Those last words left me cold: "There's more work to do on DoS, but I'm doing a quick build of what I have so far in case it's needed, before venturing into more complex ideas.  The build for this is version 0.3.19."

I think it was his intension to ghost himself after all, seeing the word "but I'm doing a quick build of what I have so far in case it's needed". It's just like when a parent leaves all the neccesary food items for their kids before embarking on a journey.
He has indeed left a good work behind.

When Satoshi was around there was no bitcointalk.org but fourm. bitcoin.org Then the Bitcoin forum was moved to the new link and separated from bitcoin.org a year later. The new forum was named bitcointalk.org.
And the last day was not Dec. 12, 2010, but Satoshi edited his post the next day and did not appear again.

Yeah, in real Satoshi was never part of Bitcointalk.org because in Satoshi's era there was no Bitcointalk domain name but a forum hosted on a sub-domain of Bitcoin.org which was named as forum.bitcoin.org and it was transferred to Bitcointalk.org and there was little to no change in the forum's UI.

Unfortunately, I wasn't part of the forum back then but anyone can check the forum on way back machine. Theymos worked a lot on that forum and due to his efforts the forum is still a great place for crypto-enthusiasts. Satoshi used to write on the Bitcoin.org's forum and his posts were imported successfully on Bitcointalk. Satoshi gave us Bitcoin and now we all have to think like him to improve it in anyway we can.

Thanks for shedding more light on this. I had thought Satoshi extensively used the Bitcointalk site.

You're most welcome and it's a pleasure for me to be helpful for someone. Yeah, I also thought that years ago but after doing some research I learned that Satoshi wasn't actually part of Bitcointalk, and I also tried to read some old articles of the forum when it was hosted on the Bitcoin.org and learnt some good information from that. I must say that WayBack machine is a quite helpful tool because it can show you what happened in a site years ago.

At first all the talk was on sourceforge and then the name bitcoin.org was suggested by Sirius, a.k.a. Martti Malmi, where the domain was purchased and discussions were made on the forum at forum.bitcoin.org. Later, bitcointalk was proposed and discussions were moved to it, provided that the wallet codes remained at bitcoin.org.

The core wallet code was in sourceforge in Bitcoin version 0.2 and from there it was moved to bitcoin.org.
