The younger generations leaning more towards crypto instead of farming could end up having mixed effects with huge consequences though but on the other hand, crypto is opening up new financial opportunities and innovation and could do more, but our fear is if too many people move away from farming completely, it might harm the food supply and lead to higher prices.

We still need people in agriculture to keep food affordable and available. So, while crypto is exciting, completely ignoring sectors like farming could hurt the economy in the long run.

Balance and not just balance a healthy balance is part of life (personal, organizational and National). Improper balance of agric (every day human cannot do without me /food in the stomach) has affected economies historically even now, next generation wouldn't be any different..

. Government that cares about their populace can encourage young people into agriculture now and generation to come.. By investing into agriculture but not just a political move as it has been in countries that are suffering this in balance even without crypto business, so with increasing online dependence, food shortage and rocket prices will continue to be the outcome.

However the youths focus on the online environment and undermining of agriculture will affect mostly countries that are never ready to develop, countries that politicize every moment and movement..

There are many similar arguments for or against AI during the Industrial Revolution, especially about labor and gains in productivity. There are jobs that will certainly be affected by AI such as those involving routine tasks. Other jobs will evolve. Those that require creativity, emotional connection, and complex problem-solving will continue to be sought after. It is difficult to stop progress, even if it initially seems to be a bad thing. The best we can do is learn more about AI, find out how we can upskill, and adapt to living with AI.

Very important, noting the industrial revolution. Time and  seasons happens. At this time, ai has come like every other revolution which came and human is found still standing... It is about making the best out of ai, displacement will happen and has been part of work environment (out of bias and obvious facts).
That of ai displacement, some companies might regret laying off some staff as ai can't completely replace human at least for now. Also the need for quality and other human responds had make ai a second choice for some global giants. Much more ai contents are highly prohibited in some places.

General Discussion / Re: Lucid dreaming
« on: October 06, 2024, 10:55:52 PM »
Going lucid can be interesting but scary too, this depends on who. The mindset behind dreams and dreaming is also a big factor that determines if lucid dreams will happen. Being intentional and interestingly open minded to have lucid dreams can do wonders. This doesn't undermine other approaches.
Taking charge of that fear in the dream makes sense and helps too. Sometimes you won't even know that the discussion you are referring to was made in the dream because it was so comprehensive that you didn't even wake up, continued in it and arise from sleep freely without taking note that you had a dream

Not as if the world leaders are just watching. Maybe they are really just watching. But then it could be a thing of interest, having good relationships with any of the country might at times like this warrant silent talk. Not making the talk public. And when not in common relationships with any of the country, even a silent talk might raise a war much more when around their territory. It is a pity

Posts are made for various reasons. To give incomplete but reasonable categories.
1.to educate
2.to be educated
This doesn't undermine many other reasons of making a post.
Let's take no. 2 above for example. When a post is made with the expectation of being helped by others through their replies, it makes sense for their to be a notification of replies to that topic.
(except the starter did not on it)

And I think it should apply to the reply section also (where it becomes really optional to get notifications on reply made on other people's topic).
And then notification when quoted by others
I don't know how best to communicate my points. But I am just rolling around notifications (anywhere and anyway that notification appears necessary)
Altogether I believe it will help.

Hi!

I've been using Upwork as well for a long now, in fact, that was the platform where I landed my first job as a CSR, it offers a wide range of work to those who want to work online, tho during these days, the competition is very tough from the skilled workers to the pricey connects. But from the easy work of data entry to the hardest task it is available their so yah I agree to what you said that it should be aligned with the skills.

since covid i guess more people wanted to stay at home and just work online. but i don't see upwork good for newbies anymore too due to competition and the fee they deduct from freelancers is 20% also. it seem to big for someone who wants to make a living.

with such fee, you will need to ask more from the clients yet asking mo0re from the clients will not get you a job as well.
i started as researcher for web directories and few wiki sites back when Upwork was Odesk.  ;D

The competition is something else. Not just newbies to the skill, even being new to Upwork with excellent experience from other platforms, it's still abottleneck of getting a client.
Just imagine how saturated Upwork is in probably all the services it offers. Take writing for instance, for me it is just a matter of trying if not it's just a no go area. As a starter!

