to be honest, we have steemit, golos, minds. there are so many platforms with their tokens. i don't see why facebook coin will create a turbulance in the crypto sector.
Maybe because its widespread usage among users, investors, financial entities, companies etc. will dwarf every other current crypto?

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Crypto will be the future real money

The decentralized nature of crypto currencies means it is not to be regulated/controlled by a particular person/organization. Crypto can not take the place of a real money that will be used in the society.
True.
Decentralized cryptos cannot replace the legal tenders as they cannot be regulated/controlled by a Central Bank.

I do not think that stable coins will dominate the cryptocurrency market.
I do

These are megaplayers, the so called Powers that Be.
These entities decide the future of the financial system, the future of cryptos, the future of all things money.
Just consider Libra, the players involved in this Stablecoin

As the title says, I've created an article about Facebook's Libra.
@AoC, a nice article you have created  :)

"Libra, sometimes called Global Coin, can be referenced as a stablecoin of sorts, however it functions much more different than a regular stablecoin, such as Tether."
Libracoins represent fiat money (basket of major currencies) just as much as Tether represents one of them ($)

"Facebook wants their new cryptocurrency to become a replacement for paper money" means they want to replace cash with digital, not to replace fiat money (central banks money) with something else

So, I do't see no monetary revolution here.
No new money, just the old one in new digital clothes

It will increase awareness, and it would be beneficial to cryptocurrency adoption. On the bottom line, it is not what Satoshi meant, when creating Bitcoin.
The point of Bitcoin.
This is an important question, what's the point of cryptocurrencies.
Reading in the forums related to cryptos I get the impression that today Bitcoin, and in general cryptos, are basically considered and used as a way to speculate and make more or less quick money, but I don't think that cryptocurrencies should be reduced to that.
So, what did Satoshi meant creating Bitcoin?

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Do we really need stable coins?
« on: June 30, 2019, 12:51:59 PM »
Cryptocurrency is a digital currency that has a fluctuating price ie the price can go up and down at any time, I don't really understand what this stable coin means, if I think that stable coin doesn't need to be in the Cryptocurrency.  Because with Cryptocurrency prices that go up and down will make us get a lot of profits.
@Confero,
Cryptocurrency were created to offer another kind of money, not to speculate and make you get a lot of profits.
Cryptocurrency is much bigger than that.

Cryptocurrency is a monetary revolution, not just another way to make gamblers and speculators rich (or poor).
Cryptocurrency has the chance of being a new kind of money, a better money than the current fiat money.

The role of money is not to make you rich but to be store of value, means of both payment and transfer value.

If you consider all of this, you'll see why Stablecoins are so important.

Considering cryptocurrencies just as a means to become rich, you are depicting them a niche phenomenon, something reserved to gamblers and speculators.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: HOW DO YOU SPOT OUT A GOOD PROJECT
« on: June 30, 2019, 12:38:52 PM »
It should be done with complex research to find out a good project.
Actually, there are many things to do but at least learn about some main things firstly like :
1. The track record of the team members
2. Project identity
3. How potential its MVP
4. The strategy and plans
5. Roadmap
6. It's competitors
7. The use of its tokens/coins
8. How strong the community
9. Listing plan
10. Partnership
11. Etc

I like to look at this points when I look at any project, maybe we can add all later on on one post for all to benefit from it.

professional Website Design.
Good Developers/Core Team.
Professional Whitepaper.
Strong Roadmap.
The ready product or prototype.
The Concept .
usage of Token.
Excellent Technological Explanation..
Real Dev's Profile link.
Partnership.
Good Explanation use of raised fund.
Hard Cap / Soft Cap.
Total Supply
high Security.
Low Free Airdrop.
Great list Ataw and alltalk!

Thank to you I finally understood what fundamental analysis means related to cryptocurrencies!

There are tons of posts about advising to buy this and that, but mostly are related to technical analysis (charts analysis).
Probably traders, short-time traders, are only interested in technical analysis, while investors are more interested in fundamental analysis.
Cryptoforums are mostly populated by traders, I guess

Stable Coins Forum / Re: How about gold-backed Stablecoins?
« on: June 30, 2019, 11:37:30 AM »
Anyway, as the Mods have moved this thread here, they want me probably to advertise my stuff.
Well, there you go  :)

Kinesis, Indonesian Government Postal Service (POS Indonesia), the world’s third largest Post Office and OZL Liechtenstein, to launch the first and only purpose-built bullion vault in Indonesia

London 28th June 2019

Kinesis has been closely following the development of new regulation in Indonesia as they hope to assist in the implementation of a monetary system to assist the unbanked and underbanked population in Indonesia.

A key component of the new gold trading regulation in Indonesia (February 2019), with inputs by Kinesis, states that any online or exchange-based physical gold trading product must be deliverable and physically located in an Indonesian vaulting facility. Currently there is no purpose-built bullion vaulting facility in Indonesia, despite being in a major gold demand and trading centre with over 160 mt/yr gold production, 75+ mt/yr domestic demand and a 100 mt/yr capacity LBMA-approved gold refinery.

Kinesis has partnered with Offenes Zolllager in Liechtenstein AG (OZL) and the Indonesian government to construct a high security, best-in-class vault facility to house the physical metal used in the Kinesis Monetary System and the Allocated Bullion Exchange (ABX) / Jakarta Futures Exchange (JFX) shariah compliant, spot physical bullion exchange. This will serve as the central bullion hub in Indonesia for both conventional and shariah compliant bullion.

In accordance with the new regulation, Kinesis, OZL and the Indonesian Government Postal Service (PT POS) are planning to develop, build and operate an international standard vaulting facility in Jakarta.

Additional stakeholders in the project include, Jakarta Futures Exchange (JFX), government clearinghouse Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (KBI) and religious organisation – Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) who have 100+ million members.

