Altcoins defying market downtrend this year

2024 was themed as the Year of the Bull, and after an initially promising price trend for BTC, we've unfortunately seen a downward spiral in momentum for both BTC and ETH. However, despite the negative price trend, some well-equipped coins have been performing well, outpacing most alts, including BTC and ETH.

Memecoins like WIF, POPCAT, and MEW are examples of these. Additionally, exchange tokens like BGB have also done well. This has led me to look for similar specifications in other alts to hold. I received BWB airdrop, and since then, I've been adding it to my portfolio due to the perks it offers holders, such as the ability to participate in Launchpools etc. most recently, there's a new innovation though: holders like myself can stake BWB and get up to 10% APR, which I think is decent given the current market situation.

What tokens are you all holding, and how have they been performing?

Although these coin increased so significantly, but all if them fell in price than bitcoin.

Just be careful of these coins. When their fall will begin, it would be a huge loss. Popcat that increased to $1, recently decreased to $0.2518. But people later bought it back and now at $5.7. A time will come that such coins will be dumped for new coins. I do not know how the downtrend of these coins would be but it is not going to be easy while people are losing money.

I am not holding any altcoins right now because we have experience another alt season since last year to this year.

I don't think BGB offers anything new, so while it performs well this year the past shows that it's very likely to follow BTC/ETH movement when they hype dies down just like what happened with others tokens in general. I don't think memecoins are an exception to this. There's no way to sustain the hype unless someone like to burn their money IMO. That being said, I still hold some altcoins from airdrop like DYDX, although I missed a good time to sell them this year. I'd sell them asap especially if we don't see any improvement near the end of the year.

I remember the run DYDX had to $15 couple some years back. Since then, it has failed to replicate such success. I took your suggestions of researching about exchange and wallet based coins and I discovered that BWB offers some cool perks to holders. Additionally holders can also stake and earn cool APYs.

What tokens are you all holding, and how have they been performing?

I can't agree with your opinion that altcoin defying the market downtrend this year. Because you can see what is the senairo right now to the bitcoin market and as well the altcoin market.
For for now I don't want to invest on any token I want to invest on coins like ton coin, Etherium coin, BnB coin, I have already invested in polygon matic coin these are my plan for now and I have also a strategy of holding bitcoin for long-term I feel safe on those coins instead of trusting the others tokens.

I always consider that any analysis of any Alts is valid in the percentage of gain (or losses, the most common) in the comparison of its equivalents, if you mention memecoin, stay there, it is the niche to compare.

As a cryptocurrency investor, it is a great idea to keep all your assets in cash if you want to minimize your risk portfolio by investing in government securities and other minimal risk options. Some meme coin is getting good hype in the current context especially after the success of dogs coin. But meme coin is always dangerous for long time investment.
