There is no spirit that governs gambling. As you have mentioned, it is one addiction that drives gamblers to wager more than they would ever want to.
Everywhere man is entitled to their own opinion, talking about spirit controlling gamblers. By my own theology everything done on this earth is control by a spirit whether positive or negative spirit, mostly gambling or gamblers are controlled by a strong negative spirit for example I know of a gambler within my area who left his house driving himself to the place we're he gamble's finish his money bet his car, lost it to betting and return back with a commercial vehicle that's to tell you he is under the influence of a strong negative spirit, that's my opinion.
This is a case of addiction. When a gambler is addicted he exhibits behaviour that is not considered normal. The person in question has an impulse disorder so it became difficult for him to stop gambling when he should. What happened to him is common to all addicted gamblers. I have seen even worse cases.
