The number of crypto-ATMs installed worldwide has exceeded the mark of 4'000, and 4.9 new machines are installed daily, according to the data of the aggregator of industry statistics Coin ATM Radar on January 10.

Of the total of 4,167 crypto-ATMs worldwide, 71.8 per cent are located in North America - 56 per cent in the United States and 15 per cent in Canada - 23 per cent in Europe and 2.6 per cent in Asia. 1.3 and 1.1 per cent are in Oceania and South America, respectively, and only 0.2 per cent are in Africa.

In Asia, Hong Kong has the lion's share of ATMs-accounting for 0.8 percent of ATMs worldwide-while in Europe it is Austria (6.4 percent), followed by the UK (4.8 percent).

According to data, the number of crypto-ATMs in the United States has increased from 1'216 on January 1, 2018 to 2'475 to date. In California, the largest number of cars - only 473 cars, and then in Illinois-250.

While the vast majority of 4'167 crypto ATMs worldwide support bitcoin (BTC)-99.9 percent, or 4'162 - 64.6 percent support one or more altcoins.

In the interest sootnoshenii, crypto ATMs Althingi, 59,5% support Litecoin (LTC), 49.3% of support Ethereum (ETH) and 33.9% support Bitcoin Cash (BCH). Dash (DASH) is supported by 17.9% of ATMs, while Monero (XMR), Dogecoin (DOGE) and ZCash (ZEC) are supported by 3% or less.

Obviously, there is no India in the global ATM Coin Radar statistics. As reported in November last year, the developers of the country's first bitcoin ATM were arrested in the city of Bangalore on charges of committing a criminal offense because of the label "ATM", because the machine was not just an ATM, but a device designed to provide users with cryptocurrency.

The arrests occurred after the spring of 2018, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) banned banks from operations with firms associated with cryptocurrency.

Earlier this month, bitcoin ATM manufacturer Lamassu moved to Switzerland due to regulatory difficulties in other countries. Lamassu announced that its application for account opening has been rejected by 15 banks, since the company manufactures terminals for bitcoin, although the company is not involved in the sale or storage of cryptocurrencies.
