ELI5: What does good project even mean?
« on: January 26, 2024, 02:31:11 PM »
In case you don't know ELI5 means Explain like I'm 5 (years old)

Of course, I'm not five, despite being new here I'm still quite old on the other forum  and to be completely honest, after 10 years in crypto I still have no clue what the hell a "good project". This whole "good project" stuff was labeled as meme material most users were making their quota or shilling some ICO by almost talking doge with 1 liners of "good project", "nice team", "great stuff",  and to be honest is really weird seeing all this again them especially in some weird instances.

So, here I was , browsing the dogecoin forum and a ton of users are saying, no dogecoin is meme coin it doesn't have a "good project"
Like, for real?

Why would you need this damn "good project" when you have a coin that surpassed bitcoin and eth in number of transactions a day, has one of the largest communities, is used on all exchnges, accepted in most casinos and betting websites, 1/4 of every BATM is also selling dogecoins, usage is outshining every other coin that is not in top10 by marketcap, so why would you claim it's bad because it has no "good project".

What is this "good project" ?  Can someone describe to me a good project from 2013? A good project from 2017?
And what was so good about the vaporware on a whitepaper that in 99.9% ended in the trashcan of history?
Of course I have a biased view on things, I'm a bitcoin maximalist, so I look down on altcoins but still, I don't understand how can you take a dump on the potential of already proven coins based on the promises of wanna be nothing proven yet no name coins with 20 transactions day!

So, without making this any longer, eager to hear those "good projects" from the past. Cause hyped good projects, the graveyard of crypto is full of them:

Nice question!

First of all, I think a 5-year-old child does not need to invest money to make profit then buy milk or cakes, so we do not need and cannot clearly explain investment to that child.

It seems that people lack clarity when talking about a good project, they often don't talk about what aspect it is good in or for what purpose.

There are many good projects in terms of fundamental analysis: reputable backers, lots of money in fund, professional team, reasonable tokenomics, useful solutions, large potential user...

There are other projects that are good in terms of technical analysis: the token price has accumulated or is growing well, promising high profits.

In the end, we (allmost) just want to seek profits from the market, so most just want to hear about a good project to invest in and generate profits from token price increases. I won't talk about good projects to SHORT!

The increase in token price depends on many factors: both fundamental analysis and technical analysis. Memecoins just need marketing-related FOMO to be x10 or x100, while many good technological projects as EOS or NEO have been almost forgotten.

The increase in token price depends on many factors: both fundamental analysis and technical analysis. Memecoins just need marketing-related FOMO to be x10 or x100, while many good technological projects as EOS or NEO have been almost forgotten.

But, and this is what I'm trying to point out, doesn't a meme coin stop being a meme coin when you a have a billion company like Newegg accepting dogecoin and shiba but not "good projects" like Avalanche or Tron or a thousands others? If Bitpay which is one for the biggest if not biggest payment processor has a list like this:
https://support.bitpay.com/hc/en-us/articles/203411543-What-currencies-can-I-use-to-pay-a-BitPay-invoice

Quote
We support payment in the following cryptocurrencies:

- Bitcoin (BTC: on-chain, off-chain with Coinbase, and Lightning)
- Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
- Ethereum (ETH)
- Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC)
- Dogecoin (DOGE)
- Litecoin (LTC)
- Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB)
- Apecoin (APE)
- 5 USD-pegged stablecoins (GUSD, USDC, USDP, DAI, and BUSD)
- Euro Coin (EUROC) I A Euro-Backed Stablecoin
- Polygon (MATIC)

or the other big one , Coingate:
https://coingate.com/supported-currencies
They support 70+ for payments for the other action the list is cut short to:
Quote
Bitcoin/Litecoin/Ethereum/Bitcoin Cash/XRP/Dai/Dogecoin/Tether

Which one is the meme coin and which one is the vaporware full of promised and no real life usage?
That's the thing, the meme coin that got adoption, got usage, it's accepted everywhere, it stopped being a meme, the "good project" on the other hand ended as "bad project".

There are many good projects in terms of fundamental analysis: reputable backers, lots of money in fund, professional team, reasonable tokenomics, useful solutions, large potential user... .

Yup, Theranos Inc!  ;)
