Re: What is your biggest loss in gambling?
I can't give an exact amount since I've stopped gambling for quite some time already, but I think I can give a rough estimate of my total losses.

I think my rough estimate is around $400-$500 already, but it takes me years to get that amount of losses. I don't gamble much, and if I do, I only use a small amount of my money. I know the risks of gambling that's why I don't want to spend too much on it, and the good thing for me is that whenever I lose all of my money, I know when to stop immediately instead of getting that losses thru using money again.

Gambling is all about luck, and self-control. That's how I see gambling. If you're lucky and you know when to stop if needed, you will be going out with a huge amount of money, and vice-versa.

400 to 500 in losses lifetime and you quit. You are 200x smarter than me.

I ESTIMATE 100k from the age of 4 to 33 which is when I quit.

ALSO that was July of 1990 when I quit so 100k was solid money in 1990

Doge is a very solid mining coin it has turned mining profits year after year.
I have seen a good profit mining it the last 5 years.
I make more profits with L7 units per watts than I do with s19 mining btc.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Buy on dip

I think we will fall back under 38k this weekend. Maybe even 37k.

I would never hodl ETH
Are you serious about this?  :-\
Most people prefer to choose ETH for their investment. They even assume ETH is one of the most safe coins to hold for a long time. ETH is proven as established coin for many years. Why it is not worth to hold?

I hodl

LTC
Doge
Grin
Xec
These coins are not very popular to hold for a long time. Specifically for Doge, it is meme coin that has no fundamental for the future. Some people even state that the hype of Doge is over. So, it is too risky to hold Doge for our investment. Why do you choose it for the next altcoins season?

Anyway, I'm happy to see you in this forum @philipma1957  :)

Doge is the most likely long term mining coin on the market the ever decreasing yearly inflation rate is really good. I continue to mine and enjoy doge profits Year after year.

SO I Watched this. I would tell people do not use market price buys and sells. You run the risk of a spike in the wrong direction and selling way too cheap or buying way too high.

Learn to correctly set limits.

Maybe learn to do 3 step ladders up and down via limit orders.

Marketplace orders can move crazy on smaller coins Costing quite a bit of value on your buys and sells.

We often compare crypto to Internet, and believe that with growing acceptance, crypto is the inevitable future. However, I remember that in the past people also said that "Internet is the future", meaning that in the future, using internet is inevitable. I think Internet became really popular in 2000s[1], and services on the internet started to become popular like texting or searching for news. At that time, we knew that "Internet is the present"!

A few years ago, especially since 2017, we were saying that “Crypto is the future”. Now, dozens of companies accept BTC payments[2], large companies store BTC, investment funds have BTC Spot ETF products, governments store BTC[3], BTC is accepted officially received in El Salvador[4]… All this is even bigger than what happened with Internet in 2000s.

So I think, we should ignore the concept of "Crypto is the future", we should say that "Crypto is the present".

And you, what do you think, please share your views:
  • Do you think we have reached the crypto era?
  • You think crypto is the future, or crypto is the present?
  • If crypto is the future, when will that future come?

Crypto is the present and the future. It is even the past.  In my case 2012 to now 2024 and hopefully for the rest of my life plus 100 more year after that.

Many people have been in crypto for more than 10 years a lot of us. In the thousands.

They had to remove gift as you simply may not know you got the gift.

They have a huge mess coming up with the 10000 value rule  they are required to enforce.

They realize the gift issue is not enforceable.

Basic questions about this forum / Re: How to win the never sleep badge.
« on: January 26, 2024, 06:36:08 PM »
I think it is difficult to get that badge, but not impossible, I think you wrote 25 by mistake because we have 24 hours a day and how and in what logic do 25 hours make sense? I am not well aware of this forum's badges but this badge does not matter that much even in my view not every badge is of great importance only the ranks and other good badges that show under your rank matter most.

