Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Have you make money from ICO?
« on: September 20, 2018, 12:04:42 AM »
I've decided to put a temporary hold on investments in ICO, until there's considerable improvements in ICO performances at the exchanges and the market picks up steam.

In a bullish market condition, I'll sell 70% and ride 30% with the market wave. If in a bears market, I'll sell 100% and wait to buy the dip. This is to ensure I'm not losing money at any point.

I'm a strong advocate of KYC/AML. I believe it's a great tool for curbing the high level of theft and impersonation in bounties. Also, for ICOs, it helps curbs cases of money laundering attempts

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Ideal time for long-term investment

Between 2-3 years is okay for me. And the best time to buy is around January. It's also important to follow the developments on the various projects whose coins you're hodling.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Where can I sell my BTC?
« on: September 19, 2018, 12:42:21 PM »
Depending on your country of residence, there is usually one exchange in your country that you can sell your bitcoin and any other crypto asset. You need to filter your search on the internet and you'll find one. In the absence of any, there are peer to peer (P2P) options with escrow services available for that.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Why is it important to HODL?
« on: September 19, 2018, 12:37:02 PM »
The success in Hodling is highly dependent on the coin you're hodling. If you hodl a worthless coin, and by worthless coin I mean one which the devs of the project have abandoned the project or hardly have any updates on the project. Such coins hardly have any positive price movement and will instead go down further in situations of market dips.

To make of gains in hodling, you need to have good coins in your portfolio and a good coin is the direct office of the one stated above

Cryptocurrency discussions / Report From US OAG on Crypto Exchanges
« on: September 19, 2018, 12:26:44 PM »
Reading the report from the US Attorney General's Office on the activities of crypto exchanges, it was appalling to see that Binance, one of the biggest exchanges in the space, and a few others declined to participate in provision of information on basic practices and functionality. I'll paraphrase the report, "...The OAG sought voluntary participation, expecting that platforms would embrace the opportunity to provide the public with much-needed clarity regarding basic practices and functionality. Most did. Nine of the thirteen platforms participated in the Initiative: Bitfinex (operated by iFinex Inc.), bitFlyer USA, Inc., Bitstamp, Ltd.,[2] Bittrex, Inc., Coinbase, Inc., Gemini Trust Company, itBit (operated by Paxos Trust Company), Poloniex (owned by Circle Internet Financial Limited), and Tidex (operated by Elite Way Developments LLP). The OAG separately invited HBUS – a platform that calls itself the U.S. "strategic partner" of Huobi Inc. – to respond, as the platform opened for trading in July 2018. HBUS elected to do so, and its responses are included in this Report. The information provided by these platforms forms the basis of this Report. Four platforms – Binance Limited, Gate.io (operated by Gate Technology Incorporated), Huobi Global Limited, and Kraken (operated by Payward, Inc.) – claimed they do not allow trading from New York and declined to participate. The OAG investigated whether those platforms accepted trades from within New York State. Based on this investigation, the OAG referred Binance, Gate.io, and Kraken to the Department of Financial Services for potential violation of New York’s virtual currency regulations."

Should this be a cause for worry by users of these platform?

Sorting Box / Re: More than 90% of airdrops are fake
« on: September 19, 2018, 12:17:20 PM »
I've literally stopped filling those google forms in the name of airdrops. I have not gotten any tangible amount of money from airdrops especially in 2018. I have instead been spammed with scam emails which I know is a direct repercussion of filling up fictitious airdrop forms. Good a thing I created a separate email for airdrops.

Cryptocurrencies haven't gotten wide adoptions to the extent that they threaten fiats and the banks that issue them. Cryptos mostly facilitate peer to peer transactions mostly and with the banks, they're needed in some big transactions because how safe they are. More so, banks are being controlled by central governments of individual countries, especially their Central Banks.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Alts Rally, will it be sustained?
« on: September 19, 2018, 10:57:41 AM »
In past two days, a lot of alts have rallied in price, yesterday saw some huge pumps in the price of XRP and few other alts rallied up in price as well. Is it safe to say the market is picking up steam and it will be sustained or this is just a bull trap?

The accusation that bounty hunters causes to ICOs or cause the drop in the price of tokens is actually very false. I have the following reasons to back up my claim;

1. Most ICOs have just 1% or 2% maximum for bounties and airdrop. This implies that the remaining 99% of the coins stays with the core investors of the project and the project team. This is not forgetting the private pre-sale investors who get issued big bonuses. Let's say team token are vested for certain periods, usually between 6 months to 3 years depending on the project. Those guys with big bonuses cause the loses to projects in my honest opinion as the team would like to make their investors happy.

2. Projects like Ontology and Project Hydro gave straight airdrops without doing ICOs and their coins are still doing well in the market. Why have the projects not suffered losses because of those huge airdrops given?

In summary, a good project will do well whether or not bounty hunters dump their tokens.

EOS Forum / Re: IMPORTANT DATES FOR WORBLI & EOS HODLERS

Will EOS wallets that was snapshot before the mainnet launch be eligible to receive WORBLI?

EOS Forum / Difficulty with EOS mainnet
« on: September 18, 2018, 05:04:30 PM »
Unlike the Ethereum Network, EOS is sort of not user friendly and not simplified for the non-tech oriented person to use. Creating a new wallet on EOS remains a tall. Transferring tokens from EOS wallet to an exchange is yet another, the chances that could them tokens is so high.
