Every election season, we here promises about leveling the playing field and then helping the average citizens. But somehow no matter which political party is in charge, the wealth gap just keeps growing massively. The richer just keeps getting more and more richer, and the poor more poorer.
It seems like the rich have found a way to win no matter what happens to the economy or who runs the government, meanwhile the rest of the poor masses are stuck dealing with her rising cost, stagnant wages, and debt just to survive.
Is this just a way that capitalism works? or are there deeper structures in place to protect the wealthy and keeps the system tilted.
Would love to hear your opinions on this. Is it fixable or that is just how the world works now?

Nigerian Languages / Re: What do you think about the minimum wage?
« on: April 16, 2025, 11:48:42 PM »
Minimum wage in Nigeria is mostly followed up by government/civil servants of the country. Majority of Private organizations, institutions or businesses does not adhere to this minimum wage policy. I feel it will only lead to loss of jobs when the workers decide to leave their place of work, as a private worker. All government workers will receive the increased minimum wage, but for private workers, you just need to maintain with the existing price or request for increase in wage, not requesting for equal amount as the government workers receive.

Most private organizations offer higher wages than the government minimum wage, this all depends on where one finds him/herself for survival.

It is only in Nigeria where the cost of living keeps increasing, and the minimum wage remains the same. Over the years, minimum wage has usually been implemented after a long showdown between the Labour Congress and the government. Then there are vibrant and incorruptible Labour Leaders who are ready to take the course, but these days, it is not as it used to be, as the majority of them are just after their pockets and do not give a damn thought about what happens.

The private institutions are primarily business-oriented and would not want to put themselves in a situation that would warrant them facing any difficult situation, hence them not giving in to minimum wages, and the government can not dictate for them what they should pay to their staff because they pay tax and by so doing they have the right to pay what they can  afford to their workers as they are a profit organisation.
Most NYSC corpers, were really happy when the the government implemented to your allowances the new minimum wage. They are not aware that they where just played. This i because they cannot even use the new minimum wage to achieve or do anything, coz the prices of things keeps increasing everyday, what you bought 5k today will turn 7k the following week, and so on it goes, like this I dey always fear go market, coz of how prices of things keep increasing, am tired coz our economy has gone to a place of no return,.

When launching a product, there is always that debate about whether you should focus on making that product better or spend more time and resources building the brand.
By branding,I mean everything about your logo, packaging, down to the way people around you feel whenever they hear about your product or services. Some of my friends Iconversed with believe that branding comes first before the product while others believes that you should worry about the branding after you have figured out how the product works.
As someone trying to build something from scratch, I am really torn on this issue. So what do you think guys, how early should one begin worrying a out his/her product's branding.

Economics , Sociology & Politics / Re: Spend wisely.
« on: April 16, 2025, 09:15:46 PM »
Money are made for spending but spend less and save more, spend for something lucrative and not just a materialistic things that brings no benefits or value to you, some people spend there money without planning, why some spend because people are spending, the future is far ahead that's why we spend less not to get broke in time to come.
One thing that I noticed about having a lot of money with you is that you will be prone to reckless spending, most especially if the money wasn't gotten with much stress,  if though it was gotten with much labour and stress the propensity to spend it anyhow, especially when one do not keep a monthly or daily spending record.
Extravagant lifestyle may seem fun at first but it is very bad, you are wasting resources that you are meant to keep and save for the future. Even God is against wastage.

Economics , Sociology & Politics / Re: Holiday Spending.
« on: April 16, 2025, 12:06:01 AM »
The holiday is usually a time where a lot of money is spent quickly out of budget because there is a popular saying that I’ve heard that December has no budget which means that budgeting in December is actually not useful, but I do not agree.

What plans have you made to ensure that you do not overspend in this holiday season??
Budgeting is a complete waste of time this is because during holiday season like Christmas, Easter and so on the prices of things will keep going up, what you bought at a low price today would have double up the next day. And this things are one of the necessities of life and one wi be left with no other option than to just buy it at that high price
Well for me not to overspend during holiday season like Christmas, I ensure that I get all my foodstuff before the Christmas season to avoid story that touches the heart

Nigerian Languages / Re: Unemployment in Nigeria
« on: April 15, 2025, 11:57:24 PM »
Omo the unemployment rate for Nigeria too much wetin sef joor , including a large youth population, a lack of job opportunities,  no investment in education and training. This country na where we dey go sef, Nigeria economy depends on oil and gas sector, wen dey hard for global sector. As no job so many people dey struggling to find work so them fit chop .you know any possible solution wen dey my people, from the past 8 years now we dey hear change change not even one improvement sef na hard the country don hard like this. Who put am for mission impossible?  Most time sef you go read some course sef no job for that course for the country example biochemistry no work person go graduate nothing come out you go still go back farming. This thing when dey happen now dey make many people no like go school again, them look education as trash now. The situation don make many responsible youth join arm robbery, kidnaping, yahoo, and many fraudulent activity so. Nothing our government don talk about this, everyday more people dey finish school no work even to increase salary na problem Nigeria as e dey so the wahala plenty. If you no go you no go know.
The issue of unemployment is really a disturbing and alarming situation in the country today, this has lead most youth into all sort of illicit and illegal activities all in the name of making money, sincerely speaking I don't entirely blame the youth the actual fault is from the government who are meant to provide jobs opportunities for its citizens, but has failed in that aspect, but when a citizen commits a crime, they are quick to arrest that individual all in the name of justice the reall injustice should be addressed which is providing job opportunities to the youths out there.
Even though the government doesn't provide jobs for the citizens doesn't give them the opportunity for them to engage in illegal behavior, citizens can create job opportunities for themselves by learning a skill or handwork which they can be able to secure enough money to take care of themselves. They have their mayes out there hustling and bustling just to earn a living. So let's stop blaming the government for everything the change to our life lies in our hands.
I agree with you, you will see someone with legs, hands eyes, nose etc. all the body parts are complete, but he or she still keeps blaming the government, My very own question is that what is actually stopping him or her from creating a job for themselves, you don't expect the government to provide me everything for you.  Let's all take action and make life better for ourselves and that of our family, there are a lot of lucrative skills out there that one can delve into and become financially stable

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about how Blockchain could change the game for small business owners.  It is not just about crypto anymore, there are talks about using it to verify product, make payment more secured and even building better customer loyalty systems.
Some believe it to be the best and a must-have in a couple of years, while other's sees it as more of a hype rather than help.
So what do you think guys is Blockchain something that small businesses should start paying attention to or it is still very early for most.
Well it depends on the business that is involved, For those in Logistics and Retail, Blockchain will be highly effective, especially for tracking goods  But for service based business, am not sure  it worth the hassle
right now due to the complexity that is involved. Let's face the obvious, Blockchain at the moment isn't user-friendly.
However sooner than expected I believe that people will start familiarizing themselves with this complexities and would start integrating it into their small scale businesses before we all know it.
