Forum related / Re: AltcoinsTalks forum simple monthly report: Jan 2024
« on: February 02, 2024, 10:41:36 PM »
Thanks for creating this summary of the forum it gives us motivation and confidence that we can say to someone we are on this forum and we have a reputation there, I remember one of my local community members went to a tech fest in our country (as he shared his story) and when he shared there that he has a community of locals in crypto on Bitcointalk, he got gifted with t-shirts, etc. In the same way, this forum will get rank and get more attraction even.

The monthly visitor numbers are just shocking because, in my opinion, this forum was not getting this much traffic before, If I am not wrong. I hope this number will reach 1 million per month very soon, but for that, I hope the admin is preparing the servers for optimization, etc. I hope one thing that, like BTT the admin will not go away from this forum like admins of BTT not give much time to it. (just a thought, not targeting anyone).

Forum related / Re: Do we really need the chatbox?
« on: February 02, 2024, 10:13:53 PM »
The chat is not really for making long discussions
It creates lag when there are a lot of chat.
You can see the chat in my opinion, as a form of community bonding and light form of support.
Not a way to get a specific opinion about something.

If there is no chat, lazy people would create a post, those less lazy would actually look for the answer
Opps I just asked a question and I am lazy enough that I did not even search for that topic and asked for it on chat, hehe. Well, I found this method better, because that way my chat is exposed to almost every reader and the chances of getting good answers increases. Plus in this chat, we get the exact answer to our short questions even of long questions. I have asked many questions in the chat and almost you or other members replied to me in one or 2 lines.

I like this chatbox very much I even wish there was one on BTT also. I like how it is not very messy with long conversations, as it shows the most recent messages and if you are looking for the answer to your question you have to check again to see if you got any replies. This feature is awesome and it should stay forever.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: could adoption make BTC price less volatile?
« on: February 02, 2024, 09:56:41 PM »
Yes, the increase in cryptocurrency prices, including Bitcoin, will continue from year to year because the supply of Bitcoin is very limited, while the human journey in the world is still very far away, so when digital currency continues to develop, Bitcoin will still have a good future because of blockchain technology. Bitcoin's possessions will be very useful for the development of digital finance in the future.
Why do you think BTC will have a good future just because of blockchain technology, governments and authorities are liked blockchain technology for a long ago (not that ago but metaphorically speaking), while they don't like BTC at all, they think Blockchain technology is being used for bad purposes with BTC implementation. And neither of the BTC or Blockchain needs or directly depend on each other so that progress of one can impact other.

If you think the only way to access blockchain technology is via BTC and the high adoption of Blockchain usage will mean high usage of BTC and thus high volume then dear you are wrong here. Because people can use blockchain anyway without the usage of BTC.

You can not time the market correctly, I can't and many people can not.

By the way, read another topic that can be helpful for you.
Thanks for sharing this topic, it was deeply buried in the section that's why I did not come to read it, I suggest, this topic of yours (the one you mentioned above) will suit better in the trading section, or in the help section.

Talking about judging the market, I do know we can't judge the market 100% but we can make some plans or strategies to minimize the loss and increase the profit and that will do the work of timing the market. I read your mentioned topic and it was refreshing because the things were already in my mind but I was like not giving any importance to them. But now I realize the importance of a plan.

My recommendations

  • Don't try to find All time high, you can not predict it correctly and you will only know ATH of a cycle after you are already in a bear market.
  • Don't time the market. Let's the market runs and try to exit with market cycle length, that you can base on Bitcoin history.
  • Each cycle is unique and it can be longer or shorter than previous cycles but if you make your strategy on average cycle length, you will not take profit too far from the ATH & more important you will be able to avoid stuck too deep in a bear market.
  • If you don't want to exit the market by taking profit with all bitcoins you have, do DCA for profit taking, withdrawal like this strategy.
  • Biggest common mistake of newbies is trying to find absolute bottom or ATH. Just don't!

These are good recommendations, I never thought to make some plan for my portfolio as this is my first time seeing a bull run with some portfolio otherwise I did see the last bull run and learned from that. I will make some plans to book profit so that I can book more profit rather than booking less. I might do DCA. It looks good and I suppose its easier also.

To be honest, I thought to book the profit when the hype of BTC is high, which means, that the sentiments of the market will be telling that, now is the best time to book the profit and exit the market. But from my experience and from your words, I realized that that's not a good way. A plan is needed otherwise everything can be lost.

