Despite wide recognition of Ethereum smart contracts and DApps, there is one area that does not have decentralized and authoritative platform — the area of definition and verification of locations. But now with the XYO network, it can become a part of the past.
What is XYO.Network?
“The most ambitious platform in recent history” as it is said in official site, XYO.Network is based on unique cryptographic mechanisms — Proof of Origin (or Location-Proof) and Bound Witness. And through this mechanisms they will be able to link blockchain with the real world. Starting in 2012 (when the Californian company XYO Network was founded) they released a million of GPS and Bluetooth devices, which now form a large network around the world.
Confirmation of geolocation is performed by the system, which includes four elements:
Sentinels, which compiles real-world location data (the exact time of finding the object in a certain place), self-develops and bonds Proof of Origin to the nodes above them.
Bridges, which collect the required information from the sentinels and attach their Proof of Origin to their string.
Archivists, which are decentralized data bases to store and catalog the data gotten from the bridges.
Diviners, which collect information from the archivists and use it in answering queries or verifying location. This requires large computational resources, so the system will be connected to the miners, which work with the standard Proof of Work.
Via the XYO Network’s Web App, users can instantly submit queries to the XYO Network by specifying the public address of the object they wish to track (such as vehicle, package, luggage).
For example, when a user makes a request to find out whether the order was transferred to the client or not, he receives an accurate information provided by The Network.
