Cryptocurrency discussions / KYC and Airdrop Token
« on: September 22, 2018, 02:11:54 PM »
Recently, some airdrops require identification documents to be uploaded before airdrop tokens are distributed. Emails are sent as a reminder to complete the KYC process.  Share your thought on this issue

I happen to be in a group that has to be with Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general. There was an argument recently, for and against, about the fact that non-existence (if possible) of Bitcoin would render or make Ethereum (and other altcoins) useless.
The stronger argument which is for Bitcoin had it that if it happens that there was no Bitcoin again, other coins/tokens would also stop having values. They might justify this because bearish trend in Bitcoin affects almost all other, and for other related reasons.

In my own knowing, I knew that Bitcoin came on the scene the first, and that the idea of it inspired Ethereum second, which gave platform for many Ethereum-based tokens, and there are also other platform-based tokens also like Wave, Stellar, etc
Could all of these starting from Ethereum still exit or useful if Bitcoin wouldn't be any more?
The answer to me is in affirmative, but can anyone lecture on why not?
Insightful answers please.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Mastering Ethereum
« on: September 22, 2018, 01:51:20 PM »
Dear all,
Has anyone read the draft of the book "Mastering Ethereum" by Andreas M. Antonopoulos and Gavin Wood?
If so, what are your impressions? Is it worth reading or should I wait for the official release of the book?
And as a side question, has anyone tried to compile the book from AsciiDoc format to PDF/EPUB/etc? Have you experienced any issues and how have you solved them?
Thank you,

How long do you think will the cryptocurrency be popular? Does she substitution the usual fiat money? How many years will pass before this?

Cryptocurrency discussions / how to choose a new coin
« on: September 22, 2018, 01:14:19 PM »
Did it have an ICO?
Is there a founder’s reward?
Is there no hard cap on coin creation?
Was there a premine?
Did you learn about it through a paid advertisement?
Does it fail to create a new usage case for crypto?

If the answer to any of those questions is “yes” then you should probably choose a different coin.

Cryptocurrency discussions / It is hard to detect scammed bounty campaign..
« on: September 22, 2018, 12:54:55 PM »
It is really hard to detect scammed bounty campaign.  After completing all the requirements to be able to get accepted in a bounty campaign, spending much time to participate in forums and not to mention carrying their banners, completing all the tasks and reports then all of a sudden you will just find out that you have been scammed already.  luckily I am not the only one but to think all participants did the same efforts as well as you did.  But it is really happening, lesson learned and could be just charge it to experience and move on.  If we could only find out at early stage if we were in to scam or a legit bounty campaign.  Who would really know anyway?

Hi there

On this forum, we have a great (and one of my favorite) BTC Wall Observer topic and I really like its format — something similar with chat

So you can read and share actual news fast and in one place and discuss it immediately.

This kind of topic is also necessary to Altcoin Discussion

So.. all your thoughts, price charts, news, and humor — are welcome

Cryptocurrency discussions / Best chain for multiple tokens
« on: September 22, 2018, 10:39:27 AM »
Dear all,
Wanted to get your opinion about the best chain and technology, such as Ethereum or Waves for an application that will regularly create new tokens representing new assets.
For example a company wants to initially offer only one token, representing lets say an ounce of gold. Then, after some time, the company wants to offer another token, representing lets say an ounce of silver, etc.
A couple of requirements for the application:
1) The chain must be the same for the tokens, so that different tokens could be sent to the same address.
2) Tokens could be added and removed as time goes by.
If someone has experience with similar applications, I would appreciate if you could share some details.
