Nigerian Languages / Re: Nigeria bank ban crypto how it affects us
« on: March 01, 2024, 07:52:25 AM »
The decision taking by the central bank of Nigeria recently to ban crypto transactions through banks and financial institutions caused a lot of limitations In the country. This decision has made it difficult for Nigerians to buy and sell crypto, this as cause the reduction of value of crypto assets in Nigeria. Some citizens believes that the ban of cryptocurrency is the freedom of Nigeria to trade and Invest As they like, that it brings negative impact on Nigeria economy. One if the aims of bank ban of cryptocurrency is to drive the crypto market underground, making it difficult to assess and reduce the risk of fraud and scam.Do you think there is a way to regulate crypto without being banned entirely?
There are other ways to regulate crypto without ban. One, when people buy and sell crypto. This require exchange license , implementation of anti- money laundering and knowing your customers protocols and be vigilant in any activity.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Crypto is causing fiat to lose value?
« on: March 01, 2024, 07:25:32 AM »
Crypto-currency is being accepted in many places as a form of payment to replace fiat, so sometimes crypto is considered by governments as a risk that affects the right to regulate the national economy. However, I never thought that someone could say that crypto is the cause of fiat's devaluation. At least until Nigeria's Presidential Adviser shared his views.

The adviser argues that cryptocurrency exchange platforms are exacerbating the devaluation of the naira, Nigeria's national currency. He also criticizes Binance, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, for setting exchange rates that undermine the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) authority. The Nigerian government is wary of the volatile nature of cryptocurrencies and the risks they pose to economic stability. Consequently, the government is considering a comprehensive ban on crypto platforms to protect the naira and ensure fiscal discipline.

"Through a series of statements on his X account, Onanuga has called for decisive action against cryptocurrency exchange platforms, accusing them of exacerbating the devaluation of the naira, Nigeria's national currency[1]."

I am not surprised by the series of news related to the war between the Nigerian government and Crypto:
  • Feb 2021: The Central Bank of Nigeria bars banks and financial institutions from dealing in or facilitating transactions in crypto assets, embezzling money laundering and terrorism financing risks[2].
  • Dec 2023: Nigeria's central bank has lifted a ban on transacting in cryptocurrencies, while saying global trends had shown a need to regulate such activities[3].
  • Jan 2024: Nigeria's central bank released has inaugural guidelines for banks opening cryptocurrency accounts, while retaining its ban on them holding or trading in virtual assets on their own behalf[4].
But it seems Nigeria's Presidential Adviser is confusing Reason and Result: The Reason was Nigeria's economic downturn, which led to the devaluation of fiat, Resulting in people choosing to accumulate crypto to protect their assets. The Presidential Adviser may have its own opinion, but NGNUSD data does not lie.

NGNUSD chart shows that over the past decade, NGN has lost 90% of its value compared to USD. I don't think this is a result of the emergence of crypto in Nigeria. In NGN's devaluation scandal, crypto is innocent!

I count this intentional confusion as intentional deception to cause misunderstanding among people with little understanding of the crypto market. For those holding crypto, these lies will have no impact whatsoever, they understand that crypto is helping them protect their assets and avoid the risks of fiat's crazy devaluation.

What do you think about this Presidential Adviser's slander against crypto? Will this become a new behavior that other governments can learn to crack down on crypto?

[2] Nigeria's banks barred from cryptocurrency transactions -central bank

[4] Nigeria slaps strict rules on banks after lifting crypto ban

This ideal that crypto is competing with fiat currency and causing them to lose value. Crypto is a global decentralized, highly liquid asset that easy to transfer and exchange. That's why many people choose it rather than traditional fiat Currencies. Crypto is not causing any damages to the value of Fiat currency, it's just that the total market cap of all cryptocurrency is still tiny fraction of the global economy. What do you think about this?

Stats from last year's Coingecko market report reveal a decline in NFT adoption compared to fungible tokens and the 2022 trading volume. This prompts consideration for aggressive investments in the sector. Noteworthy NFT-integrated projects like Mavia and the recent Animalia, an online NFT trading card game, have emerged showing a glimpse of prospect for NFT-related crypto projects.
https://www.coingecko.com/research/publications/2023-annual-crypto-report

As a non-gamer navigating the unpredictable crypto space, the drop in last year's NFT trading volume to 11.8 billion, in contrast to 2022's 26.3 billion, raises concerns. However, closely monitoring these NFT-related projects could prove rewarding if a different scenario unfolds this year.

