Trump starts 25% tariff. On car Imports

My lease ends July 27 August.

Maybe this tariff will end sooner.

Toyota cars are still inexpensive even if there is 25% tariff on it. I think Americans will still prefer them than Tesla unless they will really make the people buy EVs to which if Elon has something to do with this then his Tesla is about to benefit all these.

That 25% will be money to be paid by the end user still. Maybe the demand for 2nd hand cars will rise soon.

There won't be any changes. Government just make 25% more as taxes while the users has to pay more in the name of patriotism.

If Trump really wants to people to use the American cars alone then he should have increased the tarriff to 100 or even 200% then no one will dare to import and just go for the American brand.

Right That would also mean US has to locally produce/manufacture what they usually import from other countries. They will probably do well not importing but their exports could be affected as well. We also don't know how long that patriotism would hold

Governments will retaliate for this tarriff hike, I can see some of them are talking in the media but this is not going to bring any changes, the people will be affected with all these economic wars between the government.

As you said what will be the move by Trump when government do the same for exports from US.

I have a Hyundai sonata hybrid 29 months on the lease.  I like the Car as it gets really good gas mileage if you practice coasting the car a lot. I can get it to do 48-52 mpg or 78-80 kpg. although if you are in Europe do you use kpl or kpg or mpg.
