There is no chance that the cryptocurrency and blockchain space will see “1,000-times growth” again, Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated in an interview with Bloomberg September 8.

At an Ethereum and blockchain conference in Hong Kong, Buterin told Bloomberg that the rapid growth of crypto and blockchain industry is now reaching a “ceiling,” and is moving from “just people being interested” to the stage of “real applications of real economic activity.”

Buterin explained that the period of explosive growth in the sphere is likely coming to an end because the level of superficial awareness about the industry has significantly grown, and is likely to plateau:

Although the blockchain and crypto communities remain united around the ideology of blockchain and its world-changing potential, there is still one issue which proves to be as divisive as a hard fork — consensus protocols. Although proof-of-work (PoW) is still the protocol of choice for Bitcoin and many others, the debate rages over proof-of-stake (PoS), along with other emerging consensus protocols.

Proof-of-work (PoW)

The granddaddy of consensus protocols and the brainchild of Satoshi, the proof-of-work protocol involves block miners solving complex cryptographic puzzles, for which they receive rewards in the form of coins or tokens.

Pros

As the original protocol, PoW has proven its resilience against internal and external attacks.

Cons

PoW comes under fire for several reasons. It is highly energy intensive, with some estimates putting the Bitcoin network power consumption at the same level as 159 countries. Critics of Bitcoin such as Andrew Tayo have pointed out that much of this energy is wasted, as only one miner can eventually mine each block, regardless how many participate in the race to get there first.

Bitcoin is now mostly mined using ASICs, so mining is dominated by big operations such as Bitmain, which can afford the hardware needed to mine at scale. This concentrates mining power into the hands of the few, leading some in the community to call Bitcoin a centralized currency. Although some crypto tokens such as Vertcoin attempt to remain ASIC-resistant by regularly changing algorithms, it is a race to stay ahead of the ASIC manufacturers.

Post nyo dito yung mga kwentong nakakatakot

Hi ako nga po pala si krista,
noon lakwatsera ako, party girl yun nga kung saan yung magandang puntahan pinupuntahan namin kahit malayo;;

isang araw nun(biyernes) napag desisyohan naming magtungo
sa isang tagong ancestral house sa isang malayong probinsya;;
although maraming sabi2x tungkol sa lugar nayun, hindi kami natakot kasi akala namin marami kaming pupunta

nasa terminal na kami ng bus ng tumawag yung mga barkada namin mauna na daw kami ng babe ko at susunod sila;;
at yun nga nauna na kami at after 2 hours na byahe nakarating na kami at exactly 5:33 pm ;
nag ikot2x kami sa ancestral place na  yun;

pero habang naglalakad kami paakyat;

but at exactly 1:00 am nagising ako
or should i say may gumising sakin,,

😱 kase iba yung damit nya

sya: wala kabang napansin kagabi?

General Discussion / What is the future of Cryptocurrency?
« on: September 02, 2018, 04:25:52 PM »
The market of cryptocurrencies is fast and wild. Nearly every day new cryptocurrencies emerge, old die, early adopters get wealthy and investors lose money. Every cryptocurrency comes with a promise, mostly a big story to turn the world around. Few survive the first months, and most are pumped and dumped by speculators and live on as zombie coins until the last bagholder loses hope ever to see a return on his investment.

Bitcoin's (BTC) minor price pullback yesterday has likely recharged the bulls for a rally towards $8,000, technical charts indicate.

The leading cryptocurrency has spent a better part of the last 15 hours trading in the $7,240–$7,440 range, having clocked a 40-day high of $7,588 at 18:00 UTC yesterday.

Moreover, BTC was looking overbought at multi-week highs, hence a minor correction was expected.

More importantly, the price pullback and the subsequent consolidation, when viewed against the backdrop of the high volume inverse head-and-shoulders breakout, indicate that BTC has likely gathered steam for a more sustainable rally towards $8,000.

At press time, BTC is changing hands at $7,400 on Bitfinex – up 0.2 percent on a 24-hour basis.

Back on track? Can expect the go cross 9K this month end?

Another billionaire investor has made bullish comments on bitcoin.

Marc Lasry, the co-founder, chairman and CEO of Avenue Capital Group, an investment firm with $9.6 billion in assets under management, weighed in on his bitcoin investment on CNBC Wednesday.

Speaking during the channel's "Squawk Box" segment, Lasry said he has invested around 1 percent of his personal fund in bitcoin, betting that the world's largest cryptocurrency by market cap might soon be worth as much as $40,000 per coin at some point.

Lasry has an estimated $1.7 billion in his personal fortune, according to the 2018 World's Billionaires List released by Forbes.

Although investors are betting on all kinds of cryptos, Lasry believes "the one will have the biggest market benefit is going to be bitcoin."

"I like bitcoin because it's the one that where everybody is going to come to," he said, adding that the price of bitcoin will rise if the average Americans can get access to bitcoin.

One of the Wall Street's most renowned "vulture" investors, Lasry said he has started investment in bitcoin a few years ago, but bought a lot more in the last year.

Witnesses before the U.S. House of Agriculture Committee at a public hearing July 18 were unanimous in their view that digital assets complicate the hard and fast distinctions of existing regulatory frameworks.

The hearing was chaired by Texas U.S. Representative Michael Conaway, who convened six eminent witnesses to give testimony — former Goldman Sachs partner and U.S. government regulator Gary Gensler, Andreessen Horowitz managing partner Scott Kupor, the CFTC’s Daniel Gorfine, law professor Joshua Fairfield, Clovyr CEO Amber Baldet, and Perkins Coie managing partner Lowell Ness.

A key takeaway from the hearing was that a given digital asset may shift its regulatory status as it transitions from one context to another, given the fluidity of the crypto ecosystem.

Both Gensler and Fairfield argued that when a digital token is marketed at a “pre-functional” moment in its development — i.e. during an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) — then the sale is judged an investment contract and thus a security to be regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
