Forum related / Re: AltcoinsTalks Top Karma Earners (Monthly Edition)
« on: April 02, 2024, 04:01:56 PM »
This way collection of Karma data on a specific board/sub-board would be possible - this way the admin and members can easily tell which board produces the highest + /- Karma. Also users can easily track where theirs posts are appreciated more and where they're are not needed.

If Karma buttons are not attached to posts, then the possibility is zero..
Actually, it works just like how merit is given in btt, its just the position of the button/link is different.

If you will check the url of the +- karma, you will see that there is topic_id, msg_id, and uid where the karma is given. That means karma is tracked on what topic it came from. What i'm not sure is if who is the sender of the karma since it cannot be seen on the karma url. I'm not sure the random characters means as well.

If I make 5 posts in one thread and receive +3 does it track the topic alone or my individual posts? I want to believe it tracks only the topic url and not individual post url.

The merit system tracks each post url cause of how the buttons are placed (on every post). Similar to the Karma system but not the same.

If it's tracked on topics then tracking karma to which board it came from is possible isn't it?

So logically you think most members aren't interested in giving out Karma or not interested in the entire system at all?
Just like you take your time to read individual posts one after the other, I mean some people are just not like that than to come to the forum and just post and leave. If they are not reading each posts, they will not also send Karma to the posts. I will not say they do not have interest in the system nor having no interest in giving karma but reading people's posts will help which I think is one of the reasons that caused it.

That's a major issue here on the forum not only our local board - most members only read OP and sometimes the last poster and make a reply. They don't read the entire thread or care about others opinions before theirs.

As long as you are sending it to quality posts, you are not abusing it.

Agreed. We have too much enough quality posts on this board but yet the karma rate is low.  We have to do better.

True - just realized the Karma button is placed on our profile and not our posts/topics. Would have been really cool to have the Karma buttons next to our posts/topics just like the merit system

I'm not sure I understood what kind of improvement the change would bring if the karma button were on the right instead of the left.

@Igebotz, Now I noticed that you are still using the old, small avatar. You can change it to a bigger one, it was probably added to the campaign thread.  ;)

Noticed it a long time ago - just want to be the last man standing wearing that, it fits me so well.  ;D

I am surprised how Karma is. Even merit on Bitcointalk is kind of easier to get than the Karma of Altcoinstalks, despite that you can send many Karma to people without no effect.

I think people know how to send Karma except people of lower rank that do not even see the Karma at all. But once they rank up and their account have that feature, it is not hard to become noticable. What I think more about is that some people may just prefer to come and post and leave for that day until tomorrow to repeat the same.

So logically you think most members aren't interested in giving out Karma or not interested in the entire system at all?

Any member who's only receiving and not giving out Karma is not helping the system grow and not also helping the lower rank members too. Make we dey try dey give Karma to quality posts when we see them, even the OP self nobody drop anything just like every other days.

I would like to see "csv" files added for download and board/sub-board sort buttons if possible.
I can do the exporting feature but the board/sub-board sort is not possible as there's no available data if where the karma came from.

Admin I want this piagarist posts placed under my moderation if possible - he's polluting my board and if not taken care of, the epidemic will spread widely.

If you can develop something like that and if we can check how many karma a specific user earned in a month, or a week or 120 days period, that will be something good for the campaign managers as well and for us as well. I am not sure if anyone has already developed one or not. But I am unaware of any.

You can sort that on the website it's already available. We're still in early stage to use Karma as the main requirement through.

« on: April 02, 2024, 10:28:02 AM »
I posted something I shouldn't have posted, and my account has been tagged. Please how can I rectify these issue?

