Gambling discussion / Do online casinos ever refuse to pay winnings?
« on: April 15, 2024, 11:24:39 PM »
Hi everyone,

Have you ever faced a situation where your winnings were withheld? Share your experiences and any insights on why this might happen, such as issues with wagering requirements, account verification, or possible terms of service violations.

This thread is for sharing personal stories and advice on how to navigate such situations, ensuring fair play and understanding your rights as a gambler.

While I was playing the Demo Blackjack game in my phone with some demo funds funded in my wallet, it was some kind of funs but I observed some illicitment that  may earns me bad of I should bring it into my reality gambling with real funds.

While playing the game, I observed that of I stake with little amounts, I looses to the computer but if I stakes with a huge amount I usually wins and I could visually see how much huge amount I have accumulated from my winnings.
Therein, I had to have that thought that I wish I could win this much in a real life gambling.

I actually brought this up here because of I have not been myself, I would had taken that inspirations to go gambling with amounts of money which I may not be affordable to loose because I am sure that I would not win that much easier as it was in the Demo.
So far so bad I think this is also how some gamblers are inspired to irresponsible gambling of what is not affordable to loose all because of chasing huger profits.

It’s really insightful how you’ve used your experience with the demo Blackjack game to reflect on the bigger picture of gambling responsibly. I personally find that demo games, while enjoyable and risk-free, can sometimes give a skewed perception of success that doesn’t always align with real life gambling scenarios. Your ability to recognize this disconnect is a strong testament to your understanding and cautious approach towards gambling.

From my perspective, playing demos can be a fantastic way to learn the ropes without any financial risk, and they certainly have their place as educational and entertainment tools. However, the way you’ve thought about the transition from demo play to real gambling resonates with me because it emphasizes the importance of responsible gaming habits. It’s essential to remember that real gambling carries real risks, and the outcomes can be quite different from what we experience in a demo setting.

The crypto market is warming up after the recovery of BTC and many Altcoins, the community is talking about expectations, about new ATHs in 2024 and 2025. It seems like everyone is very optimistic, very excited to think about a good future in this crypto market. Everyone is thinking about the profits they will have after this cycle, and I'm sure everyone has a plan to use those profits most effectively.

I also have a lot of plans, but other than reinvesting in the market during the crypto winter to buy more tokens and get more profits in the next cycle, I think profits from the crypto market should bring positive values to my real life.

I know that this crypto market is really potential and creates extremely large profits in the uptrend. A token's price increase of 1000% in an uptrend year is considered a weak increase and not an effective investment in the crypto market, stock investors are always surprised about this. But the market also contains many risks and creates pressure when investing, holding and trading. Many investors I know have looked much older after just 1 cycle in this market. It would be bad if profits continued to put more pressure on their lives, we only have 1 life to live   ::)

I am not a professional investor, I DCA so there is less pressure. But to be honest, I still cannot escape all the negative impacts of the market. I hold BTC and I'm happy when the BTC price increases, I'm sad when the BTC price drops, even though I have determined to hold BTC for 1-2 years and will not sell regardless of any fluctuations during that time. I think many other investors also have similar feelings, things will be worse for traders participating in Margin and Future!

To balance those negative emotions, I always spend 50% of my profits from the crypto market to spend on family needs, usually buying gifts for members. The biggest joy I can mention is that in the previous cycle, I took profits in BTC and used the profits to buy a new iPad for my daughter to use. She loves it and even named the Ipad as "iBit" because I told her: the Ipad is gift from Bitcoin (and not from BTC Spot ETF of BlackRock). Don't worry, I still don't want to teach her DCA BTC, her childhood needs to be protected  ;D

I know this joy is very small for many others, but it is big enough to give me more motivation to try harder in this market. There's nothing better than when profits from the crypto market become the joy of the person I love the most  :-*

I know many people who enter the market and are very successful, they have huge profits but all they do is invest. They almost forget that they also need to spend and use the profits from the crypto market to make their lives better.

I want to hear from you:
  • Have you ever been profitable and taken profits in the crypto market?
  • How did you use that profit? Do you use that profit or reinvest it?
  • Do you think using profits is also important for your investment journey?

Yes, I’ve had my share of profitable moments in the crypto market! Taking profits at the right time can really give you a sense of accomplishment and validation of your investment strategies. When I’ve managed to secure profits, I usually take a balanced approach with them—I set aside a portion to reinvest, aiming to capitalize on any future opportunities, and I use another portion for personal financial goals or to treat myself and my loved ones.

