Bitcoin Forum / Re: Why should governments accept Crypto currencies?
« on: October 21, 2018, 10:58:18 PM »
Getting your head around cryptocurrencies was hard enough before governments got involved. But now that policy makers around the world are drawing up fresh regulations on everything from exchanges to initial coin offerings, keeping track of what’s legal has become just as daunting as figuring out which newfangled token might turn into the next Bitcoin. The rules can vary wildly by country, given a lack of global coordination among authorities. And while that may change, for the time being there’s a wide range of opinions on how best to regulate the space. Below is a rundown of what major countries are doing now.

Back in 2011 if I would have followed my words above I would be sitting pretty. You see at the time Bitcoin was $11. My partner and I were contemplating buying $3,000 each worth of Bitcoin which was the liquid cash I had available at the time.Today that would be a little over 272 BTC or approximately $300K or a very nice home in Panama!!

Bitcoin Forum / Re: What does Bitcoin mean for you?

Bitcoin is a digital currency (also called crypto-currency) that is not backed by any country's central bank or government. Bitcoins can be traded for goods or services with vendors who accept Bitcoins as payment.Bitcoin-to-Bitcoin transactions are made by digitally exchanging anonymous, heavily encrypted hash codes across a peer-to-peer (P2P) network. The P2P network monitors and verifies the transfer of Bitcoins between users. Each user's Bitcoins are stored in a program called a digital wallet, which also holds each address the user sends and receives Bitcoins from, as well as a private key known only to the user.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: 5 Years From Now in Crypto?
« on: October 21, 2018, 10:35:59 PM »
Bitcoin price prediction is just the start.2017 has been a breakout year for crypto — with Bitcoin surpassing $10,000 and more than $3.8 billion raised this year in ICOs. We’ve seen truly mind-bending appreciation (like Ethereum’s 50X gains YTD) and witnessed the beginnings of countless new projects. In all the funding frenzy, we’ve also likely sown the seeds of some of the larger calamities that will befall the space.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Dealing with crypto haters
« on: October 21, 2018, 10:33:47 PM »
Today the top two threads on there are Dash hating; with hundreds of up votes. We all know that the Monero folks are very active and often dominate the forums and polls. But this is really not good for us.They used to do the same with Ethereum and then it stopped after the EEA announcements. Now you cannot criticize Ethereum and expect to get so many upvotes. Dash needs to do something so that this doesn't keep causing problems. We need more active forum users and need to get to a stage like Ethereum where people will not allow haters.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Will Bitcoin be centralized?
« on: October 21, 2018, 10:28:20 PM »
Bitcoin revolution has promised a new era of decentralized payments, where centralized banks/actors are unnecessary as middlemen. However, this promise is continuing to fade! Bitcoin ecosystem is now controlled by few large companies that are signing up thousands of users each day. Let us try to understand why this is happening by looking at the history of an analogous decentralized protocol.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: The economic impact of Bitcoin
« on: October 21, 2018, 10:23:59 PM »
At one time, very few people thought Bitcoin would ever make a serious impact in the world. Many viewed it as more of an obscure hobby or a pipe dream than a real investment opportunity. Today, the story is quite different.News about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as well as blockchain, is everywhere. Banks, companies, investors and governments have taken a real interest in it.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Is bitcoin risky?
« on: October 21, 2018, 10:22:09 PM »
Financial loss: Bitcoin prices historically have been highly volatile, and fluctuations could result in significant losses for investors.Fraud and cybercrime: These already have occurred. For example, in 2011, Japan-based Mt. Gox, then the largest Bitcoin exchange, experienced a security breach in which 850,000 Bitcoins worth approximately $450 million were stolen. In November 2017, a cryptocurrency called Tether reported a $31 million theft.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Is bitcoin money?
« on: October 21, 2018, 10:18:08 PM »
If we are to be precise about a definition, for something to be used as money it should hold the following properties:Scarcity. There needs to be a finite supply so that the currency maintains its value. There will only ever be 21 million bitcoins, no person can create more bitcoins. This is a rule which is baked into the bitcoin network, and has a very high degree of security.

the risk is always there even in the time of bull run as you may buy it in the top and be stuck with a bags full of coins, so I think that it is dependent on personality not time and wherever there is a risk there is a possibility.