The requirement for rank increase varies, and can depend on these factors:
- Post count : how many topics and posts have you created ? OK, admin explained this expressed in numbers.
- Karma : are your topics and replies getting positive karma? How much positive karma is needed per rank, is there a number? how does negative karma affect this, in numbers?
- Online presence: are you present on the forum often, or just logging in posting the out. OK, I assume that the time spent on the forum counts. But how much time, does it have any relationship with the number of posts and how is it calculated?
- Registration date: when you signed-up, to prevent cheating with ranking. I'm not sure I understand this. But it doesn't seem like a crucial factor to me, if you look at the time spent on the forum as well as the deserved karma

Based on everything, it seems to me that the decision to enable the forum account upgrade is made manually and depends on the administrator's assessment. Which is completely wrong.
You have raised good concerns, it might be a little bit hard for us to calculate the activities, on these factors, because number one there are so many, and 2nd there is less information about these factors. If the admin had explained them well, then we might have been able to calculate our activity with no error or ambiguity.

But at the moment, I think this is all, and at least it works, and helps a little bit in this situation. Talking about your questions, I think, the online presence and the registration date, have the same logic, for example, 1 day will count as 1 activity with 1 post, (on BTT) but if you have been registered for 15 days with no post and then make started to make multiple posts in a day, the activity will increase. Like if you make 15 posts in one day after 15 days the activity will be "15". I think the same logic is here for the last two factors.

Talking about karma and post count, I assume admins must have some formula set to count activity.

Forum related / Re: My Activity Is Frozen - Please I Need Help
« on: February 01, 2024, 08:48:57 PM »
If you are stuck on an activity then this thread will help you, this topic is made by the admin himself, I also did not realize at the start that the activity on this forum was not only influenced by single factors instead at least 4 to 5 factors. As on BTT we only have to make posts and 1 activity will be added accordingly but with time factor also.

But here on ALTT we have to keep in mind many factors like the following.
The requirement for rank increase varies, and can depend on these factors:
- Post count : how many topics and posts have you created ?
- Karma : are your topics and replies getting positive karma?
- Online presence: are you present on the forum often, or just logging in posting the out.
- Registration date: when you signed-up, to prevent cheating with ranking.

You should get some karma, make new topics, and should spend some time on this forum as online time also included in increasing activity. I also thought at first that my activity is not increasing but with increasing karma, it also started to increase. I hope this solves your problem.

Isn't it logical that they would follow the rules and not risk fines and potential sanctions and why did they wait so long?
I think they were not wrong, and they must have also thought that that's why they did nothing until they realized they got caught by the SEC. Lack of knowledge or laziness are the only options left behind that might have caused them to avoid complying with SEC's rules and regulations. By the way, this all started because people used Binance to send funds to people in Gaza and Hamas. The case of Binance escalated from this and it is really logically hard to accept that they were fined $4+ billion of dollars..
What does this performance mean for us, ordinary people? So, could a regulation appear where it is illegal to trade on any no-KYC exchanges, that will practically bring some sort of problems to each of us?
You are right, rules should be made in such a way that user can keep his/her identity safe and can also safe from scams and hacks, but that's already happening, we have bunch of options to keep our funds safe in different non-custodial wallets, now its our turn to keep the seed phrase safe.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC) have you ever used it?
« on: February 01, 2024, 07:49:02 PM »
Layer-2 on Ethereum is growing, the opportunity for Layer-2 projects on Bitcoin is huge  :D
There is no doubt in that, L2 projects for BTC will streamline the adoption, those who have left BTC as a payment method will adopt it again and the volume in BTC will automatically increase. Till now I have read almost 3 different ideas about L2 solutions for BTC. One was on another forum, where the OP proposed that our current BTC will be staked, (HOW?) that's another thing. But after staking, we will be given money of equal worth.

And we can use that wrapped form of BTC on L2 of ETH, while we will be making profit from that staking as well, i.e. we will be making some token (utility token of the project) but this makes the whole thing centralized. I think we should give this wallet some time, as it is new and even if we are using it, we should not hold big amounts on it.

Polygon MATIC Forum / Re: -I bought Polygon Matic 0.77 USD-
« on: February 01, 2024, 07:42:01 PM »
I don't trade in Matic often, but only buy them when I need some to cover the fee, talking about your experience, I don't know how much professional in trading you are, but you might have gotten lucky in this unless you did not make a good TA. I faced this scene in AVAX, I know the section is only about matic. But, just for reference purposes, I talked about AVAX.