I definitely think using some of your profits is important in the investment journey. It not only helps in realizing the tangible benefits of your investments, making the effort feel more worthwhile, but it also can provide necessary funds for unexpected expenses or for achieving personal milestones. Reinvesting some of your profits is equally crucial, as it helps in compounding your gains and building your investment portfolio over time. This balance between enjoying your successes and fueling future growth is key in sustaining a healthy and rewarding investment journey.

I have been around the crypto-space for not less than 3 years plus now and although most post I red over here and the other forum shows that most project or nearly new birth project list close to halving, and this year I have come to confirm it myself because the rate at which project are launched is too alarming.

I just have this feelings that either since bull is around the corner they wanna utilized the opportunity for their project to soar or they launched for the purpose of scamming people around since most people don't know the real project to invest during halving.

I could be wrong in my perspective..

Please I would love to know your own experience and why projects launched within the halving period if I am not mistakenly.

It sounds like you’ve really immersed yourself in the crypto world, and your observations about the timing of new project launches around halving events are quite interesting. It’s true that halving events, which reduce the rate at which new coins are generated, can create a lot of buzz and speculation in the market. This often leads to increased attention on cryptocurrencies in general.

From what I’ve seen, some projects may indeed time their launches to coincide with these periods of heightened interest to capitalize on the increased visibility. The optimism and speculation can drive initial investment, providing these projects with a potentially higher launch trajectory.

However, as you noted, there is a downside. The hype can also attract less scrupulous initiatives, which might aim to take advantage of less informed investors.

My personal take is always to approach new projects with a healthy dose of skepticism, especially those timed around significant events like halvings. Researching thoroughly, understanding the project’s fundamentals, and not getting carried away by the hype are crucial steps.

Gambling discussion / Re: The role of Luck vs. Skill in casino games
« on: April 12, 2024, 10:23:13 PM »
How does one’s skill level alter the odds in games traditionally seen as purely chance-based?
Skills are unnecessary and will have no effect when used in games that are purely dependent on luck, but luck can have a great influence in games that involve skills.

Can a well thought out strategy truly make a difference, or are we all at the mercy of the gambling gods?
A well planned strategy will make a difference when it is a game based on skills, but still no effect on chance or luck based games, you remain at the mercy of the gambling gods.

I already wrote before, what if we view traits like patience, self-control, financial acumen, and caution as crucial skills?
I believe that gamblers who possess these skills often seem to encounter "luck" more often than those who depend solely on chance. This suggests a complex relationship between skill and luck, where being informed, patient, and disciplined may indirectly boost one’s odds of success, even in games typically dominated by chance.

In fact gambling addiction is hard to quit and i have seen him continue to gamble even after winning big money. How do you see it reflected? I think that when i suddenly make big money from gambling, i will stop gambling and start a unique business with that money. Because then i don't want to lose money so i want to keep the money strong and that's why i stop gambling.
people who gamble for fun or entertainment, if they get rich suddenly they won't stop gambling because why they are gambling is for the entertainment and fun.
But people who can go for money if they get resuddenly they will stop gambling because they know, that they can lost their money in gambling.

you've made a great point! People who gamble primarily for the thrill and enjoyment of the game often continue to gamble even after a big win because their main goal is the fun and excitement, not necessarily the monetary gain. On the other hand, those who gamble with the primary goal of earning money might indeed stop if they win big, as they've achieved their objective and recognize the risks of potential losses in the future.

It's a fascinating insight into how different motivations in gambling affect behavior.

Gambling discussion / Re: No risk no gain
« on: April 10, 2024, 11:20:08 PM »
This saying is actually true that there is no risk there will be no gain. But I want to say that this should not be accepted in the case of gambling. Because most of the time this word is used in business purpose like if you don't take risk in business you can never achieve anything good. It is one of the qualities of a good businessman to have a risk-taking mindset. Moreover, taking risks in gambling is only as good as a person can afford to lose. If I say better about this, I will say that if he gambles, he should take the risk of that amount, which will not have any effect on his real life leading.
A good proverb will be good if it is applied to the right thing, but if it is misused it is still something wrong, so I agree with you on this.

