Before quantum computer becomes a threat to BTC, we would have safely moved to an algorithm that is resistant to the threat. However, the threat of quantum computers is not only with BTC, there are a lot of systems that would be under threat, so people should not make it seem like a 'BTC problem' only.

Well, if someone can break SHA-256 right now, we don't need to worry too much about BTC future because we will have many more concerns then. Bank accounts, national security, data security... will be the first things attacked and cause extremely large damages, not stopping at the marketcap of BTC.

Currently, many new encryption algorithms have been developed and they are quantum-resistant, so we can rest assured and focus on investing. We have already had AI-trend, so quantum-trend can completely explode in the future and the crypto market will also have many more projects in this field. We should think about being ready to profit from the quantum-trend in the future instead of worrying uselessly about the risk from it ^^

The point is that we are a long way away from quantum computers being a threat, and before then there would already be a solution to it.

Yeah i know we are in a crypto forum and it makes sense why we are discussing about QC becoming a threat to BTC, however, i don't just don't like it when some people wrongly think that it is BTC's problem only, so it is good to correct those who do not know.

I think there shall be anti quantum computer knowledge when get to that stage that will defend Bitcoin encryption algorithms.
However, the news about quantum computer might have been blown above proportions, and i think quantum computer may be beneficial to Bitcoin ecosystem at the long run despite the much hypes and drawbacks. Let just keep our fingers crossed to see how it goes in the future
