Yeah, i'm aware of Snowden's report. But IMO /dev/urandom (on popular Linux or BSD based OS) is secure enough for most people and it uses various input (CPU is just one of the input source) to generate random binary.
Not really, unless they are using additional encryption, open source bios, and if your computer is offline and not connected to the internet.
Almost everything should be considered compromised now, especially modern smartphones with stock android and iOS operating systems.
Most people are not targets yet, but I think they will become soon, maybe in next 5 to 6 years.

Good question, because surely there must be other privacy focused wallets and services under their radar, i saw a few people mentioning Wasabi in bitcointalk, i don't know if it is just speculation or if there is actually any hint at that.
It's possible Wasabi could be next, but I think they played a bit smarter game than Samourai developers.
Coinjoin is not illegal, but they can always make some bitcoin address connections with ''hackers'' and blame them for them.
Government is so very lucky to always have ''evil'' hackers from N.Korea and other countries for that purpose  :P

Yeah, most likely Wasabi and Sparrow are now in the cross-hair of the US government agency and maybe just gathering enough data to nail down the owners just like what they did to Samourai.
There is no real reason to touch Sparrow wallet.
They didn't directly do anything except providing different interface to Samourai wallet, and in latest version they removed all that from their code.

The next to fall? It could be another wallet, a mixer, or anything that makes them think it's used to launder money, which is really stupid. That is why it is normal that every day there are more services available only on .onion domains. It's not always about hiding something, but about being able to use it freely.
Or maybe a cryptocurrency forum?  :-\
They like to mix things, so maybe they will take a break and move on some exchange next.
Now would be the best time to improve security and privacy for any crypto service.

Economics , Sociology & Politics / Re: Cost of living

There is one interesting little website called Numbeo that can be useful for comparing cost of living in different countries around the world.
You will see big difference in some countries and cities, but it would be cool if someone could ''fork'' Numbeo or make Bitnumbeo and make it work with bitcoin or sats units, instead of only standard fiat currencies.

Although, I won't deny that it would be a coup if you could suddenly start paying for subscriptions via Stripe using crypto.
I think I had Stripe account years ago, but I don't miss it at all.
There are plenty of payment cards that support cryptocurrency payments now, so even if Stripe someday adds support for stablecoins it would be anything revolutionary.
I am reading all the news with a big dose of reservation, until I have multiple confirmations, everyone wants only growing numbers and sensational news.

Crypto Wallets / Phoenix Wallet another US ban?
« on: April 26, 2024, 08:03:42 PM »
According to latest tweet Phoenix wallet will be removed from Android and iOS app stores in few days.
They are recommending users from this region not force-closing of channels, because of significant on-chain fees.
Phoenix Wallet is currently one of the best non-custodial lightning network wallets.

Another service focused on user privacy that is closed with the excuse of money laundering.
According to them everyone and everything will be laundering money soon, except them :P
I was never a supporter and regular user of Samourai wallet but I respect all the work they did for privacy.
They probably made some mistakes along the way, but we all did, and I never once thought they should be arrest for creating bitcoin wallet.
Question is what wallet and service is next on the list in their evil agenda?

Basic Questions about Cryptos / Re: Basic Concepts Of Bitcoin Mixers
« on: April 26, 2024, 06:52:41 PM »
But with how Bitcoin community/devs value backward compatibility, it'll be optional privacy feature and those who use it obtain less privacy due to small amount of Bitcoiner who use it.
I don't think so.
There are a lot of people who are always interested in privacy for Bitcoin, they are just not so much advertised in news and social media.
New wave of bitcoin developers are coming and I think we are going to see positive changes in this direction soon.
Either that or people who care about privacy will just move to some other coins.

