Basic Questions about Cryptos / Re: Are you new? So stay away from trading.
« on: December 31, 2023, 11:19:36 PM »
at the start i faced losses too. because crypto trading is very accessible alot of people think they can do it but there is so much to learn.

reading charts and the various signals and getting the timing as close as possible, being aware of the different fees and how to cover costs etc. is important

Rhen there is also the mental side of things and how to be patient and not be led by emotions - thats difficult to master i think.

maybe the incoming bitcoin halving is floating all boats as the saying goes.

there is more interest now in bitcoin and crypto because of the expectation of big prices so people hopefully will want to talk, discuss and learn more about what is going on.

also what about the new signature campaigns for the mixing services, could they be attracting more activity?

General Discussion / Re: Teleported and original discussion
« on: December 31, 2023, 11:03:34 PM »
I just came across this discussion and like wow, this taught first came to my mind, when I went through some spreadsheets from Royce777 campaign and that of jurlez. The truth is, campaign managers have the right to choose whomever they want for their campaign, and we shouldn't try to dictate that. One idea I had was that it might make more sense if 50% of campaign participants were from this forum, and the remaining 50% were members from Bitcointalk. This way, there wouldn't be arguments about impartiality or bias.

this is probably the best suggestion I have read on this thread. to be fair about migrating onto this forum en-masse the campaign membership should have been divided between native and teleported accounts.

i went over to the bitcoin talks forum to see if there was anything there about this and what is happening is that mixer services are no longer allowed to advertise on the forum so they have moved everything to here and just in the case of the thread topic just moved the members too.

General Discussion / Re: How do you feel about bitcoin games?
« on: December 31, 2023, 10:42:11 PM »
I would just keep it simple and invest in BTC and avoid the gimmicks

yea i second that!

bitcoin is the #1 with the biggest market cap, its attracting attention from traditional investors, i'm not interested in bitcoin games, im sure there are other crypto projects handling that side of things somewhere.

keep bitcoin for investing and HODL'ing

the bitcoin courses at saylor.org are not necessarily narrated by Michael himself. the courses are not anything like his interviews where he is expected to give the investor and FIAT v bitcoin analogies and ideas which we have become so used to seeing.

look at the introduction for the Bitcoin for Everybody course, its clear that it caters for the beginner and starts with the basics.

Quote
This course will take you through the basics of Bitcoin for beginners: Bitcoin economics, investment, philosophy, and history, as well as its technical and practical components. Once you have completed this course, you will have a basic level of Bitcoin knowledge and be able to start interacting with Bitcoin by buying, receiving, storing, and spending it.

Sections to the course are:
Bitcoin Economics
Bitcoin Investment
Bitcoin History and Philosophy
Bitcoin Technology
Bitcoin Practice

Crypto Wallets / Re: Which is the best wallet?
« on: December 31, 2023, 12:22:36 AM »

But my suggestion is to use Trezor hardware wallet (https://trezor.io/trezor-model-one) the price is $59 not too expensive, I use this wallet to store BTC and some other coins.

I can also vouch for the Trezor product line because its what I have been using for a number of years now.

they are very versatile and mine hasnt failed in these years.

They are open source coding
you can sign messages
create multiple hidden wallets

I just want to add that as well as using a hardware wallet its extremely important to be mindful of securing and storing your passphrase and wallet seed, actually this applies to all wallets actually.

this might sound obvious to most but some people think it might be ok to store it on the cloud or in an email but I would definitely store it offline in a very secure place.

all about Karma HERE

everyone hates both plagiarised text and AI generated text.

please use your initiative and learn as you progress into the forum.

