The Governor of Russia’s Central Bank says she is speaking to BRICS member states about using “digital currencies” to power international trade.

Per RIA Novosti and 1Prime, the bank’s long-serving Governor Elvira Nabiullina said the Central Bank was “currently holding consultations with friendly countries, including BRICS members, on cross-border payments through digital currencies.”

Nabiullina remarked that “when creating the digital ruble platform,” the Central Bank had “made explicit the possibility of [the token’s] integration with similar foreign platforms.”

A key ally of President Vladimir Putin, Nabiullina has previously been bitterly opposed to all forms of crypto adoption.

She has repeatedly called for a China-style ban on crypto in Russia, including a block on crypto mining.

In recent times, however, her stance has changed. And in her most recent interview, Nabiullina made arguably her most pro-crypto comments yet. She said:

South Korean crypto exchanges say they blocked over $82 million worth of transactions linked to romance scams last year.

Per Seoul Shinmun, the crypto exchange Coinone claimed catfishing and other romantic scams that make use of crypto were now “rampant” in South Korea.

Coinone said that it had halted over $2.6 million worth of romance scam-linked trades. The firm said it used an “abnormal transaction detection system” and “24-hour monitoring” network to protect customers.

The announcement comes days after a warning from the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS).

On January 22, the FSS claimed that there had been a rise in crypto-related scams on social media sites.

The regulator told the public to beware of romance scammers. The FSS also warned of the dangers of unsolicited investment-related “recommendations and advice.”

Patience is key, and some see Shibarium as a price pumping tool, but that is not the project's focus and never has been. Shibarium is being built to fulfill Ryoshi's vision and provide the community with a tool to build and grow the project on their own terms. With the imminent Network launch, we invite everyone to read this article and familiarize themselves with the concepts before testing.

This broadcast aims to educate and inform the Shiba community, both experienced and new to the topic of Blockchain and layers, about the operation of our upcoming Layer 2.
