It's good to see a new face to win the championship this year. Out of the four teams remaining, I think Tatum and the Celtics deserves it the most but I have no problem if Luka's Mavs gets it. Anyway, how do you plan on betting in game 1 of the EC Finals? Are you going to skip it to see how they will match up?

Betting for the Pacers +9.5 @2.01 as this game is like a getting to know each other game hehe so i think even if the Celtics win game 1 they will not cover the spread. But i would love to see the Pacers upset the Celtics in the East Finals as i have a bet on them @15.0, very juicy to think that the Celtics is a beatable team.

General Discussion / Re: Do you think the earth is flat?
« on: May 20, 2024, 01:47:15 PM »
From high school curriculum, geography tells us that the earth isn't flat but spherical ( shape of am egg) and the difference in time zones and the rotation of the earth around its orbit proves this.
If the earth was flat, then the whole world would experience daylight and night at the same time and the the whole world would be using the same time zone.
We all know that the earth rotates, it was flat, the whole world would get the same reaction whenever the rotation occurs.

That's what they taught us at school that the earth is spherical in shape and that is also the shape that astronauts see from up above so there is no need to argue that the earth is flat hehe.

Fury was about to go down he couldn't even raise his hands, if it weren't for the referee stepping in, he'd be KO'd. i don't know if referee will also step in if this happens to Usyk but its definitely intervening to a fight result.
no referee would count it as knockdown when you just lean on ropes.

I watched the replay of round 9 numerous times to see if one of the gloves of Tyson Fury touched the canvas but neither touched the ground so the referee was saving Fury on what could have been a devastating KO loss, just my opinion though based on what I saw.

Result from last night's game:

1st game:
Meralco - 103
Ginebra - 91

2nd game:
SMB - 106
ROS - 89

1-1 on my bets last night, won on the first game but lost on the second game. June Mar Fajardo imposes his will on the Elastopainters and there is no one who could stop in the paint if there is no double.

24Wins - 21Losses, my standing thus far.

Game 7 in the Denver vs Twolves series however is a toss up. Both teams have shown they can win on the other teams home court. Both teams have shown they can blowout the other. This series is gonna come down to heart. Should be a great game to watch.

And it was a great game indeed. Who would have thought that the Wolves would come back from that 20-point deficit in the third quarter? Those offensive putbacks in the dying minutes sealed the game for the Wolves, if only the Nuggets managed to grab those defensive rebounds, that could be a close game but it is what it is and the Wolves marched on to face the Mavs in the West finals.

I will probably go with the Dallas Mavericks here at -1.5, it's their homecourt and it's crucial that they don't want a game 7 as maybe the young body of OKC might take over.
You must be so disappointed in PJ Washington right now for missing the last free throw ;D

What a dramatic end to the game. SGA will probably look back at this game thinking of that last foul. It was still a great season for him and I'm looking forward how he and that young Thunders team will mature and improve next season

Lol, part of the game and also part of betting as we often lost by that 1 point margin, not new to us. For my part, i was just happy that PJ Washington hit those two crucial free throws as his percentage on that department is not so good.

Whoever win in the Nuggets vs Wolves series, Mavs got a fighting chance as they have Gafford and Lively manning the middle.

I lost this one too but the close fight still made it worth betting on. I think Fury played too much in the early round. We all know that it's part of his fighting style but, in a fight with so much at stake, nobody could afford to waste a round.

The fact is that it is going to the championship round. Fury believes that he is leading in the scorecard, which is why he is toying around, but the fight could have been over in round 9 if only the referee had not interfered. Is there a ruling in standing 8 counts? All I know is that you have to go down to be counted.
I agree with the decision that Usyk deserves the decision he connected more, he is the more aggressive one, I lost a bet to my cousin but its nothing compared to the excitement of the fight, I read that they will run this again come October, so we'll see.

I was also puzzled on why the referee interfered in that round, i thought he interferes to stop the fight and award Usyk the TKO by it seems the he saved Fury from being knockout, that's the first i saw that scenario in pro boxing but Usyk have won the fight and it is now for Fury to activate the rematch clause.

26
I already made my bet for Fury to win by decision here. ML is also a great bet, but Fury by decision is 3.x.

And so this is going to be historic fight for boxing fans as this is a unification fight and for sure we doesn't want to miss this big fight. And it looks like Fury was lighter than usual, meaning he wants more movement and will try to outbox as much as he can Usyk.

So goodluck to anyone here.

We lost our bet bro as Usyk won by split decision, that could have been a very juicy odds if we bet for him hehe. A very close fight though that warrants a rematch, i just hope that they have a rematch clause.

I think if they really fight, but not perform like actors, then 2 minutes will be enough for this fight. I remember that Mike Tyson style was always aggressive. Not many of his fights went full distance. If he knocked out his opponent, then that happened in first part of the fight. I have watched Jake and Logan Paul fights previously, and I think that Jake will jump on a Mike like a hurricane like his brother Logan jumped on Floyd Mayweather in the very start of their fight. And Mike will welcome Jake with his counterpunch.

Aging is a thing though. There's a reason athletes retire. Mike Tyson at 58 is not even remotely the same as Mike Tyson at his prime. Jake Paul knows that, that's why he made this fight happen.
I think pressuring hard and swarming Jake with punches from the first minute could be a good game plan for Tyson, not the other way around. He still has a lot of power, but he must be lacking in stamina at his age.
I'll also recommend that, and his team knows that Tyson still has the power, but that power cannot keep up after round 5 because age will come into play. If Paul is still good past the fifth round, then he has a good chance because he has the youth to last the fight.
So Tyson's chance is to knock him out in the early rounds, and if he fails, Paul might knock him out.

I agree that if Tyson wants to win then he should KO Paul in the first three rounds at least because the longer the fight goes on, the riskier it is for Mike Tyson because of the youth advantage of Paul who has the stamina to go the distance.

Result from last night's game:

1st game:
SMB - 101
ROS - 98

2nd game:
Ginebra - 92
Meralco - 88

Didn't bet for those games last because i was observing how the matchups fare against each other. Though SMB won but i didn't cover the spread as it was a close one while Ginebra covered a slim spread. On game 2 i would bet on the underdogs as both team got a chance to win or at least cover the spread.

23Wins - 20Losses, my standing thus far.

Shakur vs Loma will give the fans about 12 rounds of because they are both good at avoiding getting hit. Shakurt however is not a finisher.
It's going to be a snoozefest for some/many fans. I'm already reading comments about how boring this is going to be and I think that's also a factor whether the promoters want to push this fight or not. It will probably not generate the amount of PPV buys and Gate that they wanted.

This is the reason why i chooses Tank Davis over Shakur Stevenson because the latter is not a crowd drawer and his style is more on the defensive, snore fest indeed if Loma and Shakur would meet in the ring. At this stage of his career, Loma needs money fights and Tank Davis could give him that.

I do agree, I would love to see Davis vs Loma as well in the ring. But still depends on how Bob Arum will approach the camp of Tank for this great fight. And now that there are controversies as whether organizations are capping a 12 lbs in every fight moving forward are rehydration clause.

But anyways, let's see, a power puncher vs the technical skills of Loma that will be a great match-up to see and we will wait who will prevail in this kind of fights. And it's going to be unpredictable.

The camp of Tank Davis will do its best to outsmart their opponent, that 12-pound rehydration clause is for me a coward act. They are fighting for a championship belt then why stipulate that in the contract, they should fight in the lower division if they don't want their opponent to be bigger than them.