The question lingers: Will this year bring a shift, or are there indices signaling a potential bullish sentiment for NFTs and their related projects?
In addition NFTs or non fungible tokens, have their up and down in the crypto space. They are popularity in 2021, but the market cool off a bit in 2022. Moreover, they still have a relavance in the crypto space. They offer unique way to create digital scarcity, and are used to represent all kinds of digital assets, From music to art to game items. Technology holding NFTs are still improving and developing, there are still potential for growth.

Ethereum Forum / Re: The future of Ethereum in 2024?
« on: February 29, 2024, 09:00:45 PM »

Ethereum is a potential coin for the future it is believed and it can be predicted that its price will reach a very good position by 2030. Ethereum 2.0 has so much potential that by 2030 it can be expected that if the price of Bitcoin exceeds $100k then the price of Italy mangoes will exceed $10k. But no one can give any guarantee about crypto so if one wants to invest by believing it then he can invest with risk. and can hold it for a long time.

If you talk about Ethereum price at 2030, it will touch $ 10K I think It's reasonable. Current Ethereum is price $ 2,921 before halving. Ethereum will reach around $ 4 at halving as many people predicted. Yeah , I agree with you Ethereum will have good future.
I believe so, Ethereum might surpass $5k before the 2025 because it's a potential coin it will be alot. It's regarded as the world largest second cryptocurrency because it has unique earning opportunities for investor's.

Ethereum Forum / Re: Ethereum hits $3k for the first time since 2022
« on: February 29, 2024, 08:53:03 PM »
Why is no one talking about this?

https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2024/02/20/ether-hits-3k-for-first-time-in-nearly-2-years-amid-rising-eth-etf-excitement/

Quote
The price of ether (ETH), the native token to the Ethereum network, rose past $3,000 for the first time since April 2022 on Tuesday, continuing a recent hot streak.
Ether's price rose about 1.6% over the past 24 hours and has risen over 12% in the past week, outpacing other cryptocurrencies, according to data from CoinGecko.

This is good news for Ethereum holders, first time to see this price, and it's just 40% from it's previous high. So it means altcoins is also going bullish this time. In the case of Ethereum, the news that in May they might see a Spot ETF approval is on the horizon.

And that timing though is good as we could be in the start of the bull run that time.

Well, for the first time Ethereum holders are experiencing that huge profit, it benefits those who have HODL Ethereum network from 2015 till date, I believe it will go more than this. DYOR

The crypto market is warming up after the recovery of BTC and many Altcoins, the community is talking about expectations, about new ATHs in 2024 and 2025. It seems like everyone is very optimistic, very excited to think about a good future in this crypto market. Everyone is thinking about the profits they will have after this cycle, and I'm sure everyone has a plan to use those profits most effectively.

I also have a lot of plans, but other than reinvesting in the market during the crypto winter to buy more tokens and get more profits in the next cycle, I think profits from the crypto market should bring positive values to my real life.

I know that this crypto market is really potential and creates extremely large profits in the uptrend. A token's price increase of 1000% in an uptrend year is considered a weak increase and not an effective investment in the crypto market, stock investors are always surprised about this. But the market also contains many risks and creates pressure when investing, holding and trading. Many investors I know have looked much older after just 1 cycle in this market. It would be bad if profits continued to put more pressure on their lives, we only have 1 life to live   ::)

I am not a professional investor, I DCA so there is less pressure. But to be honest, I still cannot escape all the negative impacts of the market. I hold BTC and I'm happy when the BTC price increases, I'm sad when the BTC price drops, even though I have determined to hold BTC for 1-2 years and will not sell regardless of any fluctuations during that time. I think many other investors also have similar feelings, things will be worse for traders participating in Margin and Future!

To balance those negative emotions, I always spend 50% of my profits from the crypto market to spend on family needs, usually buying gifts for members. The biggest joy I can mention is that in the previous cycle, I took profits in BTC and used the profits to buy a new iPad for my daughter to use. She loves it and even named the Ipad as "iBit" because I told her: the Ipad is gift from Bitcoin (and not from BTC Spot ETF of BlackRock). Don't worry, I still don't want to teach her DCA BTC, her childhood needs to be protected  ;D

I know this joy is very small for many others, but it is big enough to give me more motivation to try harder in this market. There's nothing better than when profits from the crypto market become the joy of the person I love the most  :-*

I know many people who enter the market and are very successful, they have huge profits but all they do is invest. They almost forget that they also need to spend and use the profits from the crypto market to make their lives better.

I want to hear from you:
  • Have you ever been profitable and taken profits in the crypto market?
  • How did you use that profit? Do you use that profit or reinvest it?
  • Do you think using profits is also important for your investment journey?