I was wondering, which side of a business do you consider the hardest—the start-up or keeping the business going?

In start-ups, you have no customers, and your first task is trying to win customers for your business. To keep the business going, you have to keep the customers you have. Which is more difficult?
Start up should be the most difficult because to get the customers is the first thing and you need to make your price look attractive. Also the area where the business is located matters alot too, because if it  is in a busy environment, definitely you will get the customers. Keeping them is easy to me, because you need to have a good customer relationship with them so that they will be the one to tell you where you are lacking behind for you to improve.

You are completely right, that is where majority of entrepreneurs are lacking, they think once they have the money to start up a business, they will start having customers and making sales, forgetting Rome wasn't built in a day, it takes time before they can actualizing their dreams on how the business will be, so just as you said, they will have to make things easier and affordable for people and to also attract more customers by not selling their goods costly and also location really matters in a business, it determines on how the business will turn out to be,. So choosing a right location for a particular business is also good but most people don't know that and some people find it hard to locate a good place suitable for a business to hold.

conjunction to all the above. I think starting up a business in the first place is harder, in as much as both start-up and up keep is hard.
The stress behind starting up a business starts even before starting the business. Except proper planning is not done where a business is lunched anywhere. Doing all the possible business analysis, starting and then trying to get customers are all around startup which appears hardest than keeping the customers you have already.

Where keeping customers are usually a serious problem is in boom babies that started and business begin to flourish. By such,
Most business owners finally forget the importance of customers out of pride and arrogance. At times like this, some customers will only patronize based on monopoly.

I don't think it will die soon, because it has helped a lot of people in the society today, it has promoted online jobs , like freelance, which enable people to work online and earn money. One of the sweetest thing in our society now us to be earning online, because there are no much physical labours required.
I think Fiver is good.

At least they will be alive even a decade or more from now, with completions they always level up. However I have ma reservations. Although there can be different stories but when a particular story is in multiples then it becomes somewhat an obvious fact . With the quest to earn online, fiverr like every big brand freelance platform is usually not favorable for or to beginners. Even when you are more professional than existing service providers.

Nigerian Languages / Re: Unemployment in Nigeria
« on: September 29, 2024, 05:14:54 PM »
Unemployment remains a significant challenge facing Nigeria with a steadily increasing rate over the years This country's economy has struggled to create jobs, leading to a growing number of Nigerians without employment.

The causes of unemployment in Nigeria are complex and mostly economic based. The economy's over-reliance on oil exports has actually made the government unable to consider other sectors while inadequate education and skills training have left many Nigerians unprepared and actually without jobs. Corruption and poor governance have also contributed to the issue, as has the country's infrastructure and economy depreciate and insecurity in some regions.

No be small, unemployment is like bazooka gun. Just bombing tirelessly.
Even this over reliance on liquid black gold, just go many or all oil regions and see the poverty. Collect lands and leave commotion with suffering.
To say, over reliance on crude oil no good but the revenue from oil how them dey use am self.

Off topic & Sports / Re: Is living an unhealthy lifestyle expensive?
« on: September 29, 2024, 04:50:06 PM »

Unhealthy lifestyle is directly equal to unhealthy life... On the long run or nearest tomorrow, the body will begin to announce the result of unhealthy lifestyle at that point I believe visiting places never visited for years or places never thought of visiting will begin and also spending more than expected, sometimes even more than earning which will then require borrowing.. Because health first, it's wealth and now it's require or needed..

Nigerian Languages / Re: Passive income
« on: September 29, 2024, 04:28:02 PM »
As a student don't follow the trend rather follow your likes and eases genuinely and learn a skill and most importantly make sure to become a professional in that field. However to be able to keep up with good grades, it's better to make sure that your skill is an online skill just to make sure it's far more flexible for you to manage. Offline skills are nice too if you become a professional however an online counterpart would offer a wider audience and more flexible working hours which is exactly what you need as a student.