But this will come back to what our goal is in gambling, are we just looking for fun? or hoping for a big win? If we hope to always win, then the saying seems true, but in the case of gambling it might have bad consequences for us. So we also have to be clever at distinguishing between what is good for us.

Nothing can be achieved without taking risks in life, so taking risks can certainly lead to victory anywhere.  Risk taking is definitely the most important factor behind progress and success, a person who does not take risks in life will never reach the happiness of others.
you are right, but due to this mindset alot of individuals have . They normally takes risky recklessly hoping that one day they would surely hit it big (which is true ), but to the reckless way of taking risk they may endup getting themselves reckt before that time ( hitting a big life changing jackpot). Just imagine someone going all in with his hard earn funds without thinking twice , that he or she can either gain or loss . Just imagine such individual endup losing he or she may endup doing something crazy . And the funny thing is that even by any chances such users endup winning , he or she would be encouraged more to continue taken such kind of reckless risk on a stead and he or she may endup losing everything either way , so we should mind the type of risk we taken we should always to emphasize in risk management.

It’s true, big achievements often require taking risks, but there’s a fine line between being bold and being reckless. Your cautionary words about the potential downsides of not practicing risk management, from the possibility of significant losses to the dangerous cycle of chasing losses with more risks, resonate deeply.

It’s crucial to remember that smart risk-taking involves calculated decisions, not just leaps of faith. Knowing when to take a step back, assess the situation, and perhaps most importantly, when to say no, can save us from significant distress. It’s all about walking that tightrope with eyes wide open, recognizing that while risks can lead to great rewards, they should be approached with wisdom and restraint.

Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling In Crypto
« on: April 10, 2024, 10:41:10 PM »
Recently I have started to gamble with crypto, and other coins. Looking to speak with anyone who has had similar experiences. I find it much more effective than gambling with fiat. Let’s use this thread to discuss pros/cons and how us users can improve it!

Thanks!

I've learned quite a bit from friends and online communities. Stories of platforms disappearing overnight or failing to pay out winnings underscored the need for caution and due diligence.Through these conversations, I've seen the importance of a balanced approach to crypto gambling, recognizing it as part of a broader financial strategy rather than a quick fix. It's about understanding the risks, setting clear boundaries, and continuously learning and adapting as the crypto world evolves.

One of the pros is the anonymity and speed of transactions that cryptocurrencies offer. It’s quite liberating to move funds without the usual banking hassles. However, the lack of regulation and the permanence of transactions can be daunting. There’s no “bank” to call if something goes wrong, which means security of your digital wallet becomes paramount.

Another aspect to consider is the tax implications and legal status in your country. The regulatory environment for crypto is still evolving, and it can have significant implications for your winnings or losses.

Gambling discussion / Re: can gambling be a career?
« on: April 10, 2024, 05:50:09 PM »
The allure of gambling as a career path is undeniable, especially when considering high-profile cases like Dan Bilzerian and ...

Dan Bilzerian? LMAO. What that guy has got is a lot of marketing. I doubt very much that the money he has came from poker as he wants to make it look. I've heard all kinds of theories about where his net worth comes from but the least likely is that it's from poker. For example:

https://www.reddit.com/r/poker/comments/jbsra5/fraud_the_untold_truth_of_dan_bilzerian_and_ignite/?rdt=41986

Maybe, you are right. I find myself aligning with the skepticism regarding the narrative that surrounds figures like Dan Bilzerian. The image portrayed, often filled with glamour and seemingly effortless success in gambling, doesn’t fully capture the complexities and uncertainties of making a living through poker or any form of gambling.

Success in gambling, particularly at the level depicted by high-profile figures, involves a combination of skill, discipline, risk management, and a significant amount of luck. The narrative doesn’t always disclose the many instances of failure or the long periods of learning and skill acquisition.

So, in this conversation, I lean towards agreeing with Don Pedro Dinero. It’s essential to critically evaluate the stories of success in gambling and recognize the role of marketing and self-promotion in shaping these narratives. For anyone considering gambling as more than a recreational activity, it’s vital to look beyond the allure and understand the dedication and risks involved.

Gambling has been a lucrative business for the betting companies, and most gamblers think that gambling is an easy way for them to make money .
The questions is:can gambling be a career? Gambling can be a career, base on experience and luck for most gamblers, the likes of Dan Bilzerian, and Matthew Benham, they have several ventures going on, but they are predominantly known as career gamblers.
So for me gambling can be a career for few gamblers. That's my opinion, let's get your opinion on this matter.

