Why does altcoin prefer staking and masternode than ICO?

ICO is It means that someone offers investors some units of a new cryptocurrency or crypto-token in exchange against cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum.
but after the dashcoin did masternode, many other coins also started following it, like PIVX, dogecash, zcoin etc, but not only masternode, it turned out that staking was also made an option after masternode.
if I see it, staking and masternode are used as an option so that later can minimize Dumb,