Things like running an E shop, drop shipping and some nice investments are good examples of obvious sources of passive income. The whole internet is is broad and being professional at a skill is most important.

That's very true considering the fact that offline skills require your time abd attention which you can not afford to give because you are a student
Well what do you think about getting a partime job atleast that will fetch us something and doesn't necessarily take up all of our time

Offline skills although depending on the particular one can be leveraged. Maybe as a higher level student. This can be with the understanding of the teacher likewise getting a part time job. But wait ooooh see e depend on the possibility of part time job because e no too dey common I think.
Then with all the offline possibilities, online can also be fully integrated. Ranging from graphic design, marketing to even writing and so on... Online fit even go along side with schooling, part time jobs or skill acquisition but it depends anyways on resolving the challenges behind online business /jobs.. Which is getting a direct connect or guidance not just trial by errors..

Nigerian Languages / Re: Benefits of education in our country

- in our current society school is obviously a scam but you cannot take away the fact that education still remains as relevant as it has always been.

We shouldn’t confuse education for school and school for education - in other economy they both might be of equal importance but here in Nigeria the are not and education is way more important than going to school - you can go to school and still end up not being educated (we have several people in our community or oven our close friends that were schooled but not educated).

The current bastardized state of the academic institutions of our 9ja doesn't make school a scam.. In ma opinion.

Also that we should not confuse education for school and school for education...

I think it should rather be
We should not confuse education with school and school with education.
 Reason being that
1. They both has some kind of relationship (see no 2 below)
2. schools are built for special education (e.g biochemistry) and general social education (behavior/conduct etc) (as in other general education or basic all human education).
3.

School and Education are different things - in our current society school is obviously a scam but you cannot take away the fact that education still remains as relevant as it has always been.

Even those that claimed not to have gone to school and are doing well, if you look at them properly you’ll noticed that they are educated enough in that aspect of what’s making them successful and that’s why they are able to do that thing.

We shouldn’t confuse education for school and school for education - in other economy they both might be of equal importance but here in Nigeria the are not and education is way more important than going to school - you can go to school and still end up not being educated (we have several people in our community or oven our close friends that were schooled but not educated).

Ooo yes.
There is a saying that education takes place even in the kitchen. As for schooling /school is meant to be a place of specialized education, also not to forget character education (that is why certification would say worthy in character and learning).
However, most of our schools (high institutions) today are some thing else.

Very very true there is a difference between school and education in our country
The current school system especially the high institutions(University) is not actually based on intelligence that is why we have uneducated graduates

This is but hitting the nail on the head. That is so true and nothing but the truth.
Even when you are asked to explain something you better not try from intuition, word to word is the best answer for majority of lecturer (say 90-95%). Making it a painful experience and schools becoming a dead affair because creativity is the driving force of development and creativity is currently dying or even dead in schools.

Economics , Sociology & Politics / Re: A traitor to yourself
« on: September 27, 2024, 12:35:27 AM »
Have you ever tried to deceive yourself? Deceiving ourselves is always possible and I'm pretty sure most of us did it to ourselves. Do you consider yourself as traitor when you're not acting the right way for your own benefit?

The truth is most people are afraid to face reality and making some hard decisions, so they just do what they think will be easier knowing fully well that they are deceiving their self.
Most times we make hard choices for our own good but at times we just keep what is necessary aside, because of what is involved and do what will make us regret later.
I can't say I am a traitor to my self but sometimes I blame my self for taking wrong decisions.
Try and face the reality no matter what it may cost, thats life so stop deceiving your self.
Just as you said, it has already become a custom for some people to enjoy being a traitor to themselves and other by following or allowing what seems easy but actually the problem . Telling fat lies to get out of trouble and get others into trouble. When on the real sense they are just running in the helpless circles they create.

Personally, I had deceived myself with some decisions and indecisiveness which cause some kind had I know. The game changer is to tell oneself every simple truth, embrace it and see the joy it brings..
Funny enough, some don't even know when they are fatally undoing themselves, lying to yourself and not knowing it. I guess this is the worst self traitorship.