The allure of gambling as a career path is undeniable, especially when considering high-profile cases like Dan Bilzerian and Matthew Benham.

but for every success story, there are countless others who have faced significant losses. Gambling, by its very nature, involves a high level of risk and uncertainty. The element of luck cannot be understated, and while experience and skill can tilt the odds in one’s favor, they can never eliminate the inherent unpredictability of gambling.

Moreover, the sustainability of a gambling career is another point of consideration. The financial and emotional rollercoaster can take a heavy toll, not just on the individual but also on their families and close relationships.

It’s also worth noting that those who are often cited as successful professional gamblers usually have diverse income streams, which mitigate the risks associated with gambling. This diversification is a crucial strategy for anyone considering gambling as a serious profession.

In conclusion, while it’s possible for a select few to carve out a career in gambling, it’s not without its significant challenges and risks. It requires a combination of skill, discipline, risk management, and an acceptance of the volatility that comes with it. For most, it’s perhaps safer and more sustainable to view gambling as a form of entertainment rather than a career path.

A Shanghai man was sentenced to prison for kidnapping his own granddaughter so he could maintain his gambling addiction with the ransom money.

The kidnapping — orchestrated by a 65-year-old man identified only by his surname, Yuan — was first reported by the Shanghai Law and Rule Journal. The legal news outlet didn't specify when the incident occurred but wrote on April 18 that Yuan had just started serving his prison sentence.

Yuan kicked off his plan by picking up his four-year-old granddaughter from her kindergarten and taking her out to eat and shop without her mother's knowledge, the Journal reported.

many gambling addicts have lost their minds because their desire to continue gambling overpowers their common sense, hence the importance of "gambling responsibly"

There are three licensing objectives which support the whole basis of gambling regulation:

- that crime should be kept out of gambling
- it should be conducted in a fair and open way
- children and other vulnerable persons should be protected from harm or exploitation from gambling.

#this is my topic which i copied from the BTT forum

Whoa, a reminder of how gambling can spiral out of control, affecting not just the gambler but their family too. Honestly, it’s heartbreaking. But, it also strengthened my commitment to gamble responsibly.
It's a vivid reminder to enjoy gambling as entertainment, keeping it fun and safe.
There's a balance to be found, and I'm positive that with awareness and moderation, we can all enjoy gambling without negative consequences.

Note: I have created a similar topic on Bitcointalk, I just rephrased it

Do you think that religion has the power to influence one who is addicted to gambling to stop gambling, if you have a friend who is addicted to gambling do you believe that by leading him to your religion or church he will be a changed man and stop gambling or he will moderate his addiction.

Lets's disscuss what do you think of this topic...

I will post my opinion after sharing your opinions.

Sorry if this offends anyone, but I feel that swapping a gaming addiction for an intense focus on religion doesn't truly fix the issue. It's okay to have faith, but using religion as a cure for gambling addiction by pushing someone towards the church might not be the best approach. Going to extremes in anything, including religion, often isn't healthy. Becouse in real its like switching from one addiction to another, like going from gaming too much to getting overly involved in something else, isn't really solving the problem.
To support someone with a gaming addiction, it's crucial they recognize the issue and take steps towards engaging in social activities again. Often, addictions mask deeper problems. Understanding and addressing these underlying issues is essential, typically with professional guidance. Alternatively, reducing gaming time gradually, much like weaning off smoking, could be a self-managed approach to easing out of the addiction.

Gambling discussion / Re: The role of Luck vs. Skill in casino games
« on: April 08, 2024, 12:54:21 PM »
Its seems that another similar topic about luck vs skill. This type of topic has been discussed a lot before in this forum and Bitcoin Talk forum. My opinion on this matter is still the same as before my opinion has not changed that gambling is entirely based on luck and skill here means does not make much of a difference to the outcome of gambling. And since it depends on luck, it cannot be taken as a job or as a source of income. If gambling with skill could win all the time then most people would probably take it up as their profession. By gambling skill I mean knowing a game well and knowing how to play it.  And on the other hand skill means sports prediction which sometimes works but ultimately result depends on luck because many times it has been seen that many weak teams beat a good team.