It is great that the admin has made a list for all badges like who has them or not although the list is not very easily understandable still it is a good thing for analysis purposes. I think we should focus on getting more better ranks, but this one looks rare so I will also look into it. Thanks for bringing it in front of my eyes.

yeah I want it cause n one else has it. ;D

So I found the voting section and may have misread it. It appeared like I should do polls in it.

You are not the only one, someone should clean that section not to mislead users, but no one has gotten around to do this yet.

So how do I move them to correct sections.

I moved your topics to more appropriate sections. 👌

One of the issues of the internet is interpretation of written instructions does vary even if you are reading in your native language. Also I speak North east USA English I was taught in New York City. Even with in New York City itself they are variations in the English language. Also many things written in English can have two or their meanings. Thanks for moving the polls I did.

Basic questions about this forum / Re: My question about Karma?
« on: January 26, 2024, 06:29:04 PM »
Well the + karma idea seems okay >

The - karma could be less okay. After using this thread to give karma's out to better understand the giving of good karma there is a time limit you need to wait to give the same person good karma.

I did not try to figure out bad karma time limits. One this thread does not have a bad post.

If I stumble on a bad post on the forum I will test out the limits of giving that post bad karma.

I think the time limit on bad karma should be 2x longer than on good karma.  But If it is equal it would not be a big issue.

So I found an obvious Ponzi scheme .
below is the Ponzi scheme

https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=315813.msg1475356#msg1475356

I gave a negative karma and tried to do it again right away it clearly says you need to wait a period of time to

repeat a negative.

So when something is obviously 'bad' a delay in negative karma may not be too good to do.

I do realize being able to give lots of negative karma for poor reasons is not good. So the delay to repeat does have some value.

Basic questions about this forum / Re: Is there a teleported list?
« on: January 26, 2024, 06:19:08 PM »
Easy question if there are 50 or 100 from bitcointalk .I likely have done business made trades bought gear sold gear helped or been helped with mining issues with a few of them. So I would be able to easily see the people I know that I can trust.

If I understood correctly, you are still mining? Bitcoin or Altcoin?
Has anything been profitable in these days, especially in the US, as far as I know, you are from there.

I mine:
1) btc hodl as much as possible
2) ltc/doge hodl as much as possible
3) grin hodl all so far
4) kawpow on nicehash and I auto vert that to btc
5) KDA which I auto vert to btc
6) and 1 little hotspot for shits and giggles it has earned HNT and IOT which I hodl

all of the above is soon subject to change. As I may retire due to age  (67) and health (diabetes).

Dogecoin Forum / Re: Doge as an good investment
« on: January 26, 2024, 04:12:23 PM »
Doge is the best 20 year and out coin there is.

It is far better to do small value moves than btc.

It has solved the vanishing reward issue by endless decreases in inflation.

year 1 x
year 2. 2x 100% inflation
year 3. 3x  50% inflation
year 4. 4x. 33% inflation
year 5. 5x. 25% inflation
year 6. 6x. 20% inflation

bla
bla
bla
year 10 10x
year 11 11x 10% inflation
bla
bla
bla
year 20 20x
year 21 21 x 5% inflation
bla
bla
bla
year 25 25x
year 26 26x 4% inflation
bla
bla
bla
year 50 50x
year 51 51x 2% inflation
bla
bla
bla
year 100 100x
year 101 101x 1% inflation

those numbers destroy btc from the miners viewpoint.

if you believe in POW you need to believe in doge.

Now if you are a POS guy you can stick with eth or some other POS coin

I am lost the ETF was approved people rushed in hoping for a moon shot to a new ATH.

It did not happen and we had a sell off.

So what is the big deal.

The fun will all begin when the ½ ing comes.

My thoughts are we drift down to 33333

555
This applies to stocks bonds gold silver and all crypto.

Dca is the best way to not panic.

Set a dca you can afford x a week for 200 weeks never sell any of it.

better yet do it for 300 weeks

At this point hodl or maybe you sell maybe you don’t.

Most people do not do a long term 6 year dca plan.

most people like to think buy the dip and hodl. So if we are at 49 and it drops to 43 k they buy a lot.

then it drops to 39k. they panic and sell.
