For instance, A global Mod can have the rights to all boards in the forum, unlike a local board mod, and stuffs like that.

Again, you conclude wrongly - in order to be able to add a custom title, you have to pay 1.1 ETH minimum for the Donor rank, which at the current price is roughly around $2000. I won't say whether it's a good or bad deal, because there are people who can afford it and who want a custom title.

In addition, for that rank you get an extra 500 +karma and other benefits, so for some the ratio invested - received justifies the price.

Not entirely true, you will also be surprised now if I give an example if there is a regular member who gets a Custom Title.
