Steem - Steemit Forum / Re: Steem Less than a Dollar!
« on: October 20, 2018, 09:25:07 PM »
The benefit of Steem Dollars is that business can accept them more comfortably since they have a more stable value. Can you imagine being a shop owner and trying to sell your $50 product for STEEM which a couple months ago would have been for 500 Steem compared to today being less than 50. Pricing their products and services are much easier when using a stable value, as well as knowing that what they've already been paid, won't lose value.

EOS Forum / Re: EOS
« on: October 20, 2018, 09:19:31 PM »
The main native token, EOS, is a utility token that provides both bandwidth and storage on the blockchain, in proportion to total stake (owning 1% of EOS tokens allows for usage of up to 1% of the total available bandwidth). EOS tokens also allow the owner to cast votes and participate in the on-chain governance of the blockchain, again in proportion to the owner's stake.

STEEM Power is what gives you influence on Steemit. The more SP you have, the more money you give to authors with an upvote as well as the greater the curation rewards you can earn. There is a very small 'interest' rate earned by holding STEEM Power.

Ethereum Forum / Re: Bitcoin or Ethereum?

The bitcoin blockchain is a public ledger that records bitcoin transactions.[64] It is implemented as a chain of blocks, each block containing a hash of the previous block up to the genesis block of the chain. A network of communicating nodes running bitcoin software maintains the blockchain.[30]:215–219 Transactions of the form payer X sends Y bitcoins to payee Z are broadcast to this network using readily available software application.Ethereum is a decentralized platform that runs smart contracts: applications that run exactly as programmed without any possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud or third-party interference.

Cryptocurrency Price Speculations / Re: New price of ETH
« on: October 20, 2018, 09:09:31 PM »
The price of Ethereum is quoted in US Dollars (USD) and is updated immediately as each trade occurs. The price chart above is updated in 5 second intervals and data is recorded for the previous 10 minutes. All price updates are made in real-time and so there is no need to refresh the page to view the latest price of ETH.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Is Bitcoin a Digital Gold??
« on: October 20, 2018, 08:43:59 PM »
Over the centuries, gold has been considered as an object of value by many different groups of people all over the world. It’s important to note that gold in itself has no value - it’s just a piece of shiny metal. Its value comes from the (somewhat perplexing) fact that everyone just agreed that it has value, and therefore it becomes valuable. The reason they chose gold versus other objects is important - gold has certain characteristics that make it a better ‘store of value’ (as it is commonly known) than other objects

Bitcoin is a digital currency—or “cryptocurrency”—that allows online payments to be made directly from one party to another through a worldwide digital payment network, without the need for a central third-party intermediary such as a bank.Ether is a cryptocurrency whose blockchain is generated by the Ethereum platform. Ether can be transferred between accounts and used to compensate participant mining nodes for computations performed.Ethereum provides a decentralized Turing-complete virtual machine, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which can execute scripts using an international network of public nodes. Bitcoin Forum / Re: Is bitcoin risky?
« on: October 20, 2018, 08:38:08 PM »
“Bitcoin’s dramatic rise and fall has been driven primarily by supply and demand, not valuations,” Randy says. “Bitcoin doesn’t have earnings or revenues. It doesn’t have a price-to-earnings ratio, price-to-sales ratio or book value. Traditional value metrics simply don’t apply, so there are no current methods for assessing its value.”

This article is an examination into the historical and current use of money and how Bitcoin and/or other cryptocurrencies can fit into the the future of money. This is not a price-prediction piece, nor are the arguments implied as a guarantee of the future of cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Is bitcoin money?
« on: October 20, 2018, 08:32:29 PM »
Economists define money as a store of value, a medium of exchange, and a unit of account. According to The Economist in 2014, bitcoin functions best as a medium of exchange. However, this is debated, and a 2018 assessment by The Economist found that cryptocurrencies met none of these three criteria.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Will Dogecoin have a future?
« on: October 20, 2018, 08:29:52 PM »
I personally do not suggest investing in Dogecoin for the following reasons:The continued inflation is not good from an investment standpoint. There is a high chance that you will not get good returns on your investment.
The father of the project has left the cryptocurrency world for an undetermined period of time. This is not a bad thing in itself (the father of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, has been MIA for almost all of Bitcoin’s life), but Dogecoin has become directionless since his departure.