What if we look at patience, self-control, financial literacy, and prudence as essential skills. These qualities do not just mitigate risks in games of chance like slots or roulette but also enhance the gaming experience, making it more disciplined and mindful. Acknowledging the role of luck, these skills empower players to navigate the unpredictable nature of casino games with informed decisions and a balanced approach, distinguishing between entertainment and financial investment.

To gain from casino gambling luck and skill both are needed. But main mainly need luck for casino gambling. Skill did not work here properly. Skill need for choosing game, maintain rules etc. But mainly need luck for casino gambling. Who are lucky person he will win within short time if luck don’t support then he will never win all day long. So i think to win from casino gambling mainly need luck there has no doubt.
The two aspects you mentioned must be inherent in us. But for online gambling sites, I think you are still lacking one thing that is very important for me and it is very difficult to control it. Patience is a complement to the aspects you mentioned above. Without the patience to control ourselves so as not to spend too much money in gambling places at one time, we will lose everything quickly. As long as you have these three aspects to master in a gambling place, I'm sure you will be calmer when placing a bet.

I concur, and I think that players endowed with the aforementioned skills tend to encounter 'luck' more frequently than those who merely rely on chance. This could suggests a nuanced interplay between skill and luck, where being informed, patient, and disciplined indirectly increases one's chances of success, even in purely luck based games.

I am wondering if you would have the same attitude towards gambling if you suddenly made a big win. I encountered many people who have won large sums of money, enough to start a business or invest in other things, but they continue to gamble in the hopes of winning even more. This is because winning a lot of money has an emotional effect that can make you want to keep playing, knowing that you have the means to do so.
For some gamblers, making a significant win means an opportunity to suddenly quit gambling, these are gamblers that actually gamble for the money they stand to gain, and this isn't supposed to be the reason why people should gamble. Whether I make a significant win or just a small win or I don't win at all, whenever I feel like enjoying the thrill that comes with gambling, I'd always go on to gamble because I'm not gambling to win big. If the winning comes, it's a bonus for me, but if it doesn't, I won't feel bad or devastated at all. What's more important is maintaining a healthy gambling lifestyle and to always be in control of your emotions during gambling. That way, there'll ne no room for addiction at all.

I also think that if a person wins a significant amount of money, he will quit. It is not always that he will spent those money wisely. Many spend them on stupid things. But the chance that a person will return to gambling imo is little. First he will be busy spending his fortune. Second, when or if he is broke later, he wont have spare money to gamble to win large amount once again. Only chronicle gamblers will return, but in their case, there is never a chance of becoming rich, because they will bet again and again, as they just cant stop or resist betting.

Absolutely, landing a big win does change the game. It seems like that thrill of the chase, that initial spark that draws us to gamble, shifts a bit once we've tasted victory. And you're right about the different reasons people return to gambling. For some, it's not about the money anymore; it's more about the love of the game.
This highlights the diverse nature of gambling, it's not just about the wins or losses but also the experience and the joy it brings.

Gambling discussion / Re: Positive gambling experience
« on: April 06, 2024, 09:19:38 PM »
I also found positives in gambling, I gambled profitably as long as I kept myself in check. I actually used to bet on cricket and having good ideas about cricket I was very profitable at one time and won matches regularly. But my downfall started when I got too greedy and started giving importance to the prediction of others. So gambling has seen many positives, bad times, funny times that still remind me of my mistakes.

That's a really valuable insight. It sounds like when you leaned into your own knowledge and passion for cricket, gambling was not only enjoyable but profitable for you. It highlights an important aspect of gambling, the balance between skill, knowledge, and the unpredictable nature of betting. The journey through the ups and downs, the wins and the lessons learned, is what makes the gambling experience rich and multifaceted. Your story underlines the importance of self awareness and sticking to what you know best. And that mix of positives, challenges, and those unforgettable moments that gambling has brought into your life.
Everything I learned while gambling has given me the ability to control myself even in the worst situations. I can still do well in cricket betting but now my experience now helps me a lot to control myself. Cricket betting is always a skill and depends on analyzing the team properly to win the bet. Yes, this experience of mine will surely remind others of how many ups and downs they have seen in their lives.

Thats what I mean. These aren’t just gambling skills, they’re life skills that serve us well beyond the betting table.
Its great to see how apply gambling experiences positively, turning potential pitfalls into opportunities for personal growth.
