据bitcoinist消息，一项新发布的研究表明，随着比特币被交易和开采，大量电力也被消耗殆尽，这些消费习惯可能会产生过量的碳排放，从而影响全球气候变化。

该研究还表明，随着各国继续努力履行减缓气候变化的义务，这种能源消耗可能最终会成为一个问题。斯坦福大学讲师Jonathan Koomey指出：“现在还没有足够的信息能够让我们知道数字货币挖掘到底会使用多少能源。”
