Study the team members and try to figure out if the team really possess the credentials which they present on their whitepapers and websites. Check out if the advisor chosen for the project is really on board with the team by cross-checking from his tweets on twitter about the projects.

Unfortunately there is no way to know from the beginning. You have to rely on the reputation of the manager, analyse information about the project and much more. Perhaps the service that collect statistics about the conducted bounty might be useful

The best way to check for a scam project is to run some few checks on the team members especially with the credential they present. Follow their social media platform for consistency in the information they provide with that one in their website. Sometimes the bounty manager can give a clue about the authenticity of the project.

I support both bounty and investment as they are the ways through which i earn more income in crypto. I normally participate in bounty programs because it does not require money to get started, hence the end market price does not usually alter your emotions.
