I think its not worth nowadays. I have participated in several airdrops, but i got few tokens from airdrop but it is too low value and most of airdrop result is not worth, even sometimes not pay the participant.

I think ethereum is good for investment compare to ripple, most of the ICO used ethereum platform as the token to invest while ripple is supported by modern technology but it is a centralized.

Altcoins follow bitcoin because bitcoin is the first digital currency. I  think cryptocurrency market are dependent on bitcoin, if the bitcoin price is down, other altcoins price goes down and if bitcoin price goes up other altcoin also goes up.