Monero Forum / Re: XMRT : Wrapped Monero
« on: April 26, 2024, 06:44:17 PM »
That article seems to imply they plan to detect "illegal activity" on XMRT though. And yesterday they just post more detailed explanation about XMRT on https://everywherefinance.medium.com/xmrt-goals-how-it-works-9c17cca90e75.
Sure, like I said they can do whatever they want on other chains like ethereum, even if they claim they won't freeze or blacklist anything.
I am sure bridging from erc20 to monero chain and vice versa will be centralized and this is the part they can always censor.
Another thing I am concerned is how peg with monero will work and potential of totally different and manipulated XMR prices.

While OS usually offer CSPRNG, where CS stands for Cryptographically Secure. But unless you use open-source wallet and actually inspect the code, who knows if your wallet actually use that. And not all CSPRNG are equal.
I think it's best to listen Edward Snowden, and he is saying that most of the stuff we consider Cryptographically Secure have integrated secret backdoors in them.
Knowing that I am very careful saying that anything is secure, unless it has open source code that can be inspected.
Everyone knows that most processors have backdoors also...

Crypto Wallets / Re: Samourai Wallet seized
« on: April 26, 2024, 05:42:34 PM »
I really don't get why don't US government takee a closer look at the  NFT money laundry industry .
I am sure they are already tracking that and everything that is recorded on bitcoin blockchain, so they are not going to forget it.
They will never look at billions that are used for money laundry with constant wars around the world.
It's much better for them for people to argue and fight with each other while they are stealing and making privacy a bad thing.

I hope Sparrow Wallet doesn't go too far in this direction, at least for now.
It is still possible to use decentralized whirlpool, or at least forking it. I don't think arresting the developers will stop the project.
They already removed all connections with samourai and whirpool in latest version 1.9.0

Crypto Exchanges / Exchanges that support Litecoin MWEB?
« on: April 25, 2024, 05:08:00 PM »
Does anyone know any exchanges and other services that support Litecoin MWEB (mimble-wimble) addresses?

I used Litecoin before but only with older address formats, and I tried searching online for more information about exchanges but I couldn't find anything.

If you don't know what MWEB is please research it first before anwering anything.

Crypto Wallets / Re: Samourai Wallet seized
« on: April 25, 2024, 04:45:01 PM »
Instead of arresting the real criminals and killers they are spending enormous amount of time trying to kill privacy and shutdown anything connected with that  :P

Worst thing is they are not going to stop with Samourai wallet, they will move to everything else soon, and they need money to fund their stupid wars around the world.

Meanwhile people are dumbed down with games, drugs, sports and stupid politics.

Monero Forum / Re: XMRT : Wrapped Monero
« on: April 25, 2024, 04:35:32 PM »
Their idea and goal isn't bad. I also like they don't plan to implement freeze feature, although they still can prevent conversion from XMRT to XMR if they detect illegal activity. Anyway, i can see few XMR holder would benefit from this feature if they already registered to CEX which support XMRT.
It's impossible to detect any ''illegal activity'' on monero, whatever that is.
Privacy is not illegal but more people are listening to governments repeating this like parrots.
Nobody really know what guys from Everywhere Finance can do on other chains, there can be bugs in code and other issues, so there is a risk involved with this.

I like to keep a few bucks in my phone. I use now Aqua and Exodus, which I know aren't the best wallets, but they are convenient and I only hold  small amounts.
They are fine for using with small amounts when you need to send or receive payment urgently.
I know some people wanted to invent the wheel again so they used dices to generate seed words for their wallet but they generated very weak entropy, and that is worse than using PRNG.
Another fun fact is that most computers, laptops and many smartphones use software-based PRNG, so think about that ;)

705
Currently it supports only bitcoin but in the future more will be added to it - Ethereum, Litecoin and the rest would be added to it very soon.
If I was someone from Unijon I would remove Litecoin from all future ideas to use it for mixing.
Litecoin already have mweb addresses with integrated mimble wimble technology, that works great for privacy.
But mixing for Ethereum and Tether could be useful to add in future, if customers are interested.
