Bitcoin Forum / Re: Bitcoin is too far from Dead
« on: December 04, 2020, 04:10:16 AM »
I think Bitcoin is going to have a significant branding issue. Right now the entire world knows the word Bitcoin. A fraction have purchased a Bitcoin at some point. And then a fraction of that fraction have ever tried to use Bitcoin.

The people in crypto that like Bitcoin do not use it. I mean some technical people may be using lightning and some people pay the big on chain fees, but the majority in Bitcoin are speculators, traders, space is filled with them. They do not care about utility or something that's robust. They are about making money.

The moment cryptocurrency breaks into the mainstream and attracts real adoption and usage is the the moment Bitcoin is going to have a significant branding issue because all the people who have heard of Bitcoin are going to finally try to use it and see that it sucks complete ass. The Bitcoin brand will be weakened, it might get pretty ugly. There's only two ways I can see Bitcoin saving itself from this situation.

1) Bitcoin increases its block size. (Doubtful)
2) A majority of people are okay with being restricted to custodial wallets and do not care to actually use the blockchain. (Also doubtful)

That's why I liked when I saw Marc use Bitcoin and was immediately dissatisfied as seen on his Twitter. https://twitter.com/MarcFalzon

Now I don't know if Marc's opinion will be representative of the general public, but if it is Bitcoin may be in big trouble soon...

Bitcoin Cash Forum / Re: Bitcoin Cash hard fork BCHA faces 51% attack
« on: December 04, 2020, 04:00:26 AM »
I still cannot understand the purpose of BCHA. No service I know of supports it, and there are no major individuals or corporations supporting the network, sure the only reason BCHA is above $10 is because many have not split their coins
I'm sure if everyone had easy access to split and sell BCHA it would be a $1 or $2 coin at best lol

That's how I felt when I split my coins. I was going to do it safely with a small TX, but then I was like fuck it ill just doing it all at once
same thing with dumping my BCHA. I was going to slowly sell it, but then I said fuck it and just dumped dat bitch on the order book making the price dip like 25 cents

I was feeling the FUD lately with ETH and BTC mooing and BCH just sitting back and chilling, but I am now feeling confident again in my investment
I really need to just step away for like 60 days
I hope PayPal later gives users the ability to withdraw so then people can see Bitcoin sucks with the high fees lol. If custodial wallets become the norm for p2p commerce its gonna be dumb and sad to see

Bitcoin Cash Forum / Why not BCH?
« on: December 03, 2020, 06:21:01 PM »
I think a lot of people argue Bitcoin is better than Bitcoin Cash because there is a lot more transactions happening on chain.

I believe a majority of Bitcoin on-chain transactions are just speculators who are sending Bitcoins between exchanges to provide liquidity, make money from arbitraging, or to purchase alt coins.

Why are they using Bitcoin?

Because BTC dominates trading pairs.
I wonder how things would change if exchanges start using another coin or token that is cheaper to transact on chain as the main trading pair. I think you would see BTC lose a lot of value.
Because then every trader, arbitrager, etc. will use the lower fee coin to move on chain.
$5 fee on Bitcoin right now

Cryptocurrency Price Speculations / Re: Bitcoin is Amazing..

I like Kevin O'Leary's perspective on Cryptocurrency. Skip to the part where they talk about Bitcoin and ETFs

Also, I liked that Kevin challenged pomp asking "Why Bitcoin? What about these other cryptocurrencies?"

While we are waiting for alt season we can reassure ourselves we invested in alts instead of Bitcoin because we only want "modest returns" lol

Therefore lowering our expectations as Bitcoin continues to dominate

87
Now it just needs to stay above that ath price lol
maybe Bitcoin is preparing a shuttle launch to $25k with one giant wick

Cryptocurrency discussions / Some strategies to use in the Crypto world
« on: November 30, 2020, 04:30:56 PM »
There are a few strategies I think an investor can choose. Each with pros and cons.

1) Have a diversified portfolio that is weighted by each crypto's market cap. This should resemble similar price action to the "total crypto market cap" chart.
Pros:
Less volatility and least risky.
Cons:
Will require you to rebalance the portfolio regularly as the crypto market caps change.
Lower overall returns compared to other strategies.

2) Portfolio invested in two or more coins. Each coin being selected based on strong fundamentals.
Pros:
Higher overall returns
Do not have to touch portfolio
Cons:
Higher volatility and riskier

3) Portfolio invested in a single coin. Coin being selected based on strong fundamentals relative to its current price. Basically which coin is the most undervalued with strong fundamentals.
Pros:
Possibly highest overall returns
Cons:
Highest volatility and carries the most risk.

Myself personally I don't care much for (1) but I can't decide between (2) and (3). Right now I am in the (3) boat but I might switch to strategy (2) come 2021.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Tired of waiting cryptos bull run
« on: November 30, 2020, 04:25:35 PM »
In this market, buying during a bear market or in the beginning of a bull market it is hard to lose. Even the worst altcoin is bound to 5 or 10x in a bull market. You only lose if you buy an outright scam like Bitconnect. Even a scam will bring in temporary big gains lol.
