Giving Eth To Receive Eth Scam.
« on: July 05, 2018, 06:24:16 AM »
I am sure everyone who is into cryptocurrency will come across this "giving Eth to receive Eth" scam at least once when participating in a bounty campaign or doing research about a certain coin.

This is especially true when you browse through Twitter where there are fake twitter account pretending to be someone famous & asking unsuspecting victim to send out Eth in return for more Eth.

My question is, what do you suggest we can do to prevent our friends and family from falling prey into such scam? Do you use any software or add-on to block fake accounts from appearing on your Twitter timeline?

Hopefully Twitter will impose stricter rules for people from opening new accounts to stop this serious scam from becoming more serious.

Do not be easy to believe if someone asks your ETH because usually such people justify any means to be better avoided if there is such a thing

Hello bosshyip

To make it simple. Follow the project through their announcement, Facebook page, Twitter, reddit, and their website. Also if possible search for their team members if they are visible or not. Then while doing that you can decide whether you still sent your eth or not.

Some people fall to such scams out of mere greediness. I don't know why even after the numerous reports and warning  about fraudsters, people allow themselves to be scammed just like that.

There is nothing we can do to prevent this than for people to be more careful when dealing with unknown peraons

well to me I think the Best option is to never trust anyone that says that. By the way no one gives free money in crypto, those who do that give airdrops (even with that you'll be required to perform some few tasks).

Actually trusting is also risky. Not just crypto or investment even our trust to put our money into something that we really don't know is very risky. After all maybe what matters after losing is GETTING LEARNINGS.

It should be pretty obvious that nothing in life comes for free.. and this especially true anonymously on the internet.. people EVERYWHERE are looking to scam you because the one flaw with crytocurrencies is its tough to track criminals.  Everyone involved in this space needs to get educated and educated quickly because you can lose it all in a heartbeat.  Seriously if you are new in this space, spend the first week or so maxing out security and reducing risk of exposure by taking proper precautions... and especially don't fall for something as silly as Send me eth to get eth back on social media.
