On December 8, the country announced a program called “Adopting El Salvador,” which would allow foreign Bitcoin millionaires to fast-track their access to a Salvadoran Passport by investing $1 million USDT. However, the program will be available only for 1,000 applicants each year.

At first, I thought that the crypto millionaire just needed to have their own investment of $1 Million or more that needed to be shown as proof that they are real Bitcoin millionaires to be eligible as one of those 1000 people to be approved and become an official citizen of El Salvador.

However, upon looking for more information, I saw this. To achieve being a citizen and owning the Freedom Visa, a donation to the government is required.

The development comes about two weeks after El Salvador launched a Bitcoin Freedom Visa for foreigners willing to invest $1 million in BTC or Tether USDT into the Central American country.
This offer is particularly attractive for crypto millionaires residing in countries that have restrictions on Bitcoin or those who wish to use Bitcoin without any limitations on time and location.

OP asked Which is safer to hold your Bitcoin in wallet or Exchanges?
I think wallet is safer than exchange.
But at several that have good reputation, I think It's also safe.
it's my opinion
We always need to know that even if an exchange has a good reputation, it doesn't mean that it is safe to hold your Bitcoin or any other asset you have on it. There are still possibilities or circumstances, like the hacking of the exchange or any other possible scenario that will put your funds at risk. It is always advisable to have a wallet that gives you complete control over your funds, rather than relying on a third party to hold them for you.

Sorting Box / Re: One of My Karmas Disappeared
« on: December 25, 2023, 04:56:29 AM »
I think it means you might have gotten a negative Karma from another user.
This must be the case. Initially, I was unsure about the concept of karma, so I decided to look for answers to my questions to gain clarity. Also, I noticed that OP's badge displayed both a "Karma Good" and a "Karma Bad" label. This indicates that apart from receiving positive karma, someone has also given him negative karma.

Indeed, most likely, people do not have sufficient information on how to correctly calculate their profits in cryptocurrency and pay tax on it. In the United States, tax evasion is considered a serious crime. Therefore, it is unlikely that nearly half of Americans will deliberately expose themselves to the possibility of criminal prosecution. Apparently, this is a shortcoming of the tax authorities themselves. But this is really interesting information.
There is a tool available on Google that can help users calculate the percentage of tax they need to pay on the income or profit they earned from cryptocurrency. This tool can also provide key takeaways and factors to determine the tax rate. It is important to have this information before filing their crypto earnings in their ITR.

For Bitcoin to reach $1 million by 2026 seems like impossible. There are only two years left before 2026, and the current big news we have is the upcoming halving and ETF approval, this might not be sufficient to make the price of Bitcoin reach that price. Reaching such a high price needs a lot of time and pullbacks before it can make it. I don't say that it is impossible for Bitcoin to reach this high, it will likely take a considerable amount of time before it happens.

First instance
Assuming you went to a coffee shop to get a cup of coffee. If the price tag on the coffee says $5 and you choose to pay with crypto...

second instance
Assuming you went to a dealer's shop to purchase a ferrari car worth over $300K...

Question 1
Would you prefer to pay with Bitcoin whose price is about $43K, or you would prefer to pay with a particular coin whose price is about 50cents ?.
First instance - Bitcoin, yes,
Second instance - Bitcoin, yes,

Question 2
Give your explanation on why you made such decision.
It is a great way to promote Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency by adding it as a payment option. As a Bitcoin user, I believe it is a safe and convenient payment option and will use it to show my support. I hope to encourage others in my country to embrace cryptocurrency as well.

Question 3
Did you use a reasonable approach in making such decision or it was based on choice ?.
I just wanted to show my support for business owners who are interested in expanding their payment options. For example, in Boracay, Philippines, there's a local Bitcoin wallet called pouch.ph that's used to pay over 250 local merchants, including hotels, cafes, and stores.

I am chuffed for the kid. Such kids make me have hope for the future generation. However as much as he might succeed in crypto, he should make his education a priority because one never knows in crypto. He may need something to fall back on when something goes south, or he gets a bit older. Congrats to him though
Just like other successful people in their careers/investments/businesses, they still try to pursue finishing their education because they understand the importance of having a diploma. It can be used as a backup plan in case their current career path comes to an end. At least they will have something like a hidden card that they can use to try another career.

I have been working on this forum for free for a long time, but never got paid. This is the first BTC campaign to come. I applied for your signature campaign with great hope, but was not selected. You gave more importance to Teleport account, then what crime did I commit?  We are old users of Altcoin forum.

Slot is open in your campaign, if possible Slot give me a chance to work.

@Julerz12 Thank you sir....
Be patient, @julerz still not accepting any participants. This campaign plans to officially start next year, on January 1, 2024. Not all teleported accounts are being prioritized, only those previously part of this campaign on another forum were given a chance to continue their participation.

This signature campaign thread is posted in advance to facilitate the application process of all interested Altcointalks forum users.
This signature campaign will officially start on January 1, 2024.

I'm not the type of person who makes New Year's resolutions. I only did it once when I had lost so much money in gambling. I promised myself that I would never make the same mistake again, and I managed to keep my resolution that year until today.

Since then, I have not made any New Year's resolutions because I believe that if you want to change something in your life or become a better person, you should take action instead of just making promises to yourself.

