Bitcoin Forum / Re: Should i invest in only Bitcoin?
« on: October 26, 2018, 05:21:26 PM »
Nah obviously invest in other things not crypto as well.. but even a few altcoins sprinkled in there could be wise for the future, but choose very very conservatively.. since the risk is infinitely higher in these areas of investments.. but definitely not all crypto.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Bitcoin has no competition
« on: October 26, 2018, 05:17:12 PM »
All those FUDsters that where saying year ago how Bitcoin would fail because another currency would take over get proven wrong year after year. The more time Bticoin is alive, the stronger it gets and the bigger the network effect. Sorry but there will not be a Bitcoin 2.0. Bitcoin will go to 100k+ per coin in the next 5 to 10 years, it will absorb all the value researched in the field if not directly through protocol improvements then through sidechains.

Bitcoin will remain the only solid coin. The only coin that survived for the longest time (other coins can't claim this unless they invent a time machine).
There will be alts that pump really hard and make people millionaires, but no alt is going to surpass Bitcoin's strength and solidity. No coin will get a bigger marketcap. In the long term people holding 21+ BTC will be rewarded by history with rich-tier status for seeing the value in it before most people did. Do not let the FUDsters trick your mind or the trolls try to derrail the excellent job being done by Core devs.

Let's continue then our path towards inevitable triumph.

I definitely agree.. the whole mining transactions are too costly and its too slow argument are getting old... Bitcoin's real nature is store of value, not buying coffee..  viewing it as bad because it doesn't do all things well is really shortsided, imo.

I'd say on the margin exchanges its absolutely being manipulated, and it hurts the rest of the market because through arbitrage most of the other exchanges follow suit.  I'd encourage everyone to make a Bitmex testnet account so you can paper trade on margin and just see how silly with a few hundred testnet bitcoins, how much you can disrupt the market. I think you'll be amazed at the power you have, much less someone doing 2000-10,000 bitcoin.

Cryptocurrency Trading / Re: Cryptocurrency is a bubble?
« on: October 18, 2018, 08:31:19 AM »
I'd say everything is a bubble right now... housing market.. stocks...equities... everything is above its current value and people keep overextending and keep paying it.  I'd say if crypto is a bubble then the bubble is near the end of its correction where as things like stock markets have a long LONG way to fall before institutional money will be interested again.

Cryptocurrency Trading / Re: How Far are we from the bull run
« on: October 18, 2018, 08:29:40 AM »
As long as we maintain higher lows, pretty soon.. the 200 Day Moving average is coming down to test the ultimate "golden cross" which is the primary indicator for institutional money to buy... Id say at the very latest we should hit 8000+ by December-January... Bullish scenario is test towards 10,000 by January.

Cryptocurrency Trading / Re: Falling market trading strategies?
« on: October 18, 2018, 08:27:21 AM »
To be honest I love when the prices for coins are falling, everyone is panicking, the transaction speeds are fast and cheap.  The only strategies I know for falling market is to buy as much as possible, and wait till the price jumps.  Anyone has interesting falling market strategies they are willing to share?

I use 200 day Moving Average on day charts to examine how far above/below a token is for a buy/sell opportunity and whether it falls through or gains support on this to confirm bear or bull trends.. its a very simple indicator that will definitely show you areas on a chart that you should not be participating, which is really important.. for example look at Bitcoin as far as 200 MA goes in the chart below...

Cryptocurrency Trading / Re: Where do you sell coins ?
« on: October 18, 2018, 08:24:23 AM »
Binance and Bitfinex are my primary ones but I'll dabble in IDEX, Cryptopia, and Bittrex when needed.  The main thing youre looking for in trading is low fees and liquidity.. Small exchanges can be good for arbitrage opportunities but its tough to get out of large positions if you have to sell through half of the order book to get out... but definitely check out Binance and Bitfinex if they are allowed in your region.

Cryptocurrency credit cards is where the line really blurs between over-regulation and necessary.   Crypto credit cards allow you to purchase things without reporting taxes, so I could see this industry getting the axe by the SEC more than any other area, including exchanges.  I'm hesitant in these early stages til I see more adoption or at least thoughts from regulators.. I hate to play "mother may I" but its just the state of fringe harsh regulations that we are in.

