because they were unable to sell on time due to lack of skill in trading. They had no other option other than to sell at a huge loss. I bet the people suggesting that hodling is the best option would probably sell their bags immediately at whatever profit or at a minimum loss if given the chance.

Forum related / Posts on Airdrop & Bounty Section
« on: November 06, 2018, 02:57:25 PM »
I do not know if it is a bit late to ask or suggest but I think posts on Airdrop and Bounty sections should not be part of "Post Counts" similar to posts on the General Sections. I can't imagine having someone becoming a legendary in this forum whose only contribution is making weekly bounty reports.

Thoughts?

According to the article, the UK Cryptocurrency Markets are set to provide a decent boost to the country's financial landscape after Brexit. So it begins - Cryptocurrency saving the economy of a country (atleast from experts prediction)  ;)

Excerpt from the article:
"Herbert Sim, the CCO at Cryptology stated that it is not easy to believe that the UK won’t exploit cryptocurrency opportunities opened up by Brexit. On leaving the EU, UK will be able to make clearer decisions in areas where the EU bureaucratic process will be very slow about making choices.

Brexit is going to permit stronger cryptocurrency partnerships with crypto friendly economies like South Korea, China, Singapore, Brazil, and Australia."

Be Careful In Downloading Cryptocurrency App.

Recently, an app called  “Easy Rates Converter” promoted as a currency converter was found to be running phishing software at the background of the device.  This app was designed in a way to steal the details of cryptocurrency owners.

The app was originally advertised as a tool that can be used for converting the currency rates.  However, it is now uncovered that it has a way of stealing the information of cryptocurrency wallet holders. This app was particularly targeting the wallet users who had an account with many other widely used cryptocurrency wallet apps like CommBank, Google Play, and the official Binance app.

Cryptocurrency Trading / 7 Most Common Careers Of A Crypto Trader
« on: November 05, 2018, 09:04:52 AM »
I found this article by FinanceX interesting and had a good time reading it. It basically tackles most common careers of traders who are still employed. Sharing some portions of the article, you can read it in full on the link provided at the end.

1. IT / Coder / Developer
This group is most passionate about crytpocurrency for obvious reasons. With two screens sitting side-by-side, it’s easy to keep an eye on changing prices and it wouldn’t be a surprise to find out IT professionals have the highest profitability rate when cryptotrading.

2. Accountant
Trading volumes, portfolios, and chart/graphs are not unfamiliar to these specialists. The shear hours accountants spend on the computer help the situation, too.

3. Teacher
People in education are often up to date with current world trends.

4. Business, Marketing

Business people are notoriously interested in stocks and forex exchange trading. The crypto trading scene presents a more challenging prospect with opportunities for incredible short-term profits. Marketers on the other hand can quickly see through an inflated, over-exaggerated marketing campaign giving them the ability to find which altcoins will have long-term value.

5. YouTuber

YouTubers spend as much time in front of a computer screen as anyone so their location suits the hobby. The platform is littered with videos from crypto experts who study the charts and inform the public about new altcoins on the way up.

6. Office workers

Crypto trading is surely much more exciting than whatever they’re supposed to be doing at any given moment. A typical eight hour day provides plenty of time for office workers to open another tab and keep an eye on the market.

7. Online salespeople

The nature of their work means that, if they so choose, they can distract themselves in the hope that trading profits trump what they would have made in comission on the sales they missed.

I am kind of a number 2. What about you?

Cryptocurrency discussions / Cryptocurrency and the Gig Economy
« on: October 30, 2018, 09:27:15 AM »
For those who have not heard about the Gig Economy yet, here are some definitions:

"A gig economy is a free market system in which temporary positions are common and organizations contract with independent workers for short-term engagements." (source: https://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/gig-economy)

"In a gig economy, temporary, flexible jobs are commonplace and companies tend toward hiring independent contractors and freelancers instead of full-time employees. A gig economy undermines the traditional economy of full-time workers who rarely change positions and instead focus on a lifetime career." (source: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/g/gig-economy.asp)

I truly believe that cryptocurrencies are a perfect fit for the gig economy where payments can be sent to anyone and anywhere around the world without going through any third party. The perfect example of this are the bounty hunters (YES, we also belong to the gig economy) who get paid in tokens or coins for the task done. Soon, we will see more and more freelancers from other industries to be accepting cryptocurrencies as a form of payment.

(At the moment, I only of four blockchain based projects creating a platform for both employers and "independent employees". Two already on beta, once under development, the other still on ICO stage. I am actively using one platform both as an employer and as an employee and I can say it is working.)

Sorting Box / How Do You Explain?
« on: October 23, 2018, 01:09:23 PM »
When asked by friends or relatives who are new to crypto, how do you explain bitcoin in one or two sentence/s?
Something that they can have a general idea what is it all about without having their mind blown.

I usually use lines like this:
"Imagine sending money without having to pay fees to third parties..............."
