General Discussion / Second-largest cryptocurrency is ripple
« on: January 06, 2018, 02:58:12 PM »
The ripple ecosystem is definitely going to have to get a lot bigger to justify where XRP is right now," said Michael Graham, an analyst at Canaccord Genuity who has covered internet stocks since the late 1990s.

When asked which firms are using XRP, a Ripple spokesperson pointed only to an October announcement that said a bank called Cuallix is the first financial institution to use XRP, in this case for U.S.-Mexico transactions. No other firms were named.

However, Ripple said in a tweet Thursday that 3 of the top 5 global money transfer companies plan to use XRP in payment flows in 2018.

Bitcoin Forum / Bitcoin Price Surges 10% to $16,300 After Week Long Slump
« on: January 05, 2018, 03:32:30 PM »
The bitcoin price has started to demonstrate early signs of recovery and an upward trend after experiencing a week-long slump. :D
Over the past 24 hours, the price of bitcoin has surged by more than 10 percent, increasing from $14,500 to $17,000 at its peak. Since then, in the past three hours, the price of bitcoin has stabilized in the $16,300 region.

Currently, most of the largest trading pairs of bitcoin are alternative cryptocurrency-to-BTC pairs, including Tron (TRX), Ether, and Ripple. According to CoinMarketCap, Tron remains as the largest trading pair in the bitcoin market ahead of the USD-to-BTC pair, settling more than $2.8 billion on Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange.

Cryptocurrency Dogecoin that was created as a parody and named after an internet meme now has a market value of more than $1 billion.

Data from CoinMarketCap showed dogecoin's current market value is about $1.17 billion — as of Jan. 5, 2:56 p.m. HK/SIN — and traded at $0.010360 per token.

Last month, the virtual coin rose more than 400 percent and briefly topped $0.0107 in late December.

Dogecoin is an example of an altcoin, which are peer-to-peer digital tokens that descended from bitcoin. The more popular ones include ethereum, which topped $1,000 for the first time on Thursday, and ripple, which saw a staggering 35,000 percent jump in its value last year.

Dogecoin, for its part, was created in 2013 and its mascot is a Japanese shiba inu dog popularized by an internet meme that dates back to 2010. The creators of dogecoin positioned the virtual token as "the internet currency" that can allow users to easily send money online.

There are several ways to get dogecoins: Users can buy them at online exchanges, get tipped in the cryptocurrency and even mine them.

The virtual currency's meteoric rise in recent months has the project's creator expressing concern about market excess. Jackson Palmer, the founder of dogecoin who left the team in 2015, told cryptocurrency news site CoinDesk that it was telling that the token saw such a sharp jump in price even when the project hadn't released a software update in over 2 years.

The total value of cryptocurrencies is over $750 billion, according to CoinMarketCap, and bitcoin dominates nearly 40 percent of that market.

« on: January 04, 2018, 05:14:58 PM »
Don't exchange your onion. The price of deeponion will increase. I had 15 deeponion, market value was 45 $ usd. today it is 113 $ usd. In a difference of 3 weeks it has gone up. So hold your deeponion.

Don't sell your litecoin now. You should hold your litecoin few more months. Litecoin's market value will rise in few weeks.

General Discussion / Google hit with revised gender pay lawsuit
« on: January 04, 2018, 05:00:53 PM »
Four former Google employees, who previously worked in a range of roles at the company, have come forward as part of a revised gender-pay lawsuit filed on Wednesday.

Three of the women were part of an earlier lawsuit filed in September alleging that female employees are paid less than their male counterparts. That suit was dismissed in December by a California judge who rejected the class action claim as overly broad.

This newly filed suit more clearly defines the groups allegedly hindered by Google's unfair pay practices, including engineering, management, sales, and teaching roles.
The new suit adds a fourth former female worker, Heidi Lamar, who was employed by Google as a teacher at Google's Children Center in Palo Alto from around July 2013 to August 2017. Google offers childcare and early education as a perk for its employees.
Lamar claims that of the 150 teachers employed by Google during her tenure, just three were men. Two of the men hired were paid more than all but one of the women hired, she alleges.
