Binance stops serving users in Belarus.
« on: November 30, 2018, 03:45:54 PM »
The largest crypto-exchange Binance has informed Belarusian clients that its services of The company will no longer be available in their country, as well as for residents of other sanctions countries, such as Iran and Zimbabwe.

Belarusians will lose access to the global exchange

Binance has not yet specifically announced when the restrictions will take effect. However, the exchange notes that they are related to the latest update in the Terms of use (MI) and encourages Belarusians to familiarize themselves with these changes.

In the "no use" section of the TOU page, the exchange explains that by accessing and using any of its services, customers acknowledge and declare that they are not included in any commercial or economic sanctions lists, such as the UN Security Council and the office of foreign assets control of the United States Treasury Office (OFAC).

Binance reports that the company " reserves the right to choose its markets and jurisdictions to operate and may restrict or refuse its services to certain countries." The exchange also insists that "prohibited users should not use or attempt to access Binance and any of The company's services" and reserves the right to change the terms of its user agreement at any time and at its sole discretion.

The announcement came soon after Binance imposed restrictions on users from other countries under Western sanctions. In November, several global exchanges, including Binance, cut ties with Iran, members of the local cryptocurrency community reported. Zimbabwean users were also informed that the exchange was unable to provide services in the country and were asked to withdraw their funds.

Gleb Kostarev, a representative of Binance in the Russian Federation, confirmed the authenticity of the announcement, and he also noted that the new restrictions will not affect the residents of Russia. But the different treatment of the two countries raises questions about the rationale for the decision.

Both countries are members of the Eurasian economic Union, which forms a common market. They are also subject to us sanctions. But while Washington is constantly expanding its measures against Russia, over the past three years assistance has been provided to nine large Belarusian companies. In October, the OFAC extended the ban for another year. This step is part of a policy aimed at promoting reforms in the country, which is a traditional ally of Moscow.

There are more options

Fortunately, other options for buying and exchanging cryptocurrencies remain available for the residents of Belarus. For example, Best Change lists dozens of verified online exchanges where crypto-enthusiasts can acquire and trade digital currencies regardless of sanctions imposed by foreign powers or bans imposed on the governments of their country of residence. For Belarusians who want to exchange their coins, p2p platforms such as Localbitcoins and Crexby are also available.

Many platforms support popular payment methods such as Qiwi and Yandex Money, but credit / debit card purchases are also possible. Belarusians can order prepaid MasterCard From Belarusbank, the country's leading commercial Bank. Carte Blanche card supports deposits in four currencies - Belarusian rubles, Russian rubles, Euro and us dollars. The Fiat funds can then be used to purchase digital assets on any of the platforms that support this payment method.
