The regulatory environment of the Japanese cryptocurrency industry has been a bit tensed up since the past few weeks.

Following a crackdown on high privacy coins including Monero and Dash, the Japanese Financial Services Agency (FSA) has decided to issue improvement orders to five crypto exchanges including bitFlyer and Quoine.

According to local media reports, the agency found flaws in the exchange operators’ internal management systems, such as measures to prevent money laundering.

Banks & Cryptos / Zimbabwe’s Central Bank to Challenge High Court’s Ruling on Crypto Ban

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) is planning to challenge a High Court ruling which blocks its attempt to ban cryptocurrency trading in the country, according to a report by the Global Government Forum.

In May this year, the RBZ gave financial establishments 60 days to cease relationships with cryptocurrency exchanges Golix and Styx24. The bank argued that cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, were a tool for criminals and money launders.

Golix retaliated by filing a High Court challenge on 24 May, arguing that the Central bank’s ban was against Administrative Justice noted in the Constitution of Zimbabwe. As the central bank failed to offer a defence, the High Court gave a default judgment, permitting the exchange to resume trading.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) has awarded $192,380 to blockchain startup Factom for the development of a blockchain-based technology to secure Internet of Things (IoT) data.

Based in Austin, Factom is a leading solution provider and blockchain integrator for enterprise companies. Back in 2016, the startup was awarded $199,000 by the DHS to advance the security of digital identity for Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

According to the press release, the latest award is part of the fourth and final phase of S&T’s Silicon Valley Innovation Program (SVIP). By combining blockchain technology with critical infrastructure—such as sensors and cameras, Factom’s project helps protect the integrity and authenticity of data collected by these devices.

Ripple (XRP) is expecting a positive regulatory framework to be forthcoming from India’s Reserve Bank (RBI), according to a Times of India report published Friday, June 15.

Dilip Rao, Ripple’s global head of infrastructure innovation, is quoted by the Times as saying that despite RBI’s imposition of controversial restrictions on all domestic banks dealing with crypto, the bank’s recent inquiry into issuing its own central bank digital currency (CBDC) suggests that RBI might reverse its ban in the future.

A new data has revealed that the number of women considering adding cryptocurrency to their portfolio has doubled since the beginning of this year.
