Gambling discussion / Re: How can you cure a gambling addict?
« on: September 08, 2024, 03:41:25 PM »Yes, the role of a third party will be effective. I will give a simple example of this. For example, in controlling the activities of someone who is addicted, it can be observed by a third party or family, if they have an income every month then it can be taken over by the family to control their finances, this is safer than the money being held by an addict. There will always be a desire to continue their addiction that makes everything more difficult. There must be help that comes from others and one of them is someone who is an expert in the field. I believe that everything can be cured as long as there is a desire and someone to help.
As social beings, whether we like it or not, we will need other people to treat this kind of thing. Maybe some of them can recover without help, but if their addiction is very high then it is still difficult for them, they may even commit crimes to fulfill their desires driven by addiction.
Help from third parties is extremely effective. To overcome addiction, an addict must rely on a stronger force beyond his control. Third parties, such as family, friends, psychologists, and guidance counselors, play an important role in helping an addict. The experts will provide him with mental and moral encouragement, as well as guidelines for overcoming his addiction.
The role of family and friends is to ensure that, even in the absence of experts, the addict follows the instructions given to them by the experts. This will go a long way towards helping the addict overcome his addiction. Though difficult, it is possible, as you noted.
Maybe at first they will not accept it, but I believe that gradually they will get used to it and they can reduce and maybe even recover from the addiction.