Your chances of getting any tagged removed is zero because you keep pulluting the board with the said piagarism Posts, low value posts and it never stops. I've forced to delete tons of your shit posts everyday and I've just asked the admin to place you under my moderation ( meaning all your posts goes through me before it gets to the forum and I have right to approve or disprove it)

Gambling discussion / Re: Keep trying you will win
« on: March 30, 2024, 03:08:49 PM »
To succeed in gambling, a gambler must learn how to be very strategic with his gambling engagements or continue to suffer losses no matter how hard he tries to win. Some gamblers fail to learn from their losses by examining the things they did that resulted to their losses and others also fail to examine the things they did that helped them win which I don't think is good for their development. Studying the game of gambling is very good because it helps gamblers to make good decisions that'll help them win big so if you're a gambler that's always losing your money, the best thing to do is to carefully study the decisions you make results to your losses while trying continually

Gambling is such that no strategy can make you win. Strategy can help you mitigate your loss by ensuring that you gamble with discipline and self-control. By discipline, I mean gambling with an amount you are prepared to lose that is, setting limits and sticking to it. Whereas, with self-control, a gambler will not chase his losses. I don't align with your opinion that gamblers don't learn from their loss or win.

My reason is simple. No gambler knows when he will win so even if you try to stick to what made you win, you might not win again because you might not be lucky the second time. In my thinking, 90% of the outcome of gambling is beyond the control of the gambler and that is why even with skills and research a gambler still doesn't win.

Gambling discussion / Re: what is the impact of gambling on students?
« on: March 30, 2024, 02:51:37 PM »
The impact of gambling on student is seriously bad, and it has impacted the student negatively in a way that it has affected the academics; poses failures in academic performance, mental health issue, risk of suicide, physical health issue and lost of family togetherness.
So problem gambling can be detrimental to student and it is dangerous for Ernest student because of the negative impact it poses on the students. What is your own opinion on this.
Gambling must be banned for students as student life is career building time.  If the students participate in gambling instead of studying during this career formation, then their life will be difficult instead of career formation and later these students will face difficult situation.  Therefore, students should spend all their time on education instead of spending it in other areas.  Moreover, gambling can put students in financial crisis as well as emotional crisis, which will have a significant impact on the formation of their academic career.  That is why a student should never participate in gambling instead of studying.

Banning gambling for all students will be an injustice to other students who are responsible for their gambling. Gambling as we know has both positive and negative connotations and as a gambler, it's either gambling is helping you or destroying you. This is not only peculiar to students. But then, even if such laws are made prohibiting students from gambling, the challenge now will be, how do you identify a student? And what classes of students will be prohibited considering that studentship is of different levels? How would you compel a postgraduate student not to gamble?

In my thinking, there should be a widespread crusade calling on students to prioritize their studies and the government must make sure that students are paid stipends monthly because some of these students gamble to make money to fund their academics.

Yes, an addicted gambler can help himself. It's often said that the advice given to oneself is the most effective. Without going too far, I used to be an addicted gambler until the day I made a decision never to engage in problem gambling. Though, initially it wasn't easy because sometimes I still go back to gambling against my desire but gradually I stopped. I believe other similar stories like mine circulating online lend credence to the fact that a gambler can help himself overcome addiction.

Well, I always advise that gamblers should be responsible in their gambling because escaping addiction is not easy. It is easier to prevent addiction than to try to overcome it.

419
No day is set out for a particular betting outcome. Any gambling session can produce any outcome at any time and any day. Gambling is unpredictable which indicates that a gambler should expect any outcome. Incidentally, your selections always produce a "draw" on Saturdays but if you take a close look at the overall game performance on Saturday, it will surprise you to see that the majority of the games didn't play a draw. Secondly, Whether Monday through Sunday, a game can still produce a "draw". A draw is not peculiar to Saturday alone.

In my case, I don't predict "draw" since I believe that the draw outcome is very difficult to predict and so my favorite options are win or over goals. Just as it is common with gambling, sometimes I win and most times I lose but I don't try to hold on to any philosophy because I know that whatever plays out is what gambling stands for.

Gambling discussion / Re: What inspired you to gamble?
« on: March 30, 2024, 01:54:30 PM »
I am a sports-loving person and so I grew up watching sports like football, wrestling, basketball, and car racing. When I came to know about sports betting, I was inspired to give it a try since naturally, I enjoy watching sports games. The main aim was to have fun by trying to beat the bookies. Not to win and make money but rather to show how good I am with predictions in football and basketball.

So far so good I am still enjoying gambling. It is a pastime activity for me during weekends. I love it when I bet on a team and watch the team play. It gives a different vibe to the game and makes it even more interesting regardless of the outcome of the game.
