Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: The impact of crypto on our lives
« on: January 09, 2024, 03:23:52 PM »
I'm one of those lucky for whom it's been beneficial. To be honest, I only use BTC, XMR and DAI, so it was a question of timing / holding (=luck?), I'm not a trader at all.

I've worked in the industry and I've seen colleagues of all kinds: some were still holding when they'd done x20, others behaved like the worst gamblers at every signal and ended up poorer and poorer, and the overwhelming majority for whom nothing much happened: not enough reserve to change their life when it went up, but not huge losses either. Some of them became very rich over the years, but I would say that it was a minority.
Tdlr: Behaviour remains the same, some people are intelligent, some are lucky, some are compulsive, etc. Crypto or FIAT (gambling, lack of skills to manage a budget etc...), we're still human.

Im sorry to be out off topic, is it true that DAI is a stable coin Anonymous?
If it is really Anonymous, can you explain in detail how the Anonymous stable coin DAI works?

I don't want to derail this topic too much, but DAI is not anonymous but pseudonymous. It's just "less worse" than USDT because it is differently backed and it is more decentralised. DAI's blockchain is public.
Tether can, for example, freeze your USDTs if they are flagged by a service or agency. We can discuss it in the altcoin section of the forum if you want!

Privacy Coins Forum / Re: Will privacy coins survive?
« on: January 09, 2024, 02:54:23 PM »
Of course the will survive, as long as they stay decentralized.

So the future of privacy coins is clear, but the big question is what will happen to methods of enhancing privacy for non-privacy coins , for example Bitcoin mixers or privacy upgrades such as MIMBLEWIMBLE[1], which were integrated with litecoin.

Will we see governments asking litecoin to remove MIMBLEWIMBLE?

Are you pessimist for the future of coinjoin if we talk about BTC? I am surprised of how much bitcoiners are not aware of its existence.
It's an interesting question, will governments go so far as to ask devs to roll back features that already exist? That wouldn't be surprising...

Mixers could (in theory) always survive on a .onion domain, no?

Binance / You should verify your communication with Binance
« on: January 09, 2024, 02:46:23 PM »
When you use a CEX, you should be very careful, a lot of people are trying to impersonate them to try to steal your logins or infos. If you trust Binance or any CEX with your private data, KYC, bank details, addresses, money etc..., you should always be sure to always avoid to be scammed via phishing.

You should use Binance Verify (official service from Binance).
https://www.binance.com/en/official-verification
It is useful to check the website link, email addresses, phone numbers, WeChat IDs, Twitter account or Telegram IDs. If you want to be sure that you are in communication with the real Binance team, this is the way to go.

Bitcoin’s network difficulty experienced its first increase of 2024 on Jan. 5, at block height 824,544, rising 1.65% to an unprecedented network peak of 73.2 trillion... See more for yourself here.

Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, as a miner I am pretty satisfied that (for now) the next difficulty is supposed to be around -10% for now. Of course it changes every day and means nothing until the last moment of the current epoch.

Latest Block:   825001  (7 minutes ago)
Current Pace:   89.8263%  (458 / 509.87 expected, 51.87 behind)
Previous Difficulty:   72006146478567.1
Current Difficulty:   73197634206448.34
Next Difficulty:   between 65818282821395 and 70035161762445
Next Difficulty Change:   between -10.0814% and -4.3205%
Previous Retarget:   last Saturday at 1:36 AM  (+1.6547%)
Next Retarget (earliest):   January 20, 2024 at 4:55 PM  (in 11d 2h 20m 52s)
Next Retarget (latest):   January 21, 2024 at 3:39 PM  (in 12d 1h 4m 35s)
Projected Epoch Length:   between 14d 15h 19m 36s and 15d 14h 3m 18s

Somes major pools are probably manipulating the hashrate in order to lower the difficulty, they probably take the bet of high fees thanks to a potential ETF approval.

USDT Forum / Re: Which wallet is the best wallet to hold USDT
« on: January 09, 2024, 02:33:56 PM »
It depends on the blockchain on which you want to hold your USDT.

If it's ETH ERC-20, Trezor is an excellent open source hardware wallet.

Ledger natively offers Polygon, Tron, BEP-20 Binance Chain, so is more polyvalent. However, Ledger is closed-source, and the company is accumulating the problems recently, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Otherwise, as a software wallet, why not Exodus on an airgapped device?

Marketplace & Bitcoin Services / Re: [SERVICE] Free Testnet Bitcoins

Would you agree to send me some dust please ? I would like to do some testing with multisig stuff.
I don't know how much I would need, not a lot, maybe 0,0001
Sure I can send you that much coins in next few days, if you dont need them urgently.
Service I am offering is like free faucet and I usually ask people to return coins when they finish testing, but you dont have to send back this time, since this is the first request I received from this forum.

Thank you! Already received 0,0001 tBTC :D

I will of course send them back to you anyway, once my tests done I won't need them anymore so it would be wasted to keep them. Thank you!

@icopress, are there any slots available here?

The campaign is actually [CFNP] which means "Closed for new participants" for now

Many bounty managers prefer to fire quality posters when it comes to signature campaigns.

I think you wanted to write "hire"  :)

Then, in my personal opinion, this stable coin does not need to be used privately because basically USDT is FIAT which is taken equally with US Dollars.

Absolutely, that's why DAI (on Polygon network if we want it to be cheap to use) is a best alternative for now
