How can the government discover I own BTC, let's say I'm from Venezuela where crypto is banned, what they can do to discover and arrest me?

Tracing BTC is not that much easy. But if you don't careful to be safe at that time you may be caught. Some reason like:

- If you do large transaction with your local exchange,

- If any close one knows your bitcoin address.

- Also, the government can trace you by your IP address.

So, it is always safe to use VPN and also have to be careful.

Bitcoin transactions are anonymous. As long as you don't reveal your identity, no one know you are a bitcoin holder.
For this purpose you have to buy bitcoin peer to peer from a person you trust. Never use exchanges that force you to verify your identity.

You're safe so long as no one can link your bitcoin address to you.  If they can link your wallet to your name, they can see every single thing you've ever done with that wallet.

It's hard for the government to trace anyoe holding btc in their country. We ate decentralized no one gives idea or information on crypto holder. Do not panic and just do a minimal transaction so you can't be detrcted.

If you are registered to a platform that requires KYC and it is licensed by the government then consider yourself known that you have that much amount of coin. Just make some minimal transactions in that platform so that you will not get the attention of the authorities if you are transacting large amount of money because it will alert them.
