DeFi tokens / What is the appeal for Layer 2 projects.
« on: December 06, 2024, 04:32:13 PM »
This is something I've been looking at for a while now, but it looks like the market for L2 networks is getting a lot of numbers, because that's the only explanation I can give for the amount of L2 projects looking to solve issues like high gas fees or slower transactions speeds on traditional blockchains like Ethereum.

Well, at least that's what the whitepaper for projects like Movement labs (MOVE) or even any other L2 project says when you read them.

I've also seen a lot of people talk about getting tokens either through the pre-market or when it lists. There must be something in it for these guys.

I don't think anyone knows for sure, but what I'd say is that with Trump's victory people are a lot more optimistic about crypto because of how vocal Trump has been about his support for crypto.

Going by this, I'd lean towards a positive effect.

Personally I'm glad that BTC is doing so well that they can no longer ignore it, especially as an asset class. I think the important thing here is understanding that we should not be quick to dismiss rising trends, innovations or ideas.

You can be cautious, but not dismissive, at least till you get a good understanding of what it's about.

Meme Coins / How do you identify a memecoin?
« on: November 27, 2024, 08:48:58 PM »
If it wasn't obvious before, I think it's now become very clear, that memecoins are the new trend, with a lot of the ones from Solana doing insane numbers.

That said, I noticed that I now struggle with placing projects, take projects like GOAT for example, it's obviously a memecoin, but it's also one of those mini games on TG which makes it a gaming project as well.
Can projects like these still tap into the meme hype now?

How sustainable are stuffs like this, considering BTC is not a stable coin?

The Trump train keeps on moving. Let's see how it goes with the SEC.

Meme Coins / Re: Waiting for any of your fav memecoin to pump?
« on: November 26, 2024, 03:55:38 PM »
It's all the same with memecoin, they mostly depend on hype, exposure and momentum. To be honest, among the ones that you have mentioned, there's only one that can really have profit potentials.

What I mean is that DOGE and PNUT have really done well and I think if you're getting in now, you're pretty late, Cheems is a bit dicey because the price is down now, but they usually say that's the best time to accumulate.

With memecoins I'm just extra careful and I try not to be greedy.

A lot of people have admitted this to be honest, and in hindsight not engaging with crypto looks a bad decision, but I'd like to play the devil's advocate and say that it's not that crazy for someone from that space (Banking) to be skeptical about crypto.

Going by everything they know or have learnt, investing in crypto doesn't look like a smart decision, especially when you consider some of the limitations we have with crypto.

That said, I hope this is just the beginning for crypto, we're still a long way out if mass adoption is he goal, although there is a lot of progress.

News related to Crypto / Re: Gary Gensler will resign on Jan 20 - 2025
« on: November 25, 2024, 07:44:24 AM »
I am almost sure I came across something on this platform that mentioned ensuring Gary stepped down was one of Trump's 10 promise directed at Crypto when he was doing his campaign.

For a while now, certainly in the last 3-4 months I've come across articles online mentioning some concerns with wrapped tokens in general, and I still can't speak to the validity of those claims, I just thought it was something to keep in mind.

That said, considering they now have their own version, it would not be an insane conclusion if you think they're kicking out the competition, it's the "smart" thing to do.

NFTs & Collectibles / What are the best options for NFT craetors?
« on: November 24, 2024, 02:34:44 AM »
As someone that it is art inclined and also a big fan of crypto and web3, I really appreciate the concept of NFTs, but for a while now it has looked like it's not something I can count on all the time.

It also doesn't help that I strugle with finding them across different chains. Although for this, I think a platform that has multi-chain support would easily solve this.

Magic Eden might be a good one, but I feel like a lot of people know it mostly for it's token (ME)

So in the end my major issue is how to time my engagements with NFTs to perfection, and also finding platforms that can help if I want to create my own NFTs.

I'm still not sure where I stand on the issue of Trump and crypto. I'm excited about the current market conditions, and it's not a coincidence that the market got a bug boost after he was announced to have won the election.

The issue I have with the current development is that we're making it seem as though Trump is the number one factor for how BTC and Crypto moves which is totally wrong, because there are alot of factors that influences the market.

People now look at the news surrounding Trump as a determinant for when to enter the market, I know this because I've been in a lot of conversations pre and post Trump win where the the focus is on the results of what Trump does or say especially when it's crypto related.

14
In the time I've spent here, I realised that people like to exaggerate a lot, when the price is doing well, it's utopia, and when we get some retracements, it's dooms day, and "the end of crypto as we know it"

There's a lot of excitement now, which is understandable because of the price action of BTC, but I think it's important that we don't too excited and understand that a retracement would eventually happen because that's how the market works.

I just hope when it does happen, people don't start spreading doomsday news, like history have shown that they always do.

15
I'm a big fan of Butcoin and crypto in general, but I've learnt not to get overly excited with predictions like these, because no one really knows for sure if this would happen.

A lot of things can change within that time, and the world of finance might have even changed completeley, that said, I'm very optimistic about BTC and I hope it continues to do well. It's just important that we don't get ahead of ourselves.