PT POS Indonesia is the state-owned postal service in Indonesia and third largest postal service in the world, in terms of number of offices and sales outlets (over 58,000). In addition to delivering postal services, they are also the largest non-bank financial institution in Indonesia, providing payments, cross border remittances, micro-loans and other financial services.

Stable Coins Forum / Re: How about gold-backed Stablecoins?
« on: June 30, 2019, 11:28:47 AM »
Like the OP must write this thread in the Announcement because the OP has a basis for the promotion of coins that are backed up with Gold.
How can I reply to this thread if all the information is provided by the OP. LOL
This thread was about gold-backed Stablecoins in general, not about one of them, that's why I opened this thread in the Stablecoins Section of altcoinstalks.com

I don't have a basis "for the promotion of coins that are backed up with Gold", I have a basis for the promotion of one of them.
If you read the content of the previous posts, I never mentioned Kinesis, so I'm not advertising my stuff.
If it's true that just talking about Stablecoins I'm advertising my stuff, then it is also true than talking about cryptocurrencies I'm advertising my stuff.
Which would mean that I'm allowed to talk only in the Advertise your Stuff Forum Section.

It is the same as if someone having a signature advertising for, e.g., the Authpaper Coin, couldn't open a thread about "Cryptocurrencies and Money" or "The Futures of Cryptos" etc. in the altcoinstalks.com other than here, because "the OP has a basis for the promotion of coins".
It is the same as if someone having a signature advertising for, e.g., the Ferrum Network, couldn't open a thread about "Blockchain Networks and Banks" or "Exchanges for cryptos", because "the OP has a basis for the promotion of blockchain networks".

I don't know now if it makes sense posting and discussing about gold-backed Stablecoins in general in a Forum Section headed Advertise your Stuff.

So, you wrote to the Mods and one of them moved this thread here.
After the Mods moved the thread here, you haven't replied anything.
So, it was not that you wanted to reply but you were prevented to, your intent was just to let the Mods move this thread away from the Stablecoins Section.  ;)
So many gold haters within the cryptocommunity

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Altcoins future
« on: June 23, 2019, 06:58:53 PM »
What do you think about alts future? I strongly believe in Eth , because it provides solutions to different problems. Others only copy eth’s idea in order to raise some money. We don’t need 2000+ alts, just 10 and it will be enough. What u think?
As far as we are talking about the financial system as a whole, I think alts future belongs to Stablecoins.
Non-Stablecoins will remain interesting for speculative oriented investors and gamblers, but volatility prevents non-Stablecoins from being used as money on a large, institutional scale.
I keep quoting the passage below because it highlights three main areas for the deployment of Stablecoins

Reasons People Use Stablecoins

1. Exchanges: Cryptocurrency traders can reduce their exposure to Bitcoin by selling their Bitcoin for stablecoins. This allows traders to keep their wealth on an exchange without converting back into fiat. This is useful for two reasons. First, many exchanges take days to convert fiat into crypto, which means investors must wait to trade. Second, converting back into fiat means a tax bill is coming soon, since most exchange on- and off-ramps now require KYC-AML.

2. Inflation hedge: People in countries with high inflation and hyperinflation can hold on to stablecoins in order to preserve their savings. Bitcoin is too volatile for most people in Venezuela. Instead, they would prefer to hold onto cryptocurrencies backed by gold or Swiss francs.

3. Interbank settlement: Interbank settlement is a trillion-US dollar industry. Instead of giving away billions in revenue to Ripple, companies such as J.P. Morgan are releasing their own centralized stablecoins backed by fiat in order to settle transactions globally on a permissioned blockchain instead of legacy banking software.

Cryptocurrency is not able to replace real money. In relation to them, it will always be an auxiliary means of payment, since states will always protect the circulation of their national money. Cryptocurrency, at the same time, can and should successfully go along with the usual currency, and there may be various options and combinations of such walking.
I agree.
Furter, I guess, given the superiority of the blockchain technology, Govs will put their currency on the blockchain, so there will be a crypto$, a crypto€, a cryptoyuan etc.
Can we call blockchainised legal tenders "cryptocurrencies"?

Regulated cryptos will live along with national official currencies (legal tenders), sometimes supporting them, sometimes in competition with them.
Non-regulated cryptos or exchanges will play a marginal role.

These are the current members of the Libra Association.
Quite impressive. It's not only FB.
For example, every buyer on Ebay will have the option of paying through Paypal through Libra.
Lower fees than paying with fiat.
Libra is not a social media currency, used only within FB.
One can pay with Libra everywhere Visa and Mastercard are accepted, which means overall in the world.
This is a gigantic advantage vs. Gram and the other one, which will boost Libra's use enormously

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Facebook’s new cryptocurrency

The whole question is - will this cryptocurrency really be used?  That they will try to raise its price is yes, but
It is a Stablecoin, it is impossible for them to raise its price.
Its price is tied to a basket of bank deposits in the major currencies, and to short-term gov bonds.

If cryptos were destined to be used by the masses, that was only possible in form of a Stablecoin.
The daily use of money can't cope with volatility

Libra has a weakness.
One of the main reason for the success of cryptos was their being an alternative to national currencies, to fiat money.
Libra is backed by fiat money.
As soon as people lose confidence in what backs Libra, they'll lose confidence in Libra

885
and be backed by a reserve of assets ostensibly “designed to give it intrinsic value” and mitigate volatility fluctuations.

These assets consist of a basket of bank deposits and short-term government securities that will be held in the Libra Reserve for every Libra that is issued.
So, bank deposits (fiat money) and gov securities.
What happens if/when people lose confidence in the monetary authorities (Central Banks) and in the Govs?
This is Libra's weakness