you can research a topic and use the information from that but you cannot just employ AI to do the work for you.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Don't buy bitcoin only because of FOMO
« on: December 31, 2023, 12:04:12 AM »
I think most of the people who bought Bitcoin when it was falling in value couldn't keep their savings. In fact, very few people have an accurate idea of when a bull market will occur. But those who have been patient after investing in bitcoins have benefited a lot at the end of the day. So my personal opinion is that holding bitcoins has the potential to be profitable in the future. But most people cannot survive for this. It is not possible for everyone to be patient for a long time.
The next Bitcoin halving is expected in April next year, which is just over three months. It is recommended to buy Bitcoin about six months before this event. By the end of 2024, it should rise significantly in price and surpass its previous price record. Therefore, now it is quite possible to buy until its price rises significantly. But I think that before the halving there will still be a significant price correction. Then you can buy it much cheaper than today's price. But this is everyone's choice.

its everyones choice alright but as we get closer to the halving an when the price starts to climb there will definitely be FOMO.

when the price passes the ATH of $69000 there will definitely be FOMO.

It happens every time, some people wont understand the bitcoin cycle and will buy in at the wrong time approaching the end of the bull run and they will sell after the drop.

if you are going to FOMO hopefully you will have patience to HODL through the bear season which can be very bleak.

and they most always are based around COMPOUND INTEREST which means the "potential" to make quick and big profit is immense but if you study the logistics of them they are totally unsustainable.

where is your interest coming from?
its coming from the poor souls who join up after you with the money they put in hoping to make just as much money as you.

this also means you are paying the interest for the guys who joined before you.

these HYIP sites dont last long, they pull the plug as soon as the scam becomes saturated and just before the house of cards implodes on itself.

you see they put in a small amount, enough to pay the initial people who join and soon when they get more members it kind of is self sufficient up to the point of the implosion leaving everyone bar the initial few high and dry.

new members feed the scam

stay well away and feel guilty if you join one and make money because if you do someone lost money.

this should be moved to Scams and Phishing

Argentina’s President Javier Milei has sent a massive new bill to Congress to adopt a scheme of regulations to advance his goal of modernizing the Argentine state. If approved, the bill would allow Milei to legislate by executive order... See more for yourself here.

Your opinion is greatly appreciated.
The Senates or whosoever the president is submitting the proposal to should be very careful and must put the interest of the citizens first. I think the president is asking for too much seeing how things might turn out when he gets too many powers. To me, I don't see the privatization of State own company as good proposal. I don't understand why he is running away from his responsibilities. When privatization comes in, the government can no longer dictate for the masses, but would be left with just one person dictating for millions.

In conclusion, I appreciate his support for the crypto community, but i don't think he needs these too many powers he is asking for.

he is asking for alot but alot needs to change in argentina, whether it can all be done in a time frame he chooses is another thing.

maybe the approach is to try and seek approval for "everything" and hope that some of it gets passed for now.

i like the proposal of this new asset regulation proposal

Quote
he document further introduces a new asset regulation proposal that allows Argentines to declare ownership of several assets, including “cryptocurrencies, crypto assets, and other similar goods, regardless of who has been their issuer, who is their owner or where they were deposited, guarded or stored,” paying up to 15% on the calculated excess of the first $100,000 regularized. This means the first $100,000 in regularized assets would not be subject to paying anything under the proposal.

Forum related / Re: What is the purpose of automated posts here?
« on: December 30, 2023, 06:56:58 PM »
it seems like an idea to have it only visible to certain low ranks and then it no longer shows up for the higher ranked members.

I have suggested this to the admin on another thread, and the admin said he would consider it. I don't know if the admin is the only person who currently codes this forum. If he is the only one, it may take a long time to code and release these things. I don't want to hurry because as long as he promised to take a look, he may do it today or tomorrow. Until then, let's wait. Maybe we might get used to it with the banner. LOL.

Nice one!

I wonder actually how many active moderators/staff there are?

I know the forum is "self moderating" but surely there is a
team to at least check occasionally and or fix bugs/implement changes or is it indeed down to one person?

im only on here for 1 day and i have a fairly good grasp of where different things are located.

tbh i cant understand how anyone would post their frustrations after being only here for a very short space of time.

its a forum with different sections, how difficult can it be?
