This phenomenon isn't unique to Christmas; it also occurs during Muslim festivals like Eid-al-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha.

During Ramadan, as the fasting period begins, prices rise sharply. Marketers capitalize on the demand, knowing that people will purchase goods regardless of the cost. Since festivals are a time for spiritual reflection and celebration, I believe marketers should fear God and maintain fair prices, making commodities affordable for everyone. This would allow people to celebrate with joy, without financial burden.