Cryptocurrency Trading / Re: Why is the USDT crashing?
« on: October 16, 2018, 09:28:27 PM »
I think because USDT is a stable coin because the price is set by the US Dollar. Because of this, USDT will never experience price fluctuations such as crypto coins in general. So, it can be said that investing in this coin is safe but not profitable enough.

Thing is really its only as stable as its perception to be stable.. two days ago was a prime example of how volatile even stable coins can be when theres fud in the air. (Bitfinex halting deposits, Kucoin stopping USDT transfers).  Theres lots of money in USDT and some hodlers have millions to lose if the token crashes, so it can cause lots of panic very easily.

Sorting Box / Re: how to choose bounty in this forum
« on: October 16, 2018, 09:23:23 PM »
Its a tough question that most of us can't really answer because its a balancing act on whats the highest payout vs whats a scam vs what's really going to be worth a damn in the future, and you're never going to get all of that information right and will make mistakes... my advice is even if you waste time on a scam or get lots of tokens for a couple that don't list on coinmarketcap or exchanges, don't let it discourage you.. it happens to all of us and lately maybe even more often than not.

Forum related / Re: About karma
« on: October 15, 2018, 08:11:34 PM »
When I reward +Karma I usually post that I rewarded Karma to make it more honest and transparent, so it can be encouraging to others, but examples for everyone to see what I find worthy of it.  What I don't want to see though is people posting stuff to purely Karma farm or posts for milestones like "I made 10 Karma, and you can too!" ... if I start seeing posts like this I will give them negative Karma since I'm already on to that game from BTT.  Also don't be afraid to post on the 7th or 8th page of a thread if you have something to say or would like to add to the conversation... Moderators of their section will read them, so no sense of trying to Karma farm on page 1 threads... I assure you that even if there's a flavor that's the same as merit.. the recipe and presentation will be different.

Looks pretty nice, black isn't my thing though but rewarded +Karma for making it to those who do... could you make like a cool blue sort of color where its not so "white" and not so "black" for the neutral people in between? :)

Forum related / Re: the path of bitcointalk and altcointalk
« on: October 15, 2018, 08:00:16 PM »
- As you know. Altcointalk is called a Bitcoin-based forum. The whole system and the new level seem to be very similar to Bitcointalk when they start developing forums.

- At Altcointalk you just create enough posts to increase your rankings. It's similar to the early days of Bitcointalk when people just did it to improve their rankings.

- But the problem here is karma and merit. I do not know whether altcointalk's karma is limited by bitcointalk merit or not. But if altcointalk is growing and there are many people involved in the forum. Altcointalk then follows the chosen bitcointalk path

- But the problem here is karma and merit.I feared that Altcointalk's karma would be like the merit of bitcointalk. The forum is growing and the number of participants will increase. Highly ranked members will be extremely popular. After that, Karma will play a role in determining the ranking of members on the forum. It will happen?

Will Altcointalk follow the old way that bitcointalk has chosen?

I apologize for the mistakes in english grammar. I'm not good at English so please be sympathetic to me

One thing I would say is different is once you are a Karma source it does not appear to be limited like a 2:1 ratio like merit is, so its easier to disperse it and I do so very often.  I somewhat agree that the karma/merit debate has a fine line going both ways and it will require a balancing act to make sure that Karma if implemented like merit, doesn't become such an annoying gaited system, and on top of that, a manipulated one.  I think your concerns are valid and your concerns are felt, even amongst high ranking members, and we will make sure that it doesn't become as exclusionary as btt.  +Karma for creating a good talking point post.

Grats guys, we survived longer than most ICOs will :D  We should see dramatic increases I think in the forum in year 2, as the bull market diminishes and enthusiasm returns, you will see a massive influx in people scrambling for all they can find.

Suggestion Box / Re: Suggestion Box
« on: October 15, 2018, 07:51:24 PM »
I think holiday themes could be cool to add to the header of the forums, and make each month have a slightly different flare to them.  I would also like it so you could see who gave +/- Karma on a thread and a bonus would be if it highlighted the text like as a green color or something if it was positive and hid in a black box if it was negative.
