I guess these people should realize that what they do attracts a lot of attention, and mixing has been on the black list for years. In this way, the authorities want to send a clear message to everyone who will ever try something similar - and I hope that everyone who will work on something that enables privacy will first of all know how to protect their privacy.
The idea was to create something as privacy enabling way for people, I don't think there is a need to hide when his intentions were clean, he was practically doing his thing to improve privacy and was used to laundered money as the government claimed and not like he did it intentionally, who will even want to do something that will land him in jail in the public.
The faith of Bitcoin mixers is now shifted to ethereum developers as well, this is to say that government don't like it the way transactions are hidden from them and they are helpless otherwise they might have ban crypto for long.