Economics , Sociology & Politics / Re: Food Shortage

Like I replied in your other post, this is a general economy board, so the local board (Nigeria) is the appropriate place to post this since your are speaking from the Nigeria perspective. Incase you feel like posting it on this board, then it is advisable to specify the country, so as to get all audience along with the context.

Back to the post: the whole situation was never like this back then in 2012/13/14/15 and early 2016. This current and previous administration clearly show how poor the administration have been. They clearly lack the capacity to grow and move a nation forward. They think they are doing their best, but i can tell you that their best is never enough.
Exactly, you remembered that they where this certain period of time farmers where scared to work on their farm because of insecurity reasons and that also lead to low food storage. And food stuff became expensive to afford. They just need to encourage the farmers with facilities and good security.
There are some cases, that the greedy of businessmen are the reason why they lead to such situations. They resort to unfair means to create difficulties for farmers, who are then forced to sell their produce at a lower price. The businessmen buy the produce and hoard it for months until the demand goes up, thus earning a higher profit. This creates food shortages and affects people's livelihoods. Unfortunately, this is a common practice in many countries, and it can only be stopped if people take action against these unethical practices.

Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling not fun for everyone!
« on: December 23, 2023, 03:08:21 PM »
Gambling is often associated with making money, but the truth is that for many people, the main goal is to have fun. This is regardless of their social status. Even those who are poor may turn to gambling as a way to relieve stress or to try to improve their financial situation. For them, gambling can be a way to have fun and forget about the things that make them feel stressed.

On the other hand, wealthy people may see gambling as a way to take risks and experience the thrill of gambling. It's a fun activity for them, and they enjoy the excitement that comes with it.

Ultimately, whether gambling is fun or not depends on the individual. Everyone has the right to enjoy it, regardless of their financial status.
Truly, different set of people see gambling in different ways. For some, it can be a means of expanding wealth although it doesn't work for everyone. While for some, after understanding the conditions of the whole game, they see it as a fun activity and loss incurred or not, they really don't bother themselves because they're just doing it to kill time and for leisure.
Each one should know their purpose for gambling. Although I won't advise for gambling. Yes for expansion of income, one should note that not everytime will the outcome be in their favor, they even should expect more losses than gains and if they're not willing to accept the terms of the act, then they shouldn't go for it. I'd strongly suggest that gambling no matter the caliber of persons should be seen as fun as the expectations won't always be high and in situations that the expectation doesn't happen, it won't affect anyone.
This is not due to the reason of expanding their wealth, A lot of people who do this are the type of those people even without money will continue to gamble because they think gambling is their only way to make quick earning or those individuals who turn to gambling do so to improve their financial situation. However, the reality is that they often end up losing everything they have in an attempt to recover their losses. This is because, instead of making a profit, their focus is on making money. As a result, they continue to gamble, hoping to recoup their losses, but only end up in a worse financial situation than before.

Economics , Sociology & Politics / Re: Cost of living
« on: December 23, 2023, 12:30:04 PM »
This dependence on the government leads to laziness, as people are unwilling to work hard to earn a living and prefer to rely on government support for their daily needs.
I think you're right, the ones who depend on governments often become lazy and they don't put any effort to earn a living for themselves and for their families. People in some countries prefer to work as a government servant and they proudly say that they're working for the government.

I believe that a person should not rely on government to look after his/her daily expenses. A person should be at least self-sufficient enough to earn bread and butter for his family and for himself. Someone who's doing that won't have to worry even if he gets no money from government.
Yes, no one should rely on the government. Everyone needs to work hard and provide for themselves. However, due to the recent pandemic that has affected people around the world, some individuals have become reliant on the government to support them financially until they can recover from the damage caused by the pandemic. It seems unfair when these same individuals appear to be unaffected by the pandemic and continue to live their lives as usual on social media. They should not rely on the government to provide for them unless they truly need the support.

Only rich people can gamble for fun but most people gamble to make money. Besides gambling requires money so it is foolish to have fun with it. There are difficult and easy moments in gambling but there you should analyze with experience. In gambling you will always lose it is really false advertising so you have to collect money between losing and winning.
Most of the time gambling is about making money, but the truth is for a lot of many people, the goal is just to have fun. This did not depend on their social status. Even those poor people will gamble as a way to relieve stress or to try to have a better financial status. For most of them, gambling can also be a way to have fun and make them forget about the things that make them feel stressed.

One more thing, rich people may see gambling as a way to face risks and have experience the thrill of gambling. It's a fun activity for them, and they enjoy the excitement that comes with it.

Whether gambling is fun or not depends on the individual. Everyone has the right to enjoy it, regardless of their financial status.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Bitcoin hardware wallet
« on: December 23, 2023, 11:10:49 AM »
I think, For keeping your bitcoins safe, good hardware wallets are Ledger Nano S, Ledger Nano X, Trezor Model T, and KeepKey. They're like special USB drives that keep your bitcoins super secure. Pick one that feels right for you to make sure your bitcoins are safe and sound!
Ledger Nano models are always being advised as the best hardware wallets, however, we all heard about the previous massive ledger hack and the fake app of the Ledger Nano models that were added to the Microsoft store. Ledger Nano is being targeted now as the hackers know that there are a lot of users of this hardware wallet. So, before using Ledger Nano, make sure to follow all the needed steps to fully secure the hardware wallet.