It really depends on the individual and the amount of financial goals. It's by choice some make cash out their profits and spend on something meaningful or useless some people will choose to buy house, car or invest again for more profits or invest in othe businesses. Some may use their money to support the less privilege or organization. It all depends on the individual and their choice.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Crypto in the next generation
« on: February 29, 2024, 12:19:47 AM »
Crypto currency is a global currency that is not controlled by a particular government, it has enhanced the rate of trading and foreign exchange.
The question is, how do we picture our next spam?
Civilization in the world today, has made everything much more easier and accessible, individually and also for group or members of a society at large. The creation and innovation of ideas and skills to promote public awareness of how crypto currency works and also the benefits of it is done on almost all or all social media platforms today, but most people still don't know about it.
In the coming generation, I think crypto currency will be used more often, because we are moving to a digital era where computers and AI will help in performing most human activities and tasks... The future generation will be a crypto world and many people will earn online in crypto currency...

Correction to that crypto currency is control by a particular government it's not control by any government, We can't predict the future of cryptocurrency, it's a possibility of how it can be used in the future. The best part of it is that crypto can be used as a payment method replacement to those fialt currencies.

Nigerian Languages / Re: Poor income
« on: February 28, 2024, 03:39:53 PM »
Nigeria as a whole suffer poverty as a result of a number of factors, including, limited jobs, low wages and safety nets. The minimum wage they are paying is very low and many people earn less than that imagine how can they survive.including the high rate of unemployment in the country even those with jobs still struggling to meet their needs. We lack social programs like education and healthcare training. What do you think is the major factor that contributes to poverty in Nigeria. The cause of low salary and high price of commodity is causing difficulty in many individuals. When you look at the price of cement now and look at the salary you earn monthly not even enough to feed. Nigeria among all other countries are the 3rd with poverty, very poor infrastructure and economic impact.
The cost of living for this country is so hard no be lie the poverty rate too much, the unemployment for the country no work , youths leaders of tomorrow no get hope again na all this thing dey discourage many parents to train their children. It's very bad  government should see reason and focus on how to reduce the poverty rate.

OP, I'm not sure what you wanted to say here. Everything you stated is quite general and without any conclusion.
What is HODL? just like that, buy crypto and keep it, is that your proposal for making money? if I buy 0.1 BTC today and hold it for 4 years, how much BTC will I earn during that time?
Talking about "trading buying and selling p2p" seems to make it the simplest thing. Do you have any success in trading and can you share it with us?
HODL "hold on your dear life" assuming you bought Bitcoin 2010 when it was not up to a dollar and you keep it up till now the price will he go up or down? Because comparing now and then is almost about 13 years so HODL is a long term investment.

Nigerian Languages / Re: Inflation in Nigeria
« on: February 24, 2024, 07:08:30 AM »
The price of dollar to naira latelely has increased, which is affecting the price of goods and services and has led to inflation in the country.
The question many people may ask is ,
1. What is the meaning of inflation ?
2. What is the cause of inflation ?

I will start by defining the word "Inflation "

Inflation is the rate of increase in prices over a given period of time or tge increase in cost of living in a country. Generally, inflation also affects our exchange rate in the country.

The main cause of inflation in our modern day is; Devaluation. And Devaluation occurs when a currency loses value in comparison to other currencies. This makes imports more expensive and can lead to inflation ...
Wetin I dey concerned about na why dollar go increase like with that kind value , everything just hard for Nigeria cost of living is too expensive. Wetin really dey make this dollar high so, we don taya like serious make government do something about this .

Nigerian Languages / increase in dollar price
« on: February 24, 2024, 06:35:16 AM »
Dollar increase or inflation is cause by so many things. dollar inflation can either affect on the positive or negative side. It can be caused by the increase of importation of good or  increase in money supply, depending of the situation are you worried about the inflation? On the positive side today those earning in us dollars the price inflation encourage them to spend and invest their money, rather than keeping it. Many youth and people today especially Nigeria some are happy for the dollar inflation, some are suffering because they can't afford things because of the price increase. Some people are still struggling with their low salary and there  boom dollar increase, price of goods and commodity, "hard life " making goods and services more expensive.  This have cause the standard of living to decrease everybody dey manage now. The people that are gaining from the increase are those earning in USD example politicians and businesses connect from abroad. Any specific questions about dollar inflation?

Nigerian Languages / The best cryptocurrency to invest on 2024
« on: February 23, 2024, 10:31:36 PM »
It's very difficult to determine the particular cryptocurrency to invest on or to know the one that will be popular, most  popular crypto which includes Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana and USDT. It's better for you to check the market price because think of investment in any coin at the moment for the price changes and different market analysis. All this coins have different advantage and disadvantages. It's very important for you to do your research before embarking on your crypto journey, however there are many factors affecting the value of cryptocurrency.there are many factors you would like to consider first, the community and user base, the team behind the project, roadmap and development.