I made some profit in AVAX at the start, and when I took a big trade in the end, and unfortunately, it dumped from that price, but talking about Matic, it did not started its really, I have heard an alysists that says, it have the potential to reach $5 in the upcoming rally.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Future of Bitcoin
« on: January 31, 2024, 09:58:17 PM »
Some say that the good old days of Bitcoin are only the past. Some say Bitcoin can never be propelled to 68k ever again as the money is gone and never returned. Others say that when Bitcoin touched 3k in 2019, people also said that was the peak of Bitcoin. Many opinions about the most notable cryptocurrency recently have shown that, whether Bitcoin price rises or falls, it's still a hot topic for everyone to discuss and the future of Bitcoin remains a mystery. What about you, do you think Bitcoin has a bright future or not?
I was checking coinmarketcap yesterday for some reason, and I mostly didn't notice what is the overall trading volume in crypto registered on coinmarketcap. And the numbers were touching $59.18B, and that's is insane and gives me a thought that, in this world there still exists those people who thinks crypto is a scam and we should avoid it, that's not real money and blah blah blah.

I was one of these people but the point is, when I got to know about this technology and how things work, I got obsessed with BTC and began to think that why not try to acquire it in my spare time, if people can do it then why not me, if people can change their lifestyle, then why not me. The point is, that we all are interested in BTC because we have some motive with it, whether we want profits, to get anonymity, decentralization, or security etc. etc. We all have our own motives. And specifically talking about the ones you mentioned, these are the statements that people make with no or partial knowledge. I consider myself in partial knowledge category by the way.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Benefits of Holding Bitcoin Long Term
« on: January 31, 2024, 08:53:13 PM »
If you hold Bitcoin for a long period of time you will definitely have the best holding. Halving of 2024 is the most likely time for Bitcoin price to improve this year according to experts. If you are looking at the Halving in 2020, you will definitely get an idea of the Bitcoin market. Before the 2020 halving, Bitcoin was worth $17,000. But the year after bitcoin halving. in 2021, the price of bitcoin touched 69k dollars. This time all the people who are expert about Bitcoin estimate that after the Bitcoin halving in 2024, the price of Bitcoin is very likely to reach 150k dollars. So you can get maximum price of Bitcoin in just one to two year holding, so you should invest in Bitcoin fast. In the long term, the holding is likely to get two to three times the benefit.
The way you take BTC and think about it is wrong I am not judging you but simply trying to say we should not take everything for guaranteed. Past patterns and past data do not mean we should trust 100% on our analysis. The future can bring anything in front of you. And to be honest, at the current moment, I don't think in any way BTC could reach $150k in this or upcoming bull run either.

I am not being discouraged here, but that's the reality I am seeing, I saw the ETF was nothing but just hype that billions of money would flow into BTC but what we mostly do not realize is that big whales and companies are already buying thousands of BTC and that's why BTC went above $40k. We mostly thought the news and ETF's approval take it to the $40k but that's not what happened.

But I don't disagree with the fact that holding in BTC is the most beneficial thing everyone can make, even though I am holding 90$ of my funds in BTC. Holding in compared to Trading is far better.

Cryptocurrency Trading / Re: Becretiful don't buy JUP (Jupiter) Gate.io
« on: January 31, 2024, 06:49:11 PM »
You did a great job in finding this mistake of there's, I don't know how this is possible, I mean public users can't make that listing, so this obviously is a mistake of the exchange, but upon clicking on the trading pair they have provided in the right panel, it redirects us to the real JUP trading pair. And if we see the details of this listing at the bottom. That you can see in the pic below.

You can see it says, JUP has made its ATH in 2021, and if you know it just got listed today. So, they might be talking about some other JUP or they might have made a mistake here.

I don't think that's a big mistake to leave the exchange forever, but it's your choice, I will write to the support about this, or if you want to do the honor then let me know.

This question came to my mind when I saw John Abraham applying for a signature campaign on this forum. On BTT he has 4 negative feedbacks but here they are not shown. It occurred to me if this is not going to become a safe haven for BTT people with a bad reputation.

Surely the managers of signature campaigns, as they are in both forums, will take feedback into account, but in the long run I don't know.
You have raised an excellent point, I did not realize this until now I had no need but for campaign managers, it would be a big deal, they might be checking all members manually. I mean till now I don't know what procedures these managers follow to select a participant, but I guess if they are selecting a participant on the basis of this forum (ALTT) activities. Then they should check one more thing at the end, and that is the reputation of that member on BTT if that matters to the managers.

But it will double the time, like after checking the member's reput here on ALTT and selecting him/her and then rejecting him/her on the basis of the last check, which would cause them a huge loss of time. But that's really their problem and they might have come up with some solution as well.

But I don't think the admin of this forum is going to give negative karma on the basis of BTT forum.
